THIS HUMBLE CABIN PLACE

A Poem of Love

A river walk, we did not take,
Nor a midnight stroll, down where the waters break.
We never held hands, along its shores
nor on it's piers our hearts out pour.

Instead
we dwelled within these walls
of this lowly abode, to learn not all.
Of who we are, of feelings deep
until passions fulfilled, we drifted into sleep.

Then at the dawning, with our love still entwined
your heart, your soul, once more touched mine.
Yet a dread of emptiness, creeps in as I write
The loneliness of knowing, you're not with me tonight.

Still as I lie, in the place which we shared
your touch, your fragrance, is so alive in the air.
Your memory will remain, in this humble cabin place
until I know once more, your gentle embrace.
