Davy Jones Is the Most!

The Scoop on the Manchester Midget Greenie

Hi and welcome to my Davy page, which is the first of each of my individual Monkee pages! First off, Davy's full name is David Thomas Jones. He was born in Manchester, England on December 30, 1945. He can be identified as the cute, short one with the English accent. His biggest known songs with the Monkees are "Daydream Believer," "A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You," "Valleri," and many others. He was a star before the Monkees however. He grew up wanting to be a jockey, and trained for it all the time. Then he found out that jockeys had to serve an apprenticeship of 5 years, so he pursued the entertainment life. He was cast in the Broadway show Oliver! as the Artful Dodger where he gained stardom. He then put out the David Jones album (which is WONDERFUL I might add) and had an almost hit with "What Are We Going To Do?" He then performed in Pickwick and after that was cast in the Monkees. He was the first one picked. He was almost drafted for the Vietnam War in 1967 but got out of it because he was the sole provider for his father in England. He even starved himself for three weeks so he wouldn't be drafted! He was married to Linda Haines on December 22, 1967 which was then to become one of the best kept secrets in showbiz. The powers that be felt that Davy would lose a lot of fans if they knew he was married, so no one was allowed to know. Finally in 1969 the truth came out. They divorced soon after. When the Monkees project endeed, he went on to form a solo career. He came out with the Davy Jones record but it didn't sell very well and his career was virtually over. Davy married Anita Pollinger in 1982, but they are now divorced as well. Between the two marriages, he has four daughters, Sarah, Jessica, Talia, and Annabelle. He is currently dating Gillian Holt who played the Princess Entwined on the ABC special. Thanks for visiting and I'll have the other three bios out soon! Scroll down for a couple groovy Davy links.
