NEW JERSEY BEACHES

All of these beaches are found in the lower half of New Jersey. Click on each city's name for more information. Driving directions are on the lower half of this page. Important Note: There is an Ocean City, Maryland, as well as an Ocean City, New Jersey. We're focusing on Ocean City, New Jersey here.

Atlantic City 15 minutes north of Ocean City, 2-3 hours south of New York City.

Ocean City, NJ 30 minutes north of Wildwood.

Wildwood 15 minutes north of Cape May.

How to Get There

FROM THE SOUTH
Option A: If coming from the south, you could try the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, which is an auto ferry that crosses the Delaware Bay between Lewes, Delaware and Cape May, New Jersey. Once you've crossed, (if you're going farther north than Cape May) follow the signs to the Garden State Parkway, which starts in Cape May, then runs through Wildwood, then Ocean City, then Atlantic City and on to points north.

Option B: 95 North, then take the Delaware Memorial Bridge towards the New Jersey Turnpike.
For ATLANTIC CITY: Take the exit for route 40. Take it to the Garden State Parkway. Go north on the Parkway until you take the exit for the Atlantic City Expressway. Don't worry, there'll be lots of signs directing you there, so you'll be losing your money in no time.
For OCEAN CITY, NJ: Same as above, except when you get to the Garden State Parkway, go south on it and take either exit 25 or exit 30, which will lead you right to Ocean City's beach and boardwalk.
For WILDWOOD: Get off on the exit for route 49, Pennsville Salem, which is right after you get off the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Keep going until you get to route 47 and make a right. Follow route 47 all the way and it will take you right in. When you see a sign saying "entering Rio Grande", you're almost there.
For CAPE MAY: Do the same as Wildwood, except when nearer to Wildwood on route 47, you will come to the Garden State Parkway, which you will get on and go south. Go all the way to the very end of it, then follow the signs that take you to Cape May's beach.
FOR ALL OPTION B DIRECTIONS, IF YOU'VE GOTTEN ON THE NEW JERSEY TURNPIKE, YOU'VE GONE TOO FAR. THESE EXITS ARE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE DELAWARE MEMORIAL BRIDGE, BEFORE YOU TAKE THE TICKET FOR THE TURNPIKE TOLLS.

FROM THE NORTH
From all poits in northern New Jersey and above, your best bet is to find your way to the Garden State Parkway, which starts by breaking off of the New Jersey Turnpike, near Perth Amboy. If you're not that far north, you probably know your way around New Jersey well enough to get to the Parkway on your own. All of these beaches have clearly marked exits off of the Parkway.
