Just what the Smeg IS Red Dwarf? Well, first, it is a fabulously funny spoof of all those other sci-fi tv shows... Instead of the heroic captain and fearless crew, you get Dave Lister (slobmeister extraordinaire), Kryten, Arnold J. Rimmer, and a sapient cat! (Though some might argue that last point...)
Well here, let Holly, the ship's computer, explain...
Holly: "This is an SOS distress call from the mining ship Red Dwarf. The crew are dead, killed by a radiation leak. The only survivors were Dave Lister, who was in suspended animation during the disaster, and his pregnant cat, who was safely sealed in the hold. Revived three million years later, Lister's only companions are a life form who evolved from his cat, and Arnold Rimmer, a hologram simulation of one of the dead crew."
All clear? Good... Now all you must do is find out which TV station NEAR YOU is playing Red Dwarf, and you too can laugh along with the foibles of the crew!
