Author's notes: this was inspired by Dir en Grey's new maxi-single, "Ain't Afraid to Die".

Forever. You promised you'd be here with me. Where are you now, Die? You broke your promise, and I hate you. I need you, please come back.
Liar. All those promises were chocolate-covered berry... and you know how much I hate berries. Candy-coated. All the ugly stuff inside.
Fine, leave if you want. I don't want you anymore, anyway. You always said I'm strong... and I'll show you. I'll go on without you.

He came to see me yesterday. Why was he so angry? The little twerp came up and smacked me. Why was he blaming me? I would never hurt you, Die. You believe me, right? I was just trying to make you stay. It didn't work out though, did it? Damn, I should've drove deeper.
You forgive me, koibito? I was gonna follow you, anyway. But they came in too early and took you from me.

~Love, you idiot. It was just a misunderstanding. But now, you've gone and done this to yourself. What am I supposed to do now?~
Kyo paced up and down the hallway, ignoring Toshiya's sniffles and Shinya's stiff appearance. Any news would be welcome.
~You came. I knew you would.~
~Of course. You didn't expect me to leave you all by yourself, did you?~
~Forgive me.~
Snapping to attention the minute the doctor came into view, Kyo ran up to him and demanded answers. The doctor shook his head slowly and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder, "He's gone."
~I forgive you, coz I love you.~
~Will you stay with me?~
A dark backdrop of rain clouds accompanied the three as they stood by the markers. Shinya brushed away a tear, and smiled slightly when the white dove that perched on top of one of the granite stones was joined by another.
~Into eternity. And I won't ever get bored of you, little imp.~
~Forever. Warm me up now, Die?~
~You'll never be cold again, koibito.~

eh, sorry if it became confusing towards the end. but kaoru (and i'm sure it's safe to say that you've figured out which pairing...) was the one talking to himself in the beginning... and if it wasn't clear, he tried to kill die (reason should be obvious... if not, email me ^^;;) die's in the hospital... kaoru's in a mental ward.
