Update: JUne 1, 2009: Tauru continues to make his way back down to Phoenix, Arizona from Valdez, Alaska hitch-hiking. A long way home... He left Valdez May 26th.
Photo from May's update... would you pick this guy up?
Okay, so Tauru had to clean up a little... Here he is in Tok, Alaska ...about as the sign says, 93 miles from the Canadian Border.
Is he Asian ...or a Native? He ended up getting rides from Natives ...who thought he was one of them! His names on various rides: "Tauru Running Horse", "Tauru Flying Eagle", "Tauru Eat Too Much", "Tauru Full of Shit," ...
The backpack... and a gallon of water. Need to survive out there in the wilderness. Longest wait? 36 hrs for a ride! A room for the night? Wherever you want.
A lake as of May 30th... isn't it supposed to be summer? Finally thawing out.

Update: June 9, 2009: Tauru made it to Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) and visited Jae (met in Nepal May 2008) and hung out a couple of days. He ended up flying back to Phoenix from Calgary because of a slew of bad weather -- not good for hitch-hiking. But he did manage to hitch-hike the Al-Can (Alaskan Canadian HWY) a second time.
