2009 from
"Gerry T in UK
wife of Edward Richmond born in 1847 who married an Elizabeth Mason
in 1868 and went on to have a clutch of other little Richmonds in the Burnham,
Essex area of England. Some trees suggest Elizabeth Mason to
be Fanny Elizabeth Mason, born Maldon Mar Qtr 1844 (vol 12 page 163) and
thus the daughter of James Mason (1810-1873) and Sarah Richmond, who appears
in 1851 and 1861 censuses as 'born Maldon.'
This is not in fact the case.
Elizabeth is in fact Elizabeth Rush (also born 1844) who married a
Samuel George Mason in 1862 (Jun qtr Maldon 4a/257). Samuel then died in
1863 (Mar qtr 4a/137) leaving Elizabeth Mason to marry Edward Richmond.
This is confirmed in the Edward Richmond Elizabeth Mason marriage
certificate which shows Elizabeth as a widow and father as John Rush.
I attach a copy of the certificate so you can see for yourself. It
also explains why one of their sons was named Arthur Rush
Richmond!
Marriage Certificate : 1868, Marriage celebrated
in the Independant Chapel of Southminster, District of Maldon, County
of Essex.
