             the science of human growth.
                 (Gr. auxein=to grow, to increase)
               There are many Journals, Conferences, papers and

12-17-2000             HAMMOND'S LAW OF AUXOLOGY

          In general plants and animals have a predetermined
          adult genetic size, this is referred to as their
          GENOTYPIC SIZE.  However, observation shows that the
          population MEAN adult size of any species in the
          natural environment always manifests a significant
          "growth deficit" demonstrating that no living organism has
          yet been able to achieve it's theoretical genetic size.
          This actual size is called it's PHENOTYPIC SIZE.  This
          difference between Phenotype and Genotype is commonly
          referred to as the NATURE-NURTURE difference:
            Mathematically, we have:

             (Genotype)-(Phenotype) = (Growth Deficit)

            In fact, in human beings, the long slow historical
          reduction of this growth deficit is scientifically known
          as the "Secular Trend".  See:

            It is posited that there is in fact, a Secular Trend
          for ALL living organisms, not just Humans, and that it
          is probably more rapid the higher the organism.  This
          explains why it has been discovered in Man first.
            Finally, it is advanced that this universal growth
          deficit is a fundamental causal factor in Global Ecology,
          Evolution, and that it explains the celebrated
          Flynn Effect in Psychology. Ultimately, in the case of the
          human brain it directly provides the neuropsychological
          explanation of the historic social phenomena
          commonly known as "God".

SUMMARY:
          This is not complicated.  All the Law of Auxology
          says is that there is a Phenotypic size and a
          Genotypic size.  These are fundamentally accepted
          biological terms.
            Since the phenotypic size can never exceed the
          genotypic size, and the Secular Trend tells us the
          phenotypic size is increasing, we must therefore
          conclude that the current phenotypic size is less
          than the theoretical genotypic size.  Therefore
          there necessarily exists a "growth curve deficit".
          It certainly doesn't take rocket science to
          comprehend that, even though no one has ever
          called it a "Law of Auxology" before.
            This Law is obviously of fundamental importance
          for Global Ecology Theory, Psychology (Flynn Effect),
          and Theology (theory of God).

NOTE:  The existence of this "growth curve deficit"
    has been unequivocally proven by modern biology.
    The Secular Trend (historical reduction) of
    this deficit has been confirmed in Man and
    is called the Secular Trend. These then, are
    the known and confirmed scientific facts.
       Incidentally, Hammond has advanced a
           "Scientific Proof of God"
