Keiki

As time went on, keiki
happened, and the couples became hânai
(adopted) Aunties
& Uncles, Hawaiian
style, where the 'ohana
(family) extends far beyond the nuclear family to extended family,
neighbors, and friends.
The
keiki contingent of the supabowlgang
are "kotonk"
and/or hapa, all beautiful and brilliant:
Shane, Teresa,
Lisa, Kurt, Melanie,
Troy, Leigh Ann, and Madalyn
Growing up in
Hawai`i as kids, the supabowlgang Aunties and Uncles from
Hawai`i remember how
much they looked forward to family gatherings. They got to
drink soda! They played from dawn to dusk with their
cousins.
The same goes
for these kids on Da Mainland. They are "cousins" by
Aloha. They
guzzle down their sodas jus' like island kids. Same, same. And they know how to have a blast together, playing
for fun instead of for scores.
"A family is a unit composed not only of children
but of men, women, an occasional animal,
and the common cold."
~ Ogden Nash.
