Sheltie Color Inheritance

My goal for this page is to see it used as a staple and guide to the coloring found in this wonderful breed.

Please realize that, while many colors will be identified and defined on this page, not all are acceptable to the breed standard.

Using These Pages

Please observe the following practices while utilizing these pages.

Click on links to view individual color pages.

Please do not copy any of the pictures exhibited on these
pages without prior permission from their owners.

There will be proper credit given and links provided to the
owners of any pictures used on these pages.

And, lastly, please let me know what I can do - if anything - to make these pages of better use to you. You can do this by signing my guestbook or emailing me at loganisle@hotmail.com.

But most importantly, Enjoy!

The Basic Colors

There are two basic coat colors in shelties: brown and black. All other colors are dilutions (such as blue and sable merles), variations (such as Color Headed Whites), or mutations of these basic colors.

All colors do exhibit white markings. This has not always been so.
