1994 Peugeot 106 1.4 XR

When the trusty Peugeot 309 finally bit the dust, Mum decided it had been so reliable [in the face of so much adversity] that she wanted a Peugeot - which is fair enough. Also, her favourite mechanic likes them - which is a very good reason to choose a certain make. She wanted something smaller and thriftier, so the 106 was a good choice.

My only argument is the price she paid - the car is pretty bloody good but not perfect, and with low mileage, but not what I'd have bought if I had £1,500 to spare. Parkers Used Car Price Guide reckon she could have bought the same car through the local paper for £900 or from an auction for £400 but Mum wanted the peace of mind a dealer brings. Personally, a car dealer gives me the opposite of peace of mind. Feedback to the usual place.

Nice car though, the 106. Absolutely hilarious to drive, in that front-wheel drive, Mini-type way. I can't get the most of it though, because there's nowhere to put my size 10 feet in the footwell.

And maybe it's just me, but isn't everyone picking on me on the motorway?

Bloody quick though - revvy 1.4 engine in something that size. Minty.
