| When Flaming Feminazi didn't return, ACML instantly sent out another operative: Ted Zombie, a zombie capable of becoming ghost-like. He arrived at Paula's house when she was at work the next day. He dematerialized, easily floating through the wall, then rematerialized inside the house. Buddy instantly noticed the atmospheric change, even before Ted rematerialized, and barked ferociously to warn the bunnies. As the bunnies pushed their way out of the cage, Ted rematerialized, smirking at the animals' efforts. All three animals came to a stop directly in Ted's path. "I assume the three of you are Buzzby...that Charlatan is very true to his name! You three are about as scary as Florida's electric chair...and seeing as how I've come back from that, the three of you don't stand a chance!" Ted smirked as he spoke, turning his gaze intensely on Baby. "So you're the only chick, hunh? I guess I'll enjoy taking you out first. Of course, ACML is against animal cruelty or the 'death penalty' under any circumstances. So I suppose I shouldn't...but I'm sure they'll excuse my behavior as being due to my zombification after receiving the death penalty, especially since they don't make anyone take any personal responsibility for their own actions." "You're really full of yourself, aren't ya, freak? Ya tink ya gonna hurt my Babes? Ya got another ting comin!" With that statement, Breezy ran straight for Ted, planning on making him permanently lifeless. Ted laughed at Breezy's response, dematerializing as the little bunny reached him. Breezy kicked out, falling through the ghostified Ted, and landing futilely on the other side. "You know what?" Ted began as he remained dematerialized, "since I'm already going against ACML's bleeding-heart rules, I may as well go all the way. I think I'll wait for Paula outside and take her out directly. After all, I like interacting with human females much more than female bunnies. Then, if I'm still not satisfied, I might come back for you little animals..." With that, Ted walked through the wall, waiting invisibly in the carport for Paula to return. "What're we gonna do now?" Buddy whined. "I think I might have a solution," Grover began. "There's a chance that by combining our powers, we can briefly take control of Paula. It will only work if Paula completely trusts us and that won't be clear until we try. Also, as long as it's brief, she will be in a trance and won't remember a thing. If it does work, we'll be able to act through her with all our abilities transferred to her. That way she'll have a fighting chance against Ted without subjecting her to knowledge of our battles. Of course, we won't be able to extend our powers very far, so she'll probably be in the carport before we can test whether or not this plan will work. Anyway, because of this distance limitation and the fact that Paula's due home any minute, we have to decide right away if we want to try it." "It sounds like our only real chance to help Paula, so let's give it a try," Baby said softly. With that, Baby, Buddy, and Breezy all climbed up onto the couch arm next to the aquarium, concentrating on giving their powers to Grover. The Figmen also concentrated more intensely, giving Grover more power than he'd ever felt before. A moment later, Paula pulled into the driveway. Just as her car entered the carport, Grover focused on putting her into a trance. Deep in Paula's unconscious, Grover managed to sense Paula's complete love and trust of her animals. He then easily took control of her body, pushing her conscious mind under. When the car stopped and Paula exited it, she was acting under Buzzby's influence. Ted materialized in front of her, smirking with the expectation of Paula's horror. However, he was stunned to see a smirk wash across Paula's face. With that Breezy, using Paula's body, took advantage of Ted's shock by kicking him right in the stomach. Ted went to his knees, holding his stomach in disbelief. "Why aren't you scared of me you stupid broad? Don't you realize who and what you're dealing with?" Ted shouted as he looked up at Paula. Breezy turned Paula to kick Ted again, but he dematerialized to avoid the blow. "No woman gets a second chance against me!" Ted spewed, "now I'll show you what I like to do with women!" As Ted approached Paula, Baby's influence took the lead. Baby gave a super bunny snort through Paula, directing it deep into Ted's being. Ted tried to stay dematerialized, but the force of the snort fused his particles together. Then, as he solidified, the snort began to vaporize his fragile zombie structure. "What are you doing? No one can beat me! I'm more brilliant and attractive than anyone before or since! I'm the best thing ever..." Ted's words trailed off as he was turned into lifeless powder by the long intense snort. As soon as Ted ceased to exist, Grover cut off contact with Paula and the animals all regained their respective powers. "Hum," Paula thought to herself as she looked at Ted's dusty remains, "I need to sweep off my carport. It's obviously heavy pollen time. Maybe that's why I feel so dizzy and breathless too." She then calmly unlocked the door, totally unconscious of what she had done while under Buzzby's control. Baby and Breezy rushed back into their cage while Buddy took his place just inside the door. Once inside, Paula used her asthma inhaler to battle the strange dizzy, breathless feeling that she felt. For the rest of the day, everyone--Paula, Buddy, Breezy, Baby, Grover, and the Figmen--rested and did nothing. All of them except Paula knew why... |
