A PHONE CALL TO SCULLY
Written by: Erin M. Blair
--------------------------------------------
After Scully left my apartment, I waited until
enough time for her to go home. I hope she's
all right, but was she really?
When I saw her bleeding on my floor, I could
feel my heart racing as I feared for the
worst. As I reached for her, she grabbed me for
fear that I was the killer.
She told me later that the hooded stranger
had almost killed her by trying to take
out her heart.
Then she realized who I was. She reached for
me and we embraced. I saw the tears staining
her cheeks, and I comforted her by kissing
her auburn hair.
I have to admit that I was surprised to see
her cry. She always holds her emotions in
check. I know that she's afraid to tell me how
she felt.
As I held her in my arms, my mind replayed
what happened in the Donnie Phaster case.
After she was rescued, she didn't hold her
emotions in as she cried in my embrace.
She let me in that day, but after that, she
never let me in. She always held her emotions
in check, and I never know how she felt.
I hope its different this time.
Philip Padgett said that "Agent Scully's already
in love" but he didn't say who. Who's the lucky
man, Scully? Am I the one?
Why do you hold your emotions in? Are you afraid
to tell me how much you love me?
What are you afraid of? Are you afraid that I
might debunk your love for me?
I would never do that to you, Scully, as you
mean the world to me.
I looked down at my watch, and I knew that I
allowed enough time for her to go to her
Georgetown apartment. I reached for my phone,
and dialed her phone number. I waited for a few
rings, and then heard her low voice
saying, "Scully."
"It's me. I just wanted to make sure that you
arrived home safely," I said. I wanted her to
let me know that I don't have to worry.
"I'm fine, Mulder."
For once, I knew that she wasn't. She suffered
a horrible ordeal in my apartment. I heard her
cries. She wasn't fine.
Far from it.
"Are you sure? Are you really fine?"
"Mulder, I appreciate your concern but I'm
all right. Really."
"If you say so..."
"Mulder, I'm alive. That's what matters,
doesn't it?"
I know that she was trying to reassure me,
but it's not working. "Yes, it does," I
said with a sigh. "Scully?"
"What's wrong, Mulder?"
"Who's the lucky guy?" I asked. I couldn't
help it. I wanted to know who's the guy that
she's in love with.
She was silent for a few seconds and then
she spoke. "Mulder, you're not jealous."
"I just wanted to know. Does he know?"
"I hope so."
"That doesn't tell me anything, Scully.
Does he love you?"
"Well, I'm not sure. Sometimes, I think
that he does, but then I found out that
he had this ex-girlfriend that he still
has feelings for."
"Maybe he's afraid of how he feels towards
you? Maybe he's not sure how he feels because
you never bring him in?"
"I do try. It's just I'm scared."
"Scully, you should let him in."
I could hear her sigh. There was a long
pause before I heard her voice again. "Mulder,
I want to except that I need to know how
you feel."
"How I feel?" I asked in a shocked manner. Was
I the guy? "Am I the lucky man?"
"Of course you are!" Scully exclaimed as she
sighed. "Who else would it be? I haven't seen
hardly anyone."
"What about Ed Jerse?"
"That psycho? You know me better than that,"
Scully said as she paused. She drew a deep
breath and then continued. "Mulder, do you
want to know the reason why I even dated him?"
I whispered. "Yes."
When she answered, her voice was lower. I
knew she wanted to assure me of her love
for me. "The only reason why I had even went
with him was that he sort of looked like you.
Ed was just a poor replacement for you. I
wanted you."
"You wanted me then?"
"Yes. I still want you, Mulder, if you have
me."
"Of course, I'll have you. I'll always have
you."
End of Story
Author's Notes: When I watched the end of
"Milagro," I couldn't help noticing the
similarities to the end of "Irresistible"
when Mulder comforted Scully. I also noted
that was the last time that she had actually
broke down in front of Mulder. All of these
notices inspired me to write this short
post ep for Milagro.
Feedback: Only nice, constructive criticism
please. Flames would be used to line my cat,
Mischief's litter box and will laugh at your
expense. As Mulder said in "Arcadia": "Bring
it on!" Send to: eblair@sonic.net
