What Could Have Been...



In My Intrepretation

The WHA-NHL merger marked the end of the WHA. I believe if the merger didn't take place the WHA was in store for a great future. The six remaining teams in the league were stocked with talent, and Andre LaCroix and myself believe that the league had equal talent to the NHL. The WHA i think would of started to put new expansion franchises in around North America agian around 1983 and from then they would have expanded to catch up again with the NHL. The WHA I believe would of surpassed the NHL indefinitely around 1992 if they got proper draft picks (i.e. Mario Lemieux) into the league. This league could have survived , the thing was that the NHL was too scared to have them around so they in my opnion merged with them to get rid of the competition which would hurt the clubs in the future even more then before.
