Has been friends with Karen Wilder for many years, they went to med school together until she had to quit. Was a resident under Phillip. Was a sports surgeon, one of his past patients was Michael Jordan, until he quit medicine after the Oklahoma City Federal Building bombing. Came back to medicine when Phillip asked him for help.

He has a problem with gambling and has been attending Gamblers Anonymous. Was stabbed while he was in Las Vegas, where he started gambling again (4-18). Won Chicago Hope's Doctor of the Year Award for 1998. Was shot while involved in a hostage situation.
