Mr. Thomas J. Wheat
209 Simone Place South
Santa Rosa, California 95409

Dear Mr. Wheat:

Thank you for contacting me about the Project for the New American Century
(PNAC)
report that suggested the United States should remove Saddam
Hussein from power in Iraq. I appreciate you taking the time to share
your views.

Like you, I find the PNAC report very disturbing. While I believe that we
must work hard to safeguard American citizens, it is a mistake to believe
that we can use force to project American values across the globe. Our
commitment to democracy demands that we allow other nations the time and
space to develop their own governing institutions. Using violence in the
name of peace is not acceptable. Be assured that I will keep your views
in mind as I work to promote peace and cooperation around the world.

Again, it is good to hear from you. The people of Marin and Sonoma
counties are the most important voices I listen to as I serve in Congress.

Sincerely,

Lynn Woolsey
Member of Congress
