Update: May 10, 2007 (Up to Mt. Rainier, Washington)
Continuing our road trip, we drive up to Mt. Rainier, passing Mt. Hood in Oregon along the way. The park had been closed for six months due to flooding, but it opened on May 5th. And that's when we went in.

The drive up through eastern oregon. View of Mt. Hood from the east.

Here's a photo of Mt. Rainier from Seattle.

Going up the mountain... heading to Camp Muir. Circled in red is a group of climbers also heading up.br>

Video of hiking up the Muir Snowfield... and the encounter with "The Ghosts of Rainier". Then us at Camp Muir on a beautiful day with Mt. Adams in the background.

We are at Camp Muir with Mt. Adams in the background. Mt. Hood and also Mount Saint Helens can also be seen... but not sure if they showed up on the photo.br>

We decided to go up the Gibraltar Ledges route out of Camp Muir. Heading up, the weather deteriorated and so we had to come back down. Massive high winds and whiteout conditions -- safety first! But the route is actually beautiful -- a "stellar route."

Christi posing the "Y".

I'm posing the "I".

We headed back down since the wind was getting pretty bad. Another time...

Update: May 21, 2007 (Hanging out in Seattle and driving up to Alaska)
Kristina, Christi's friend from her Intel days (in Phoenix, AZ), joined up in Seattle for a weekend. Here are some photos and videos...

Trouble.

We found the original Starbucks in Pike's Place in downtown Seattle.

We go up the Space Needle... with the "Elevator Gal" yacking away. Actually, it was really good info. Someone asked her if she got bored saying the same thing over and over all day long, day after day... and of course, she only smiled. We came back in the evening to see the city at night from the top of the Space Needle.

What touristy trip would not a ferry ride over to Bainbridge Island? We did. Really nice over there.

We continued up north through the Al-Can, which was built during WWII for quick and easier access to Alaska from the lower 48's. Fort Nelson, as noted in the map above, was a critical point for us. It marked a good portion of the way up through Canada...

Driving up through Canada and a pony we named "Shaggy".

Continuing on the Al-Can... and in Fort Nelson, we started ..."becoming Canadians ...eh."

More driving and roadside safari, eh.

We're in Watson Lake in the YUKON... but Christi thought we were in Utah?%$# Even the second take was still Utah -- what's up with that? We decided that I narrate where Watson Lake is...

More of Canada, eh... The "eh" came about way back near Prince George in the BC (place where we stayed with the shaggy horse in the video above). Well, there was a man there in his 60's who had spent a lot time in the Yukon trapping/hunting... and every other word was an "eh." "Eh" this, "eh" that...

More "eh's" and ...finally, through the Canadian corridor and back into America! Just kidding... Canada's awesome and Canadians are also awesome.
