Chapters 7&8

(Setting: Laura is wondering around the house to clear her mind)

In the almost seven months she had been consigned to this island prison Laura had never become truly familiar with all the rooms and corridors of the main house. Since she felt it was in her best interests to get Stefan Cassadine and what had transpired between them out of her mind she decided to go exploring.

Laura decided to first start with the lowest floor in the mansion, that being the basement. She wasn't at all apprehensive about exploring the house and all its rooms since Stavros had always told her she was welcome in all the rooms since she was the "Lady of the House". That thought made a pit in Laura's stomach so she quickly dismissed the memory. She walked down the stairs that led down the basement and come upon the main basement door. She touched the knob, which was corroded with dust and turned it. It was locked!

This didn't truly surprise Laura because Stavros often kept doors locked, he had an obsession about privacy. But what could he be hiding behind this door??? Laura's curiosity was piqued. Then she remembered the bobby pin that was holding her hair up.

"This should work." And Laura proceeded to try to pick the lock. Luke had taught her how to pick locks a long time ago and she hoped she hadn't become rusty after years of being out of practice.

After a little effort, she succeeded in picking the lock and the door came open with a long and loud creak. After the creak the next thing Laura noticed was the awful musty smell. It was a mixture of grime and filth.

"I really must ask Mrs. Landsbury to clean down here later!" Besides the awful smell, it was terribly dark and Laura was sure she would end up tripping and falling if she wasn't careful. She fumbled around for the light, found it and looked around the room. A large crater caught her attention in the corner so she decided to investigate. She closed the door so no one would see the light on and she glided cautiously toward it and was trying to figure out how to open it. She remembered seeing a crowbar-like thing in the hallway but when she reached for the knob it wouldn't turn.

She was locked in! "Great! HELLO! CAN ANYONE HERE ME???"

She walked back over to the crater figuring eventually someone would come and get her out so she took a seat on the crater. Then she heard someone calling her:

"Laura??" It was Stefan's voice and he opened the door, she was relieved she wouldn't be trapped in here for as long as she thought.

"Oh, thank God you came Stefan, don't let the door…..

But… it was too late. Stefan was so happy to be near Laura again that he didn't head her warning and let the door close.

Now it was just Laura and Stefan in this enclosed space with only their feelings between them and some old boxes, what will happen...

Chapter 8

(Setting: Stefan and Laura are staring at each other still locked in the basement)

"Laura what are you doing down here?" Stefan said, he didn't wanted to even think what it meant to be locked in this room alone with her. He had to keep himself occupied. Why was she down here in the first place. "Well, I decided to go exploring, is there anything wrong with that, I figured I am sentenced here forever I might as well get comfortable with all the rooms in this fortress." Laura could feel the hostility rise up inside the pit of her stomach, she knew it wasn't intentionally directed at Stefan, he hadn't locked the door on purpose but she had to hide her feelings somehow and being hostile seemed the best way!

"Well, it looks like we are stuck here for a while, Mrs. Landsbury is in her room, she couldn't possibly here us, and Stavros is not on the island." Stefan said.

"How did you get in here anyway, I know Stavros keeps this room locked?"

"I picked the lock with my bobby pin."

Stefan was amazed at best, he had no idea she was so resourceful. She had so many dimensions to her character that it could make your head spin, and that was just what Stefan's brain was doing now…spinning! He had never envisioned Laura picking a lock, she seemed so fragile that the thought never entered his mind. Then he figured being married to Luke Spencer she must have picked up some of his tricks. Suddenly the room was getting really hot for Stefan, he started to perspire and he didn't know why. But he knew he should try to get them out of there, who knows what this heat would do to his brain and what his brain would make his body do.

On the other side of the room, Laura was watching Stefan intently. She noticed he seemed uncomfortable all of a sudden and looked like he was sweating. Then Laura noticed that he seemed to be thinking of a way out of here and remembered all she was doing was sitting on this crater staring at him. Since when had she become so lazy??

As both of them tried to figure out a way out of this predicament, Stefan spotted a vent on the ceiling in the middle of the room, he walked over to it, but wasn't tall enough to knock over the cover. If he could knock off the cover, Laura and him could yell through it and maybe get Mrs. Landsbury to hear them through the vent in her room. The only logical way to reach the vent seemed to be if he picked Laura up and then have her knock it off.

"If I can lift you up to vent and you can knock off the cover, maybe our screams will get Mrs. Landsbury's attention!"

It seemed logical to Laura and she figured she could give it a shot, what did they have to lose! Laura leaped off the top of the crater she was sitting on and walked over to Stefan. She turned toward the vent, with her back to Stefan and she felt his hands on her hips. They lingered there for a moment because Stefan's nose was suddenly flooded with the smell of apples, it was Laura, her hair. It took Laura's voice to snap him out of it.

"Stefan, I'm ready!" she whispered, she liked the feeling of his hands holding her too much and wanted this over with, it was too dangerous.

Effortlessly, Stefan lifted Laura to the vent cover and she easily knocked it off then she yelled, "Mrs. Landsbury, can you hear me???? HELLO????"

"WHO IS THERE?? MISS LAURA??" "YES, ITS ME, STEFAN AND I ARE TRAPPED IN THE BASEMENT, CAN YOU GET US OUT??"

"OH MY HEAVENS, I'LL BE RIGHT THERE!"

Thank God, was the first thing that popped into Laura's mind! Stefan then backed up a little to gain back his balance but slipped on some water on the floor, he slipped which caused Laura to turn into his arms to stop herself from falling. Luckily, Stefan caught himself and Laura from falling to the floor. But now, Laura and Stefan's lips were millimeters away.

"Thank you for…..

Before Laura could finish Stefan's lips brushed against hers and she was lost! Before she could catch herself, she put arms around his neck and gave in. Stefan lost control then and there, all he could do was hold her as close as possible, his lips devoured hers, he was sure he was in heaven. This was the most passionate kiss he had ever felt and as for Laura, she couldn't hold onto a thought, she just wanted more of this intense pleasure. It was getting out of control for them both when.

"MR. CASSADINE!!!! MISS LAURA!!!"

Mrs. Landsbury was coming and although reluctantly they both pulled away from their embrace just as Mrs. Landsbury unlocked the door. Laura's face was pink and Stefan was out of breath. "Are you too alright??"

"Yes…. No.. I mean, yes Mrs. Landsbury, we're fine!" said Laura she then looked up at Stefan and walked out of the room, Mrs. Landsbury put a brick by the door to keep it open and left Stefan with his thoughts. He needed a minute to compose himself… what would he do now about this feeling and his actions? What was he going to do?????
