Announcements (August 31, 2008)

1. Our two-bit collection is for the Mary Bloom Center. Named for Fr. Bloom's mom, this medical clinic and educational center serves the needy in an impoverished region of Peru. Your support is greatly appreciated.

2. In today's bulletin you will find a flier regarding Initiative 1000. (hold up flier) This initiative would legalize physician assisted suicide in Washington State. The flier gives short responses to the most common arguments given for legalizing assisted suicide. Please read this flier carefully. Also Fr. Bloom's column contains information on why - as Christians - we should reject I-1000. In addition to informing yourself on the "No to Initiative 1000 - Yes to Life 2008" campaign, please consider making a donation to the Catholic Campaign Against Assisted Suicide. Stapled to the flier is an envelope you may mail or drop into the collection. You may make your check out to "No to I-1000" or "Yes to Life!" - but not to Holy Family Parish. Thank you for your defense of human life - from conception to natural death.

3. Next weekend we will have a special presentation on Catholic Bible Study, which begins on September 10. Today's bulletin has contact phone numbers and email addresses for this excellent program. Also during the month of September we will begin RCIA classes, Young Adult Scripture Study and religious education classes.

4. Classes begin at Holy Family School this Tuesday. It is not too late to bring a child for our parish school. Some of our classes are getting close to full - but we still do have opening in Pre-K through eighth grade. Also remember that you can support our parish school by registering your Safeway card for eScrip. It is easy to do - and for the next ten days, Safeway will donate ten percent of some purchases. Registering your card for eScrip is simple and it costs you nothing extra. The bulletin contains more information. Also, please not the announcements of the Friends of Poor Walk, Military Prayer Board, Pier Giorgio Frassatti Boy's Club - and much more. The bulletin has the best news in town!
