De parte del Padre Ramón, Administrador parroquial Tom Weber, Asociado pastoral Abel Magaña, director de la escuela Steve Morisestte y los otros miembros del equipo parroquial, quisiera expresar el deseo que todos tengan Felices Pascuas de Resurrección. Con la celebración de hoy, culminamos el Triduo y el tiempo cuaresmal. Unos feligreses han sido muy diligentes en sus practicas cuaresmales – ayuno, oración y limosna – y han asistido a Vía Crucis y otras devociones. Otros (y incluyo a su servidor en esta categoría) hemos hecho mejores promesas que cumplimientos. No obstante, ahora comenzamos un tiempo que se llama Pascua. Quizás podemos cumplir unas buenas practicas ahora – por ejemplo, abstinencia de carne en todos los viernes, apagar el televisor y hacer una Hora Santa cada semana (o aun cada día) ante el Santísimo. La próxima semana, comenzando el 28 de abril, haré mis ejercicios espirituales el monasterio Brigitina en Amity, Oregon. Pascua, igual que la Cuaresma, es buen tiempo para renovación.

Una practica cuaresmal que muchas familias observaron era Rice Bowl (Plato de Arroz). Si Ud. Ha olvidado de traer sus contribuciones hoy, se puede hacerlo el próximo domingo. Después de la guerra en Irak, hemos visto imágenes de niños que están sufriendo. Rice Bowl apoya a “Catholic Relief Services” que trabaja con Caritas Irak para proveer ayuda. CRS trabaja en muchos otros países que, mientras no están en el enfoque de los medios de comunicación, están sufriendo trágicamente y necesitan ayuda.

Quisiera agradecerles por su apoyo de la parroquia. Tenemos que poner en balance nuestro presupuesto si vamos a avanzar con la reparación de la escuela, templo y Ailbe House. También quisiéramos comprar un terreno para aumentar nuestro estacionamiento – que es uno de nuestros problemas crónicos. On behalf of Fr. Ramon, Deacons Ted & Joe, Parish Administrator Tom Weber, Principal Steve Morissette and all the Holy Family staff, I wish each of you a Blessed Easter. With today’s celebration we climax the Triduum and the entire Lenten season. I know many of our parishioners have been most diligent about Lenten practices – fasting, praying, almsgiving – and have attended Stations of the Cross and other Lenten devotions. Others (I have to include myself in this category) made better resolutions than actual accomplishment. Still we begin a new season called Easter. Perhaps we should consider carrying forward good practices – for example, abstaining from meat on all Fridays, cutting down on television and making a weekly (or daily) Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament. The week after this I will be making an annual retreat at the Brigittine Monastery in Amity, Oregon. Easter, as much as Lent, is great time for renewal.

One Lenten practice many of our families observed was Rice Bowl. If you forgot to bring in your Rice Bowl contributions today, you may do so next Sunday. In the aftermath of the war in Iraq we have all seen images of the children who are suffering. Rice Bowl supports Catholic Relief Services which works closely with Caritas Iraq to provide aid. CRS works in many other countries which, while they may not be in the media spotlight, are suffering tragically and need assistance.

I want to thank you for your support of Holy Family Parish. We need to bring our operating budget into balance if we are to move forward with deferred maintenance of the school, church and Ailbe House. Also we would love be able to purchase a parcel of property to increase our parking – which is one of our biggest ongoing problems. I will be sending you a letter regarding the Annual Catholic Appeal which will mention some of these needs.

Our Parish Council meets this Thursday evening to consider our overall parish needs and to review our preliminary budget. The Finance Council met last week with Ed Williams from the Archdiocese to go over our income and expense. I will keep you informed as we work with these challenges.

A special thanks to Ann Witt and Cindy Cleary for organizing this year's auction - and to all the parents, school staff and others who spent so many hours working with them to make the auction a great success. The Family Night netted nine thousand dollars (this is apart from the matching gifts I mentioned previously) and the Dinner Auction netted approximately fifty one thousand dollars - a total of over $60,000! I appreciate all the parishioners who participated both Saturday evenings. Besides being a successful fundraiser, the auctions helped us get to know one another and to build community.
