Enabling Java for Your Browswer

Enabling Java

Most modern browsers support Java. Netscape 2.0, Netscape 3.0 and Netscape 4.0 (Communicator) all support Java along with Internet Explorer 3.0 and 4.0. However, even though your browswer may support Java, Java may not be enabled. To enable Java (turn it on), you usually just need to change a preference setting in your browser. Unfortunately, each browser seems to have a different way of doing it.

For Internet Explorer 3.0 for Windows, you can enable Java by choosing the Options... selection from the View pull-down menu. You will then see an Options menu. Choose the Security tab from the top of the window. Once you have clicked on the Security tab, click the Enable Java Programs check box in the active contents section at the bottom of the window. Then, simply click the OK button and your Internet Explorer 3.0 browser will now be Java enabled.

For Netscape 3.0 for Windows, you can enable Java by choosing the Network Preferences selection from the Options pull-down menu. Choose the Languages tab from the top of the window. Once you have clicked on the Languages tab, you can click on the Enable Java checkbox. Then, simply click the OK button and your Netscape 3.0 browser will now be Java enabled.

If your Browser Does Not Have Java

If you are using a browser that does not support Java, you must upgrade to a later browser to run out Java programs. We recommend Netscape 4.0 or Internet Explorer 4.0.
