Week of Janurary 6
Meg runs out on her wedding and heads for Sunset Beach. Anne gets a surprise visit from her father, Del; she tries to impress him with her initiative, but he responds by humiliating her. Ricardo is relieved when his promotion comes through. Mark finds a home for Tiffany. Ben is haunted by a troubling memory. Ricardo confronts Paula when he finds a pregnancy test in the trash; Paula confides in Casey about Ricardo's inability to commit. Tiffany decides to use Meg's letters to get Ben. Meg thinks Casey is her cyberlove. Annie dreams of killing Del. Mark warns Tiffany away from Ben, who offers Meg a job. Del gives Olivia an ultimatum. Michael saves Vanessa's life. Ben and Ricardo clash. Casey blows it with Rae. Paula gets the wrong idea about what Ricardo wants. Vanessa thinks she's being censored. Tim stalks Meg.

Week of Janurary 13
Del was murdered. Tiffany's abusive childhood was revealed to be the reason behind her quest for Ben. Gregory realized Olivia was involved with Del after seeing her kiss his corpse. Ben wouldn't give Annie an alibi but Bette did. Paula called it quits with Ricardo. Caitlin arrived to comfort her dad, Gregory. Vanessa had another brush with death; Michael took her in. Gregory told Olivia to get rid of her gun, which is the same make as the one that killed Del. Ricardo learned there may be a murder witness. Deathly allergic to strawberries, Casey almost died when Meg gave him strawberry muffins, which are S.B.'s favorite. Olivia became the prime murder suspect when Del's will left her everything, but Annie was arrested when his bloody wallet was found in her fireplace. Ben was interrupted on his way to meet Meg. Eddie got incriminating photos of Olivia.

Week of Janurary 20
Ben is held hostage by Annie so she can get passage out of the country. Her plan didn't work and she was arrested. Meg thought Mark was her S.B. Ben, who is her S.B. went to the pier and missed Meg by a few minutes. Cole and Caitlin met each other. Ben was told by TIffany that Dorothy went home to Kansas. Casey met her parents with Casey pretending to be her husband. Sean thinks he may have implicated Olivia in the murder case. Sean tells the police that Annie killed Del. Rae wanted Clyde to forget the last 24 hours so she gave him an amnesia drug. Caitlin met with Cole when she was supposed to meet with her father.

Week of Janurary 27
Annie is arrested and she seduces Eddie. Annie tries to escape. Clyde gets locked in the closet and Rae drugs him. Tim tells Meg he wants to stay in Sunset Beach. Meg and Ben do some digging and find evidence that helps Annie. Sean feels guilty for incriminating Annie. Ben thinks that Gregory killed Del.

Ricardo proposes to Paula, much to Eddie's annoyance. Caitlin and Cole enjoy a romantic rendezvous, while Gregory broods. Meg jumps to the wrong conclusion about Ben. The Valentine's Dance at the Deep: several Sunset Beach couples just can't seem to connect. Annie tests Ben's patience. Gregory worries over Caitlin. The Richards' family lunch is a bust. Vanessa panics when Jalene disappears. Ricardo and Paula announce their engagement. Annie deliberately misleads Meg. Sean and Mark clash over Tiffany again. A paranoid Eddie starts to target Paula. Week of February 24
Cole listens to Olivia's drunken ramblings, Ben and Meg maintain appearances of 'business as usual,' and a terrified Paula screams for help. Cole fishes for information on the Deschanel Jewels. Ricardo discovers Paula missing. Annie dreams of blood on her hands. Casey and Rae continue their renovation of the beach house. Vanessa brings a copy of her article to Michael. Ricardo continues to search for Paula. The cocktail party at the Richards' home. Casey has an ultimatum for Meg. Tiffany starts to target Olivia. Olivia suspects Cole of being a jewel thief. Time is running out for Paula and Eddie. Meg finds a shocking piece of evidence.

March 1997

Week of March 3
Gregory gives Tim his dream assignment, and Bete, Eddie and Olivia all get unpleasant surprises. Tiffany moves up in the world, Casey warns Rae not to go digging into his past, and the FBI target Ricardo as a suspect in Paula's kidnapping. The past continues to haunt Michael, and Tiffany provides Ricardo with the break he's been praying for. No more secrets for Tiffany and Annie; time is running out for Paula. The Rescue... the Deschanel Jewels... no more wasted time.

Week of March 10
Opening Pandora's box... Let the nightmares begin. The Richards': Caitlin puts on a show, Olivia's in a panic and Gregory gets the upper hand. A rape of the mind... like mother like daughter... Welcome back Annie! It's not over, Paula.. Mixed signals.. Planning a barbeque, Paula feels like damaged goods... A possible motive for Gregory... and Annie's on the run again.

Week of March 17
Vanessa and Rae push too hard on Casey and Michael; Ben's had enough of Annie's spoiled behavior, and Del Douglas' killer is revealed. Casey and Rae connect, Annie finds out Ben's had enough, and who really shot Del Douglas?? Casey gets some comptition when Rae's fiancee, Wei-Li arrives in town; Tiffany is found out and put in her place; and Eddie and Gregory come to an understanding. Casey and Rae are rattled by Wei-Li's questions, Annie discovers Gregory and Eddie are both after her, and Vanessa finds out what happened on Grand Avenue. Eddie's on the trial of the briefcase, Ben can't resists helping Annie out again, and Bette and Olivia remember what they did to Elaine and her baby.

Week of March 24
Paula finds out from Gabi they are sisters, and Gabi gets to stay at Ricardo and Paula's. Cole realizes he is sleeping with both mother and daughter. Eddie kidnaps Meg, who is rescued by Ben, and Annie cleans the briefcase out and fills it with beach sand. Eddie goes to Switzerland, ready to start a new life, only to find sand instead of jewels. Ben hypothetically fills Ricardo in on Annie being alive and Eddie being a suspect in Del's murder. Wei-Li wants to throw a party celebrating Rae and Casey's wedding. Michael wants to tell Virginia and James the truth about his part in James' father's death. Bette pressures Olivia to tell Cole and Eddie the truth.

Week of March 31
Tiffany was caught by Gregory, who ordered her out of the Richards' house. Sean's 'fall' at Ben's caused him to collapse and need major surgery. Jimmy overheard Michael and Vanessa talking, and learned it was Michael who killed his father. Ben and Meg share a kiss while Annie and Eddie started a 'friendship.' Elaine confessed to her dead child's grave that she killed Del, while Eddie hid in the bushes. Rae told Wei-Li the truth about her 'marriage' to Casey.

April 1997

Week of April 7
Cole and Caitlin made up after he confessed to being a jewel thief. Elaine dug up her dead son's grave, only to find an empty coffin. She realized Cole was her son after he told her his birthdate. Elaine confessed to Paula that she killed Del. Eddie, in the meantime tried to strike up a bargain with Ricardo and told him Elaine killed Del. Annie drugged Ben and made Meg believe they had slept together. Sean underwent serious surgery as a result of his fight with Mark. Rae and Casey shared a passionate kiss as Wei-Li watched.

Week of April 14
Caitlin found out that Gregory made Cole break up with her. She and Cole made love in the Grotto. Gregory 'accepted' Tiffany into the family, while Sean had vision problems after surgery. Eddie told Ricardo that Elaine killed Del, and Ricardo gave him immunity in exchange for the evidence. Ben discovered Meg was 'Dorothy' after Tim informed him he knew Annie was alive. Ben and Meg got locked in the wine cellar. Olivia found out she slept with Caitlin's 'young man.' RIcardo goes to arrest Elaine. Ben scares Meg by strangling her in the midst of a nightmare.

Week of April 21
Elaine is arrested for Del's murder. Paula begrudges Ricardo for protecting Annie, and being mad at her for protecting Elaine. Ben and Meg grow closer while they're locked in the wine cellar. Olivia realizes Cole is Caitlin's 'young man' and threatens to tell her if Cole doesn't leave Sunset Beach. Rae doesn't want to take the job in San Francisco because now she has friends and a life in Sunset Beach. Annie, thinking Ricardo is going to arrest her, flees from Ben's Eventually Ben saves her from falling from the top of the lifeguard tower. However, when Ben and Meg embrace, Annie jumps off screaming 'Ben.' Paula asks Cole to talk to her mother about not confessing to the murder. She hopes this will prompt Elaine to spill the beans.

Week of April 28
Casey and Michael save Annie. Annie learns that Elaine killed her father. Cole tells Elaine not to confess to the murder. Cole looks for the missing jewels. Wei-lee plays dirty to win Rae. Elaine admits she killed Del. Cole breaks into Ben's house and learns that the jewels are at The Deep. Michael finds drugs on Jimmy. Rae's parents visit her. Cole steals the Deschanel jewels. Rae's parents storm away. Ricardo thinks Ben helped Annie steal the jewels.

May 1997

Week of May 5
Cole almost confesses to Caitlin about his affair with Olivia in his delerious state. Eddie admits to Elaine that he was the one that gave Ricardo the evidence to arrest her. Ben catches Meg trying to look in the locked room. Annie and Tim concoct a plan to drive a rift between Meg and Ben. Rae's parents continue to refuse to listen to her explanations. Gregory buys The Sentinal and offers Vanessa a promotion. He also wants to find Elaine's son so he can testify on her behalf. Wei-Li and Gregory bargain to further their plans. Ben and Meg make up, as do Paula and Ricardo. Cole finds out from Bette that Elaine is his mother.

Week of May 12
Meg's mom Joan arrived in town courtesy of Tim. Annie made sure Joan got the right impression of Ben that suited her purposes. Cole left Sunset Beach with Caitlin in tow, unknowingly. Ricardo saw Gabi in her birthday suit and tried to find her a job at the station so she'd move out. Eddie surmised Gabi's motives towards Paula. Gregory filed kidnapping charges against Cole, but recanted once Ricardo found evidence to suggest otherwise. Michael boarded a plane to Hong Kong to meet Vanessa, while Vanessa tried to catch up with him and stop him from leaving.

Week of May 19
Annie and Tim's plan worked. Meg went into Maria's studio and found a frightening sight. Cole and Elaine visitied his grandmother and found out that Elaine is his mother. Paula and Ricardo got intimate. Gregory told Elaine about Cole's past. Casey and Rae, and Michael and Vanessa almost make love. Jimmy told Michael he didn't want him to make moves on his mother. Vanessa left for Hong Kong.

Week of May 26
Madame Deschanel confesses to Cole her part in his kidnapping. Gabi tells Paula that Ricardo was with another woman the night she was kidnapped. Ricardo starts to suspect Gabi's motives. Rae fantasizes about Wei-Li and misses her parents. Cole reads letters to AJ from Elaine and realizes what his 'death' meant to her. He decides to return and testify for her. Rae meets her mother in San Francisco after she receives her belongings from them in the mail. Joan has to return to Ludlow since her husband's back went out. Bette hires Eddie to find her investor who's run off with her money. Meg gets locked inside Maria's studio and starts reading her journal.

June 1997

Week of June 2
Rae asks Wei-Li to return to San Francisco with her to 'right' things with her parents. Everyone worries at the courtroom that Cole will fail to show up. Cole flees from the plane and makes it to the courtroom. Madame Deschanel speaks on Elaine's behalf. Alex, Casey's mom, arrives at Sunset Beach.

Week of June 9
Gregory keeps Cole in Sunset Beach, and the young lovers wonder as to his true motives. Meg and Mark find Maria's studio spotless. Vanessa returns from Hong Kong to find Michael and Vanessa growing closer. As the anniversary of Maria's death approaches, Meg is told to stay away. Olivia takes a pregnancy test.

Week of June 16
Annie and Tim have some tense moments that could lead to intamacy. Ben goes off the deep end. Olivia goes to the doctor to get a real pregnancy test. Alex and Michael find out she has cancer. Casey finds out Rae married Wei-Li. Gabi sets her sights on Mark. Meg apologizes to Ben, and Tim and Annie celebrate their victory.

Week of June 23
Gabi continues trying to ruin Paula and Ricardo, while also starting to 'work' on Mark. Olivia found out she was pregnant. Paula has her tattoo removed. Olivia and Cole face a close call. Casey finds out the truth about Alex's cancer.

Week of July 7
Annie returns Maria's jounal to Meg with her own additions and in time for Meg to find. Gregory finds out about Alex's illness. Ben warns Meg to stay away from him and ends up in Annie's arms. Meg is witness to their embrace and later quits her job and The Deep. Olivia has a change of heart about the abortion. Casey and Alex decide to search for a cure for Alex. Eddie tells Bette her advisor blew her cash and is more broke than either of them. Gabi tells Mark her side of how Ricardo saw her nude the day he was fixing the air conditioning.

Week of July 14
Cole gives in to Caitlin's yearning for adventure and stages a theft. Gabi tricks Eddie into spilling the beans to Paula. Cole's fun and games take an unexpected turn of events. Gregory catches Cole in a doubtful act. Jimmy threatens to tell the authorities about Michael's crime.

Week of July 21
Paula moves out of Ricardo's. Meg realizes Ben may have pushed Maria to her death because she dreams she is Maria. Caitlin and Cole's blood tests reveal more than they bargained for. Ben and Meg end up inside the cave that is about to be destroyed. Meg tells Ben about reading Maria's journal and her belief that Ben is trying to kill her like he killed Maria.

August 1997

Week of August 4
Jimmy appeared at the police department ready to spill the beans on Michael. Ben and Meg continued to be trapped in the cave. Ben and Meg make love in the cave, but Ben calls her Maria throughout. Annie and Tim rescue the duo, but Annie sees them in a compromising position. Olivia learns Caitlin is pregnant.

Week of August 11
Bette covers her slip up with Gregory by saying that she knows about Olivia's involvement in the kidnapping of Cole. Tim and Annie find out Meg and Ben made love in the cave. Bette becomes The Sentinel's new gossip columnist. Tim advises Caitlin to be wary of Cole's indiscretions. Virginia retaliates against Vanessa for asking too many questions. Mark gets hired by Olivia to have a weekly on air show. Caitlin turns Cole's proposal down, but takes his ring as a promise of his love. Gregory finds pregnancy brochures in Olivia's room. Ben sets up a candlelit evening for Meg. Annie realizes Ben doesn't recall making love to Meg.

Week of August 18
Annie discovers that Ben doesn't recall making love to Meg and that he had amnesia because of the bump on his head. Olivia covers up her pregnancy by telling Gregory that Caitlin is pregnant. Eddie points out to Gabi that he knows she had Paula sent to Sacramento. Ben continues to woo Meg. Meg and Annie have a physical confrontation when Meg realizes Annie's been writing the fake entries in Maria's journal. Virginia turns Michael against Vanessa.

Week of August 25
Gregory puts a plan in motion to split up Cole and Caitlin. Meg and Annie duke it out. Annie realizes Ben doesn't recall making love to Meg. Vanessa continues to dig deeper into Virginia's past. Meg tells Ben what happened in the cave. Annie slips up and sends Ben opposite the direction she wanted to.

September 1997

Week of September 1
Gregory plots to keep Cole and Caitlin apart with a new plan. Meg and Annie duke it out. Tim and Annie make Ben think Meg slept with Tim. Vanessa finds out more about Virginia's past. Gregory gives Cole some evidence of his past as Caitlin listens. Tim and Annie get slightly intimate.

Week of September 8
Tim and Meg share a kiss. Gregory announces Olivia's pregnancy to the family and Sunset Beach. Cole has suspicions about Olivia's pregnancy. Annie plants a suggestion in Ben's head which sends Meg back to Kansas. Tiffany leaves town under pressure. Bette and Olivia prevent Eddie from finding the identity of the woman who had an affair with Cole.

Week of September 15
Meg informs Ben of his tongue slip. Gabi gets stuck in the middle of the action. Ben packs up Maria's belongings. Eddie finds out who Cole's lover was and Caitlin almost does as well. A surprise guest from Cole's past makes things worse for Cole.

Week of September 22
Caitlin peeks into the pictures of the women in Cole's past. Cole is seen in Monte Carlo. Ben tries to contact Meg via email and rekindle the flame with SB and Dorothy. Olivia gets her amnio results, with a disappointing answer on paternity. Ben tries to coax Joan into helping him win Meg back. Annie's scheming continues as she and Tim make more plans.

Week of September 29
Cole returned from Monte Carlo and gets a 'present' from Caitlin - she decks him. he also returns with Olivia's missing necklace. Annie's scheming comes to a surprising halt. Tim and Meg share some good times in Ludlow. Paula returns to Sunset Beach and later finds herself caught between Ricardo and Gabi. Gabi accuses Ricardo of rape. Cole finds some proof that shows he could be the father of Olivia's child. Tim sends Ben and email from Meg. Annie tries to explain that she was driven to do all she did for her love of Ben.

October 1997

Week of October 6
Annie continues to scheme against Ben and Meg, despite her fallout with Ben and she joins Tim in Ludlow. She decides to go to Ludlow herself when she realizes Ben has gone after Meg. Caitlin meets someone from Cole's past. Ben arrives in Ludlow ready to prove to Meg it's her he loves. Cole has a clandestine meeting with Olivia to straighten things out, but the meeting goes awry. Ben informs Meg about Annie and Tim's plotting. Caitlin breaks it off with Cole when he won't give her straight answers. Hank, Meg's father, warns Ben that he will have to face him should he hurt his little girl again. Virginia turns Jimmy against Michael soon after she finds out Vanessa and Michael are on their way to Catalina. Tim and Annie are caught in a compromising position.

Week of October 13
Annie and Tim spend some time in Ludlow, while Ben and Meg share a night of romance. Olivia launches her own plan in splitting up Cole and Caitlin and makes Cole an offer. Gabi decides to press charges against Ricardo, who finds an ally in Elaine. Vanessa plans a secret getaway for herself and Michael. Ben makes a surprising revelation to Meg.

Week of October 20
Caitlin agreed to run away with Cole, but she had a hidden agenda. Olivia gives Cole a check for $200K to aid him in taking Caitlin away. Meg gets a new job. Gregory and Ben's new partner is revealed. Gabi took a polygraph test. Ricardo found an unlikely ally.

Week of October 27
Annie turned up as Gregory and Ben's new partner in the Liberty Corporation. Caitlin agreed to go to the clinic with Olivia, while Olivia continued to encourage Cole to take Caitlin away. Mark caught Gabi in a compromising position with Ricardo which led Mark to doubt her story. Ricardo found an ally in Annie and decided to take his own polygraph test. Sean and Caitlin discovered Gregory and Olivia's plot. An enraged Caitlin took to the road with Olivia in tow, leading to tragedy. Vanessa uncovered some of Virginia's secrets about the night of the fire at the cabin.

November 1997

Week of November 3
Caitlin was thought dead, while Gregory learned the Olivia was really pregnant. Ben continued to romance Meg and popped the question. Vanessa issued an ultimatum to Virginia. Gregory ordered a hit on Cole, who continued believing Caitlin was still alive. Annie and Gregory recalled Del.

Week of November 10
Gregory realizes Sean may get killed as a result of his scheming. Cole goes in search of Caitlin. Meg finds some incriminating "evidence" on Ben. She also tells Joan of their engagement. Caitlin realizes her dream wasn't just a dream. Tim finds out about Caitlin's "death." Annie finds out that Meg and Ben are engaged. Sean puts himself in danger in trying to help Cole.

Week of November 17
Cole escaped the authorities and found Caitlin. Olivia started divorce proceedings. Meg was caught investigating Maria's death, and Ben took her planner. Annie helped Sean in a time of need. Tim decided to fight for Meg again. Vanessa brought Virginia's secret trip to light, and it worked against her.

Week of November 24
Ben throws Meg a surprise birthday party. Gregory refuses to allow Olivia to leave him and threatens to make that impossible for her. Annie tries to comfort Gregory on Thanksgiving. Caitlin continues to keep the death of the baby a secret from Cole. Casey receives good news from Alex in Oslo. Virginia ruins Vanessa's soufflé on Thanksgiving.

December 1997

Week of December 1
Caitlin received some unbearable news about her future as a mother. She continued to pretend being pregnant. Virginia finds some strange information about Vanessa. Meg overhears a conversation between Charles and Ben that she considers incriminating against her fiancée. Gabi falls into a trap set up by Ricardo and Eddie. However Eddie decides he won't give Ricardo the evidence since it may mean he might have a chance with Paula. Meg visits someone who was present when Maria drowned. Ben sees his fiancée chatting away with an old friend of his. Gregory threatens to fight Olivia in any way he can.

Week of December 8
Caitlin confronted Cole about the check from Olivia. Caitlin continued her fake pregnancy and stole some pregnancy pads from a pregnancy shop. Alex was the surprise new partner in the Liberty Corporation, and Casey was brought on board as an environmental liaison. Sean and Caitlin reunited. Ricardo's rape trial began. Eddie decided to hold on to the incriminating photos until he found out if he has a chance with Paula. Meg found out that Ben had Maria declared dead legally, she also got caught inside Maria's studio by Ben. He promised to move out and start their life together in a new home. Olivia almost spilled the beans to Gregory, but Cole arrived later to ask her not to reveal their affair to Gregory.

Week of December 15
Olivia revealed to Cole that her child's paternity is questionable. The rape trial has surprising revelations. Caitlin returns to Sunset Beach. An old friend of Cole's arrives at Sunset Beach. Annie tries to seduce Gregory. Ben confronts Meg about her knowledge of the "bloody" sheets.

Week of December 22
Meg finds out from Ben what happened in Maria's studio from Ben. Later he is seen burning the sheets in a spooky scene. Caitlin "forgives" her parents. The Richards spend Christmas together, while Virginia poses as Vanessa and visits her mother. Vanessa, Meg and Gabi visit a psychic. Meg gets a huge present from Ben.

Week of December 29
Olivia found a useful tool to hang over Cole's head in case he decides to lay claim on the child that she is carrying. The Surf Central crew arrived on Meg's island and encountered some jokes and scary scenes. Ricardo asked Cole about Jade because the FBI wants her. Caitlin found out she can't have children and considers adoption.
