Part 19
"The doctor told Shinya and I that Die had suffered a concussion and
slipped into a coma. Also, Die had been drinking, lowering his
body's natural defenses... they have him stable now, but, the ability
to come out of this is all up to Die." Kaoru sighed, relating the
details to Kyo and Toshiya.
Toshiya covered his mouth and gasped, tears starting to fill his eyes
and Kaoru wrapped his arms around the bishounen. "Oh god... Kaoru...
what if Die doesn't wanna come out?" Toshiya cried out.
"Why would Die wanna die?" Kyo asked, frowning a bit.
"Be...because he looked so disturbed when he.. when he left Shinya
and I last night... maybe he was depressed about something and... and
he won't wanna..." Toshiya couldn't speak anymore, his mind filling
with thoughts and his heart filling with fear.
Kyo sighed as Kaoru held Toshiya closer, biting his lip. //I wish
Kaoru would hold me like that.... I wish anyone would...// He turned
to go find Shinya.

Empty?
.......
No... that's not what I feel....
But there isn't anything around to take in... nothing to fill myself
with.....
No.... there is.... thoughts... memories... that's all....
Not many happy ones, so why am I always smiling? Is it blind hope?
"Die!"
What? Who's there?
"Die...."
Oh... it's Shinya... go away Shinya....
"Wake up... please..."
No. You'll just pretend to love me and then go off with the others
again.
"Die... I love you..."
No, you don't. I really doubt you mean that. Is this time and last
just part of an elaborate joke on me? Toying with me? I know I've
kidded with you before, Shinya, but this is way past kidding...
Now I feel lips briefly on mine... Is it you? Shinya... are you
acting for someone? Is someone else in the room?
Now you're stroking my hair... oh... that feels good... please
don't... Shinya... please don't do this... it feels too good... just
let me slip away Shinya... pull that plug that's keeping me alive...
Maybe I'll get reincarnated into... I dunno.. a puppy or something...
and you'll find me and take me home and love me for real... and I can
show you I love you without fear of being hurt...
....
It hurts to even think that I can't do that now, Shinya... because
you don't love me... you lie to me and yet, I still love you....
Oh damn... am I crying? No... no.... don't see my tears... please
don't....

Shinya's eyes caught sight of light suddenly reflecting off of Die's
cheek and gasped as he saw the cause. "A tear?" He stroked Die's
opposite cheek while bending down and catching the tear between his
lips, kissing Die's cheek lightly before wrapping his arms around Die
best he could, laying his head on his chest.
"Die... don't leave... please..."

Kyo gasped as he bumped into someone and frowned, looking up and
seeing Hakuei. "Hakuei! What are you doing here??"
Hakuei smiled. "I had to visit a friend who's in here for an
operation. You?"
Kyo bit his lip. "Die... Die is in a coma..."
Hakuei bent down (haha) and looked up to Kyo. "What happened??"
Kyo shook his head. "I don't know.. they said he hit his head while
drunk. Shinya found him..."
"That's awful..."
Kyo nodded, blinking his eyes rapidly to keep back tears. //Damn
it! I can't cry again! I can't!// "I'm worried about him..." Kyo
said, his voice cracking twice.
Hakuei reached out and brought Kyo toward him, hugging the smaller
man. "I'm sorry..."
Kyo wrapped his arms around Hakuei too, hugging back and burying his
face in the other man's hair. //Why can't Kaoru hug me? Why can't
it be him....// Kyo sobbed, shaking into the embrace. //Poor
Hakuei... having to put up with me... saving my sorry life... having
to put up with my tears...// Kyo trembled, not wanting to end the
embrace as he cried. //The world is crumbling around me...// he
hugged Hakuei tighter, //Oh gods... I'm glad someone will hold
me....//

When Toshiya's sobs died down, he pulled slightly away from Kaoru,
wiping his tears and trying to calm his breath. Kaoru smiled
slightly. //He's so pretty... even when crying...//
Toshiya dropped his arms to his sides and looked around
him. "Where's Kyo?"
Kaoru shrugged. "I didn't see him go off." He took one of Toshiya's
hands. "Come on, let's go visit Die and Shinya."
Toshiya nodded and followed Kaoru out, passing by Hakuei and Kyo at
just the right time to have Kyo see Kaoru and Toshiya's hands linked.

Okay, short short part, me know... but after two days of chasing pigs
and goats, I dun wanna do more right now ^^;
