Author's Notes: This is my first fan fiction so please be gentle. =) And yes, I *am* a shipper. I would appreciate any feedback that you can offer. I decided to reformat and rewrite some paragraphs. Let me know what you think. This is the revised version of this story complete with corrections. I'm still planning on working on revising this story more. In this revised version of this story, there's more a detailed reasoning *why* Scully can still have more children. I felt that it's more realistic than what I had before. This story follows "Discovery of Forgiveness" in the Discovery Series.

Disclaimer: Fox Mulder and Dana Scully belong to Chris Carter, David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, and the Fox Network. Don't worry, I will give them back at the end of the story. However, Dr. Livingstone is mine, but Chris Carter, you can use her in future episodes.

Thanks to: my new beta reading team as well as my friends for their support and corrections.

"Mulder, were there any phone messages for me?" Dana Scully asked her partner of five years, Fox Mulder. She walked back into their office from visiting her mother at lunch. She sat down at her new desk, which had been a present from Mulder.

Fox Mulder was sitting at his desk, working on their paperwork. At the end of his partner's question, he looked up and nodded. "There was just two messages. Nothing big. One from that _creep_ of a brother of yours, Bill Jr." He had a look of disgust when he mentioned her brother.

"Let's not get into a debate about how much you hate my brother," Scully said, with a sigh. "You said there were two messages. What was the second message?"

Mulder frowned. "The second message was from your doctor." He had a concerned expression on his face. he thought to himself. "Is there anything that we should be worried about?"

"No, I'm in remission. You know that," Scully said, as she turned on the computer to access a file that held her report on the last case. She turned towards Mulder, and wondered which doctor called. Scully knew several doctors in the Washington DC area, and had consulted with them from time to time. During the years that she had been assigned to the X-Files Division, she'd gotten to know several at one time or another especially when something happened to Mulder. "Did you catch a name?"

"Yes. Her name was Dr. Elaine Livingstone," Mulder said, concerned. He frowned, as he was worried about his partner's health. He hoped that there wasn't anything seriously wrong with her, and he wondered why her doctor was calling her at the office instead of her apartment. "How come she's calling you here instead of your apartment?"

"Oh, I don't know, but perhaps she couldn't get in touch with me," Scully said, with a sigh. "It's a lot easier calling here for various reasons. I'm always here." She paused for a moment. "What's the message?"

"Some type of error was discovered," Mulder said, in a mystified tone. From the look on Scully's face, she was concerned as well. This news could be either good or bad. He shrugged. "I don't know the details. Why don't you call her back and see what's wrong."

"I think that's a good idea, Mulder. I'll do that," Scully said, as she was waiting for their case report to finish printing. When it was finished, she decided to call her doctor. "Hello. This is Special Agent Dana Scully, and I was wondering if I can get an appointment to see Dr. Livingstone. Noon?" Scully looked up as Mulder nodded. "Noon is fine."

Dr. Elaine Livingstone's office
Tuesday, Noon.

Dana Scully was in the waiting room, reading People Magazine with a photograph of Gillian Anderson on the cover. She noticed some similarities of herself and this actress on that television show that she watched every chance she got.

"Dana Scully?" the nurse asked. "Dr. Livingstone will see you now."

Scully got up from her chair, and replied. "Thank you." As she walked towards the office, she reflected on how she had known Dr. Livingstone since their days at University of Maryland where they both studied medicine. Elaine was more interested in gynecology and obstrectics whereas Dana was interested in forensic medicine. She walked into the office of her friend, and smiled. "I received the message from my partner, and what is this about some kind of error?" she asked, never missing a beat.

"Do you remember all those tests that you had me do after your abduction?" Dr. Livingstone asked. "And after you found out that you had cancer?" Scully nodded. "Well, as I was looking at your file, something was amiss," Dr. Livingstone said, looking up at Scully. "The lab results were so screwy so I had it done again."

"How so?" Scully inquired, as she looked at Dr. Livingstone. She sat down on a chair opposite the doctor's desk.

"Dana, they didn't take all your ova. You can still have a normal, healthy pregnancy."

Scully was shocked with the news. They hadn't taken all of her ova! She could still have children. This was something that she had dreamt about since Mulder had told her what he had found at the Lombard Research Facility while she was at the hospital in Allentown, PA undergoing treatment for her brain cancer. "How? How could this be possible? Mulder and I thought that they took everything..."

"There was one ovary that they hadn't touched, and it's still filled with ova," Dr. Livingstone said. She looked down at Scully's medical file. "I had them double check the results to make sure." She gave the file to Scully for her to look at.

Scully looked at the file, and her blue eyes were misty with tears of joy. "It's great news, Elaine. Thank you for telling me this."

"You're welcome, Dana," Dr. Livingstone said, with a smile.

"I can't wait to tell someone about this. He's going to be as happy as I am."

"Who?" Dr. Livingstone said, her brown eyes twinkling. She had an idea who that person was. Scully had told her numerous times that she was interested in Mulder.

"Mulder," Scully smiled. Her blue eyes were twinkling with excitement. This day quickly became one of the happiest since she had come back to the world of living after her abduction. seeing Mulder returning her cross. Only the look on Mulder's face when he returned her precious cross, and later the news that her cancer was cured, were as special to her.

Dana Scully was still smiling as she entered their office. She saw him watching one of those Alien Abduction videos that he got for $29.95. "What are you watching? Looks like one of those porno movies."

"No," Mulder said, not looking up. "I'm watching one of those "Alien Autopsy" videos that I ordered from that place in Allentown, PA." He paused. "Remember?"

"How could I forget?" Scully asked, nonchalantly. "I still think that it looks fake." She paused. "Are you going to ask me how my appointment went?"

"I was going to," Mulder said, as he looked up to see Scully's beaming expression. "I can see you're in a good mood."

"I have great news! Elaine told me that I can have children. They didn't harvest all my ova. One of my ovaries wasn't under superovulation. There's still more ova left in that one ovary," Scully said, as she excitedly explained to Mulder.

"But I thought..." Mulder said, trailing off. He had thought that there was zero chance of Scully having children since her ova was harvested along with the other female members of the MUFON Network. "I thought that there was zero chance. The clones told me that the other women were childless."

"If you recall, Mulder, they were all abducted several times over the years. I wasn't. I thought that I could never have children because of what they did, but Elaine checked the results herself. No mistakes. No errors. The previous lab results were wrong," Scully replied, assuringly.

"That's great news, Scully! I knew how much you wanted to conceive children," Mulder exclaimed, with relief in his voice. He knew how much Scully wanted children, and how devastated when she thought that she couldn't have any. "I'm very happy for you. Us."

"Us?" Scully asked, quizzically. She never thought that Mulder had the same deep feelings for her as she did for him. True, they had a very strong bond with one another but that's what happens when they had been partners as well as best friends for years. She knew that she cared for him, as he cared for her. But was it love? "What do you mean?"

"Dana," Mulder said, as he knew that he should tell her the truth of how he felt towards her. He hardly ever called Scully by her first name unless he wanted her attention. This revelation was very close to his heart, and he didn't want to jeopardize it. "I'm in love with you. You made me feel like a whole person. I owe you everything, and you owe me nothing."

Scully was shocked, to say the least, as her face was flushed by Mulder's revelation that he was in love with her. "I had no idea that you felt this way, but Mulder, I feel the same way. I love you with all of my heart. I have been in love with you since I was returned."

"When you were missing, I realized that I was in love with you, Dana. I didn't tell you because I wasn't sure if you felt the same way about me," Mulder replied. He got up from his desk, and walked near Scully. He embraced her, and then, he cupped her face while he gazed into her blue eyes. Finally, their lips were touching, and they kissed with all the feelings that they had kept hidden for five long years.

"I feel the same way about you," Scully smiled. "I wish that we had admitted our love years ago!"

"So do I," Mulder replied. "So do I." This was his truth after all. It wasn't about alien abductions, conspiracies, it was about love. The truth was the love that they shared together.
