My picture

An autobiography
A speech I gave at the Football Banquet after the end of a long and tough year

Hello there.

I'm Paul, if you haven't figured it out yet. I'm 19, about 5'5", and my picture should be just above this text. I'm a Virgo or Earth(I think) Monkey by Western or Eastern Horoscopes, respectively, if it means anything to you. If it improves your feelings of compatability with me[and if you believe in all that hooey], Please E-mail me:) - there's always a chance.

I like to play sports: I played soccer from the time I was four until high school, then played for three years there.  I started playing football as a high school freshman, at defensive back, but I only did that for two years because I didn't think I was aggressive enough.  I played all four years as placekicker as well, and have a lot of great and not-so-great memories of the seasons.  I started running track as a Junior, in the 4x100 relay, the 200 and the 100 sprints, and as a senior when everyone else started kicking my butt in varsity meets I switched to the 300 Hurdles.  I also like to try to keep in shape through running, crunches, and other exercise, but it seem like the more I do the fatter I get...

Another big part of my time is computers.  I like to program, make something work the way it didn't before, and see my ideas come to life.  I like learning new things, so I got involved in the internet a little at first, but much more after I learned how to work with HTML.  Now I know much more about it all, as well as some DHTML, JavaScript, C++, and still remember some AppleBASIC and Pascal from school.

I like to read books, usually fiction scifi horror stuff, but anything I can get my hands on from Conan Doyle to Stephen King to Dante to Jules Verne.  I like to think about things too, reason them out in my mind and come up with my own ideas about life and the world as I know it.  I like reading the wisdom passed down through history, like learning about what happened before us, reading quotes, seeing how other people made an impact and what it was that did so.

One more thing I like to do is draw... create... get my dreams on paper. So far, I haven't had too much success in it, but I've had a lot of fun in all the drawing classes in school that I've had the opportunity to take. I have learned a lot in them, and enjoy drawing, art, art history, and seeing something that I hadn't before in an work I have looked at a hundred times before. I got good at color oil painting and b&w graphite, I'll put up some work when I get a chance to scan them.

Sometimes I'm too much of a perfectionist.  I like things to work correctly no matter what, so I'll do extra work to make something more efficient or help someone out to make the world a better place.  It's just the way I am, it's not like I'm trying to get brownie points with everyone in civilization.  I like to talk too.  Sometimes, if a question is asked of me I'll go to great lengths to get my *exact* point across so there's no confusion.  I'm a man of organization and completeness, even though my room is a mess.

I'm usually a good person to get along with, but there have been a few really bad points in my past that I've gotten through that sometimes resurface and cause me to draw away from everything.  The things I've done plus all I've heard about makes me someone that people come to all the time for advice, though they may not know me as one of their closest friends, and I'm known around as a great guy, sweet person, patient helper, avid idealist, hard worker, and a tenacious achiever. Once in a while, someone will say a thing or two that they see in me they happen to hold in high esteem. I thank them for their kind words, and not to be self-centered or anything I might make a page for those that visit and would like to say something about me - something not for the guestbook, but a different type of entry. One friend said that I'm always there when someone needs me and always able to lend an open ear. Thank you.

I was in the Scouting program for a good long while, and made it to Eagle with a Bronze Palm to spare.  I've gotten a few recognitions that mean a lot to me though perhpas not to many people such as the Lamar Award for Excellence from the FreeMasons.  I like the outdoors and getting out and doing active things.  I'm a sharp-shooter w/ a .22 rifle, but don't like hunting animals.  I like peace and quiet much of the time, perhaps due to the fact of growing up in one of the largest cities.  I like doing things that are good to do, not necessarily for what I'll get out of it.  You don't get as much out of life if you're only in it for yourself.  Sometimes I just like to ramble on about unimportant things, simple things.  Some things in life are better taken slow.  I wish people were more considerate, I think inconsideration is the biggest problem in the way - if people would think about others before they did something, we'd all be much better off.
I like to spread the wealth of wisdom a little, so everyone can get some.
Have fun with whatever you decide to do in life, but make sure it's what YOU want to do.

Live like you'll die tomorrow,
Work like you don't need the money,
Love like you've never been hurt,
And Dance like nobody's watching.

Thanks for listening
