 Hidden Stars

Where do you turn when your family life is filled with chaos - when the people who should love you most are the people who understand you least? This is life for eleven-year-old Tim, who, along with his sister, Stacy, have found a respite from their tumultuous home life in an unexpected way. Tim struggles to find the inner strength to be the person he is, until tragedy strikes and changes his life, and his family, forever.

Children often times are very devastated by the deaths of loved ones, beyond what adults may see.  Hidden Stars portrays those varied emotional strains while providing perspective through the main character of Tim Griffin, a young boy who loses a mentoring grandfather while struggling with the illness of a mom who has Multiple Sclerosis and a sister who has Cerebral Palsy.  Hidden Stars exposes the complexity of these issues, while at the same time, demonstrating in simple terms the strong emotional bonds that can make a family even stronger.  Sometimes our strengths can be our very weaknesses, but Hidden Stars  strives to depict that those lessons about ourselves can impact not only our lives for the better, but those around us as well.

Chris Duschik was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, becoming a third generation native of that city.  Hidden Stars was inspired by time spent at his grandparent's lake front house in White Bear Lake, MN as a child.
