Hockey Stick -- Don't get CHECKED!

From the Front Office

A big and special thanks to all who participated in the Fin-Atics' road trip to Mississippi. I spoke with the players and the ones who didn't see you told me that they could sure hear you. It means a lot to the players and the organization when we have big numbers in attendance on the road.

Also a reminder about the March 21st game -vs- Knoxville -- Fin-Atics may purchase 4 upper level tickets for just $16.00. Show your support for Tiger Sharks hockey and bring some friends who don't normally come to the game. Its a great way to attract new members to the club as well.

Records Update

The Tallahassee Tiger Sharks have tied the ECHL record for shutouts at 5. They currently share this record with the 1994-95 Dayton Bombers.

Bad News/Good News

Bad News: Its true. Charlie Muenger is leaving the Tiger Sharks organization.

Good News: Its true. He is getting a promotion to General Manager for the Tucson franchise of the Western Professional League.

As Assistant General Manager for the Tiger Sharks, one of Charlie's primary duties includes running the show...literally. The sound, the light show, all of it, Charlie is the magician behind the penalty boxes coordinating all of it. Those fans who have the opportunity to travel on the road know exactly what the Sharks will be losing.

Though sorry to see him leave, the Fin-Atics wish Charlie the best in his new job.

Fin-Atics say Good- bye to Claude and Hello to "The New Guy"

"The New Guy," Olaf Kjenstad comes to the Tiger Sharks from Knoxville in a trade that saw the departure of Claude Jutras. We wish Claude the best in Knoxville and are sorry to see him leave.

Ole, as he is known,' proved his' worth against Peoria, February 12. Scoring 2 goals and almost getting a hat trick in the last seconds of the game, Ole had the fans on their feet and cheering. But that's nothing new. The acknowledged fan favorite of Knoxville (who were very sad to see him leave) has played 44 games this season and comes to the Tiger Sharks with 50 pts (19-G/ 31-A) and 92 PIM.

Special Get Well Notes

It was brought the attention of the Fin-Atics that former Tiger Shark Rod Aldoff, now with the Utah Grizzlies, suffered a serious fracture to both sides of his jaw. The Fin-A tics would like to extend their best wishes for his speedy recovery and return to professional hockey.

* Wes Swenson, recently sidelined with hernia surgery, has returned to North Carolina to recover. The Fin-Atics would like to wish him the best and let him know that we will miss seeing him on the ice.

* John Uniac, three season veteran of the Tiger Sharks, retired this past month with a career ending injury. We would like to wish him the very best and are sorry to see him leave hockey.

Sharks Trade Garry for Gary

The last month of the trade season saw some action on the Tiger Sharks roster with the loss of Garry Gruber to Louisville in return for future considerations. Those of us who had the chance to get to know Garry will miss the Penguin but wish him the best of luck with his new organization.

The Fin-A tics want to welcome Gary Socha to the Tallahassee area. Signed this month from the English Elite League, Gary brings a lot of experience to the Sharks' offensive line with 132 points in 135 ECHL games.

EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA

It was announced Thursday, February 20, that Mark Richards was being called up to the Carolina Monarchs to serve as backup goalie. He will be gone approximately 2- 3 weeks. Sonny Mignacca will be the starting goalie, with no plans as yet to locate an emergency backup.
