January, 1997
Tallahassee Tiger Sharks

Hockey Stick -- Don't get CHECKED!

by Sarah James, Age 6

Matty Johnson

"Where is your hometown?"

"I'm from Millis, Massachusetts just outside of Boston. That's where I grew up and then I went to high school in Rhode Island."

"Are you married?"

"I'm not married, but I do have a girl friend."

"How old are you?"

"I'm 24 years old."

"Do you like playing hockey in Tallahassee?"

"I love playing hockey in Tallahassee."

"What do you like most about playing hockey?"

"There's a lot of things...the fans...the players..we have a lot of fun together."

"Have you lost any teeth playing hockey?"

"No, I still have all my teeth."

"What's your favorite sport besides hockey?"

"I like football, basketball; I love all sports."

"Which are your favorite teams?"

"I like the Chicago Bulls and the New England Patriots, they're going to the Super Bowl."

"Which team in the ECHL do you like playing against the best?"

"I like playing against Baton Rouge, the team we're playing tonight. I've scored a lot of goals playing against them."

"Do you have any pets?"

"I don't have any, but my parents have a Golden Retriever and a Yorkshire Terrier. I had a snake in high school and in college...a big snake but we lost him.

"What do you want to do after you're finished playing hockey?"

"I want to either start my own business, I have a business degree, or become a stock broker."

It was fun to do the interview and to be a reporter. Matt Johnson was really nice. Go Sharks!
