What Training Does
Our Council Require?

Our council trainers really know what they are teaching! You will come away from trainings with lots of great ideas and feeling confident about taking your new knowledge back to the girls!
You can check out dates, locations and times of courses offered by council and sign up by going to the Girl Scouts of Tejas Council Webpage. To get to the Adult Training webpage, click on the link, then, once you get to the council website, click on Adult Training Courses on the lefthand side.

Please note: All trips outside of the regular meeting place and time require a signed, completed Parent Permission form for each girl. Some trips require further paperwork. Check SafetyWise (The GSUSA safety manual) and the Paperwork Required for Activities webpage on this site.

TO BE A TROOP LEADER
There are two trainings required to be a Troop Leader:
  1. Before the first meeting it is recommended that you attend "Getting Started: An Introduction to Girl Scouting" This course can be taken in any one of three different ways:
    • given in person by the Service Unit - This year SU 155 will be offering the course twice, both in September. An additional class will be offered in October if there is sufficient interest. Check the SU 155 Schedule for the date or contact one of the Troop Consultants. (SU 155 Team Email Links Page)
    • OR given in person by the Council - There are many dates and locations to chose from. Check the Council website (Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas Council Webpage ) or CONNECTIONS (a book which will be provided to you by council through the service unit) for the date and location which suit you best.
    • OR by computer homestudy using a CD-ROM - You can check out a CD-ROM version of the course from Council. Check CONNECTIONS to see what specifications are needed to run this program on your computer.
  2. Basic Program Age Level Course (i.e. if you have a Brownie troop, take Brownie Basics) - This training must be taken within 6 months of taking "Getting Started" and is provided by Tejas council. For dates and times, etc. check CONNECTIONS or check the council adult training webpage (Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas Council Webpage ).
