So, you are probably saying to yourself, "Why do I care what Kendra has to say about movies she's seen?" Well, you care because if I've seen it and I think it's lame, then it'll save you a few hours! :) To save time I'll rate them from 1-5. 1 means its yucky and not worth the time at all. 2 means I didn't like it but I guess some people might. 3's are so-so and 4's are recommended. A 5 is a must-see, while 6 is one of the all time best movies. BTW, ratings are probably generally on the high side because I tend to not see movies unless I'm pretty darn sure I'm going to like them.

Phantoms

Rating: 3. Ben Affleck is just about the only redeeming feature in this movie. Its a horror-action with some sci-fi. I can't really recommend this unless you're a die-hard fan of Ben.

Gross Point Blank

Rating: 5. A great combo of romance, comedy and awesome music from the 80s! Minnie Driver and John Cusack make a great duo, and Cusack is a wonderful hit man, hehe!

Armegeddon

Rating: 4.3. Well there is too much to say about this movie. Unlike a lot of the critics published in the papers, I didn't think it was too long, and I didn't think that all the excitement was in the first half of the movie. The stereotyping of characters (by race, gender, sexual preference, class, occupation, etc) did bother me. However, since this is obviously supposed to make a statement about the world, it makes it more fun to analyze. I believe this movie, along with the other recent 'end of the world' movies, is much like "Stagecoach" from 1939, which was made during the depression when men felt inadequate because they were not able to provide for their wives and children. As a result, the movie is given a setting in a time where there was not a masculinity crisis. Likewise, "Armegeddon" is placed in a setting where it is only the men who can save the world. I haven't quite touched on all the bits of my theory, so its not as solid as it could be. But thats basically what I think of the movie. :) If you like to critically analyze movies, this is a good one to see, and if you just go to watch and don't think about it, you'll probably like it..

The Truman Show

Rating: 3.7. The concept was definitely interesting, and I especially liked it because it is something I have wondered about before. However it wasn't anything extraordinary. Aside from the central idea, it was pretty standard..

Air Force One

Rating: 4.5. Pretty good action-type movie, and Harrison Ford is in it. Enough said!

All The President's Men

Rating: 4. Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman are awesome as always. I rented this because I read a book by Bob Woodward about Clinton (The Agenda) and this movie was based on his book about Watergate. Being a political science major, I liked it, but I can see how it might bore some people.

X-Files

Rating: 5.5. Anyone who watches the X-Files obviously has to see this film. Other people probably wouldn't like it because if they did like that type of thing, they would be watching the show!

Can't Hardly Wait

Rating: 3. I don't really see anyone who's been out of high school more than a couple years liking this. I liked it though. Its funny and amusing to see how they portray the teenagers as complete morons.

As Good As It Gets

Rating: 5.7. Helen Hunt and Jack Nicholson are excellent in this. Its worth a rental for sure! Jack's character is a riot!

L.A. Confidential

Rating: 3. I think I just didn't really get this movie. It seemed kind of pointless and too many people were killed in it.

7 Years in Tibet

Rating: 4. Good movie. If you don't know anything about Tibet and the Chinese invasion and occupation, go rent it. If you don't need to be educated, just catch it on tv. Brad Pitt is pretty good in it too.

Sliding Doors

Rating 6. The only thing I didn't like while watching this was somewhere in the middle I remembered something about the ending that I'd heard. This is a rad movie. Gwyneth Paltrow is pretty cool in this along with a few other actors I'd never seen before in my life. Anyways this is a very "everything happens for a reason" movie. Since the character goes through two different days, one where she catches the tube (subway) and one where she doesn't, I was skeptical, but it was put together extremely well.

Inventing the Abbotts

Rating: 5. I'm a sucker for 1950s settings, and the brothers in this are cute too. Their names have escaped me.. Another romance movie, one of those where the boys are from the "wrong side" of town. Catch it on HBO.

Starship Troopers

Rating: 1. Don't even think about watching this. I saw 15 minutes of it (near the end) and I strongly urge everyone to stay away.

Jackie Brown

Rating: 3. It's okay. It was on the schools tv station during finals week, so i watched it as a study break. It has its moments but overall the time could have been better spent taking a nap!

Doc Hollywood

Rating: 4.8. Michael J. Fox in a small town setting as a big important doctor. Its a cute romance; if its on tv its worth watching if you have nothing else to do.

Bladerunner

Rating: 1.5. I hated this movie. I couldn't wait to leave so I left it early (the next day i saw the end of it, it was for school). The best part about it was Harrison Ford. I know its supposed to be some awesome film but I really don't understand how anyone could like it. It's very dystopian and post-modern though.

Princess Bride

Rating: 5.9. I've seen it a million times, plus a few more since Comedy Central has been showing it. If you've never seen it, what are you waiting for? If you've seen it but don't have it memorized yet, get to work!

Bridges of Madison County

Rating: 5.9. I think this movie is really good. I can't think of a thing I didn't like about it. If you didn't live through the '50s, like me, it tells you a little bit about what life as a housewife in Iowa was like. I found it interesting, and it was a good love story.

Kiss the Girls

Rating: 2.2. Kinda too scary for my tastes.

Object of my Affection

Rating: 6. How can anything with Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston, together, not be good?! This is an awesome movie!! I can't really think of anything I didn't like about it. Its a happy movie. If you like romantic comedies you should love this.

Chasing Amy

Rating: 4.5. I really liked this movie! But I didn't like Clerks that much and haven't seen Mallrats.. I liked Ben Affleck in it.

Airplane

Rating: 4. See my ramblings on the other movie page I have.

Stagecoach

Rating: 4. 1939. John Wayne makes a good Ringo Kid. Recently featured in the top 100 films list.

Double Indemnity

Rating: N/A. 1939, I've only seen the first 10 minutes, but it looked pretty good to me! Its one of those film noirs. It was recently featured in the top 100 films.

Imax: The Mount Everest one

Rating: 5.8. One of the best IMAX's I've ever seen. (I've seen a lot!)

Good Will Hunting

Rating: 5.8. I saw this with Lauren, so that was pretty cool because we could point out the Harvard shots and whisper "OMG!" to each other. This is just an awesome movie, which should be obvious if you watched the Academy Awards.

Wag the Dog

Rating: 5.8. Awesome political and Hollywood satire. Dustin Hoffman is wonderful, so is Robert DiNiro of course!

Titanic

Rating: 5. Probably would be higher if the media hadn't built it up so much. Excellent effects.
