My Interview with Steve Richards February, 1997

"Hi, Steve, my name is Jeffery Ard."

"Nice to meet you, Jeffery."

"How old are you Steve?"

"I'm 25 years old."

"Where are you from?"

"I'm from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania."

"Are you single or married?"

"I'm married."

"How old were you when you started playing hockey and is it fun to play on the same team with Mark (brother-goalie)?"

"I was 4 years old when I started playing and it's great playing hockey with Mark. How old are you, Jeffery?"

"I'm 6 years old and I like to roller blade and play hockey!"

Interview resumed

"Who is you favorite coach and your favorite player?"

"Wow...ah wow! My favorite coach is Barry McKenzie I guess, and my favorite player is Steve Yzerman."

(Jeffery: He plays with the Detroit Red Wings. I looked this up.)

"What's your favorite food?"

"What's everybody's favorite food? Pizza!"

"Mine too!"

"What's your favorite hobby to do when you're not playing hockey?"

"Golf. Definitely golf."

"Have you ever been a goalie like Mark?"

"No, just a few times in practice. Not for real though."

"Have you ever scored during a game and how does it feel?"

"Oh yah, I've scored a bunch before and it feels great to score! A lot of fun."

"What other teams have you played for?"

"Hampton Roads Admirals. Baton Rouge Kingfish, and Raleigh Ice Caps."

"What do you plan on doing when you finish playing hockey or are you going to always play hockey?"

"I plan on coaching when I finish playing or run a rink. One of the two."

"Oh, isn't your dad a hockey coach and a favorite too!?"

"Oh yah! He is a coach and a favorite!"

"Well, that's all Steve. Thank you!"

"All right Jeffery. Thank you. See you again soon."

Jeffery: I really enjoyed my interview with Steve. He was really nice and friendly. He's a great player and I hope he stays with the Sharks a long while. I think he would have talked more to me, but I was a bit nervous and it was past our bedtime!!! Tiger Sharks are the greatest.
