hey Liza! thanks for chatting today. what is the hardest thing about playing gwen? is there anything about her you don't like?

Liza Huber:
That's an interesting question! There are a lot of parts of Gwen that I can relate to but a lot of her characteristics I can't relate to. One of them is her patience with Ethan. I would have left him a long time ago but you have to admire her determination to stand by her man.

How hard is it to work in daytime when you're the daughter of a daytime legend?

Liza Huber:
Another good question! I have to say it's been so much fun for me to be in daytime. Everyone has been really open and welcoming to me. I feel like there are always comparisons but I feel like I've been seen as my own person by the daytime community and my fans which I'm very grateful for.

What's the worst thing about working on a soap?

Liza Huber:
Personally, I really love it. It's great to have a job to go to every day in such a crazy business. I appreciate having the stability. The only down side I guess is not getting to play a host of different characters. Though on PASSIONS we do get to have our dreams and fantasies which feeds that a little bit!

did you audition for any other soaps before you booked passions?

Liza Huber:
No, I didn't. I actually wasn't auditioning for soaps. I was initially audiitioning for a bunch of other things then the night before I was going to go home for Easter in 1999, I got a call from my agent about PASSIONS. I couldn't resist because it's such a tough business

Did you want to be an actress because you went to the AMC set with your mom as a child?

Liza Huber:
No, I didn't really go to the set very much as a child. It's like, what child of a lawyer sits in court all day? LOL. I've been dancing and performing since I was a little girl so when you're a natural performer you just want to perform.

How do you have a normal home life when you have to play all the drama of Gwen all day?

Liza Huber:
That's a great question! I leave work at work and when I'm home, I'm home. Being an actress and getting to play different characters is like free therapy. You let it all out and then you get to go home and be happy. I'm a happy person anyway though so it's all good.

Is there a storyline that you fantasize about playing?

Liza Huber:
Yeah, Gwen with a new man! I love Eric Martsolf and he's one of my best friends but I think I would enjoy working with someone else and I think the audience would as well. Maybe one day, a girl can dream!

are you a fan of other soaps?

Liza Huber:
I don't really watch television very much. I'm the biggest dork, I love HGTV.

Do you think Gwen's relationship with Rebecca is really healthy?

Liza Huber:
Definitely not! And why we're all living together is beyond me. If I was Gwen I would have moved out a long time ago.

why do you think gwen doesn't move on from ethan and be with someone she can fully trust? hank looks pretty good!

Liza Huber:
Hank does look good! Who knows what's going on in the writers' heads!

liza, i really like you as gwen and i'm glad you came back! what made you change your mind and come back to the show?

Liza Huber:
Well, thank you so much! I'm so appreciative of the fan's response to my return. I chose to leave and went back to New York to pursue different things but I really missed acting. I needed to take some time to find out if I really wanted to do this for my career. But interestingly enough the show called and asked if I would be willing to come back and I did. I'm very happy to be back.

Would you ever like to work with your Mom on a project other than a soap? There hasn't been a really good Movie of the Week in a long time! Something to think about... :)

Liza Huber:
I would love to work with my mom sometime in the future if the project was right. So often the mother/daughter movies are so cheesy. We've been approached but the script was so cheesy we had to turn it down.

Liza -- I think you're great on Passions and you always look amazing! How do you do it?

Liza Huber:
Hi Lola, thank you so much for the compliment. That is very sweet. How do I do it...? I look for the light! Wardrobe dresses me in really great things and I try to work out when I can. I just do my best.

FoxTrot
Have you ever done any movies?

Liza Huber:
A long time ago I played a small part in the Lifetime movie, "Ebbie." But basically I got PASSIONS just a short time after college. I would love to work on more things down the road because it's always fun to play other characters.

what's been the hardest story to play? i bet it's the miscarriage stuff.

Liza Huber:
The hardest stuff was when Gwen lost Sarah, not only because of the story itself but because I don't have children in real life yet. It was a challenge for me to work on that story. I was very happy when the writers gave me the story because for such a long time my whole story was just the love triangle with Ethan/Gwen/Theresa so this was a great chance for me.

Other than your mother, of course, is there any soap actor who really inspires you?

Liza Huber:
That's another great question! I think that Eden Riegel on AMC did a really wonderful job on her show and I really think she should have won the Emmy this year. She's completely deserving of all the accolades she's getting.

do work with any charities?

Liza Huber:
When I was living in NY I worked very closely with the Little Flower Children Services of New York which my family has been involved in for a long time. Now that I'm on the west coast I'm looking forward to starting charity work out here.

whose work do you most admire on your show?

Liza Huber:
You know who's been doing a great job is Eva Tamargo (Pilar). She's been given a great storyline and she's doing a wonderful job. She's so committed to the work and it shows. She's also such a lovely person that it's great to see someone you adore doing very well.

Do you have a best friend on the set?

Liza Huber:
I love going to work every day. I have made so many great friends on the show that it's not like work. A wonderful thing that's come out of the show is my firendship with Eric Martsolf. He's become one of my best friends. I also love Mckenzie Westmore. She's such a great girl.
