Dedicated
to all the women
who have been Lied to
by someone they
care for.
The Letter
It did not start with "Dear John", nor did it bring a tear to his eye
There were no words of love, nor hatefulness did she sigh
Yet, he read the letter over, not once but more then twice
causing him to look within, in search of the reason why.
As on the page he saw his words, she had placed there in bold type
and some he said at another time, told him she knew he'd lied.
No words he may say to this dear soul, will undo the damage done
Nor any apologizes he may make, shall, from her heart, take the harm
All the pretty words that is said, is no more then chaff in the wind
if a lie is found, within their bounds, and uttered to a friend.
Why do men dream up these things and tell them with a strait face?
only to hide, when the truth is known, within their own disgrace.
It did not begin with "Dear John"
nor did it bring a tear to his eye
it caused him to look,
deep within,
in search of the reason why.
When the truth is spoken there
Builds a bond
that draws two hearts so close.
A lie in time,
if not confessed,
will turn those hearts to ghost.
