Q&A with Kamar de los Reyes

Q: Was there any hesitancy on your part to return to OLTL?
A: No, not really. Once I decided to come back to daytime, I knew OLTL would be it. It's familiar here and everyone is like my family.

Q: What was your first day back like?
A: It was great! Like coming home. It was a little strange having a new little brother since Yorlin Madera isn't playing Cristian anymore, but David Fumero is a great guy. We have a lot of fun.

Q: What would you like to see Antonio do this time around?
A: I'm not really sure. I think Antonio won't be so quick to react with his temper this time around. That got him in a lot of trouble before. I'm hoping that the show makes some good choices, not necessarily the obvious choices, and that it will all work out and everyone will be happy.

Q: Will you be playing Antonio any differently this time?
A: I think Antonio has matured. He's pulled himself up and his life is together. I don't think he'll be reacting with his fists as much this time around.

Q: What are your thoughts about Antonio returning without Andy?
A: Unfortunately, situations like that are always hard. I feel bad for the fans because I know they invested a lot of time in that relationship. The fans are wonderful. I loved working with Wendee Pratt and I'd love to work with her again.

Q: How did you spend your time away from Llanview?
A: I was able to spend a lot of time with my two-and-a-half year old son. I did a lot of episodic work and had recurring roles on "Promised Land" and Showtime's "Total Recall." I had left OLTL to do the series "Four Corners." I also did an independent film called "Mambo Café" which will start having a limited release this April.

Q: Did you ever consider joining another soap?
A: There was another offer, but I knew that if I came back to soaps it would be OLTL. I didn't really seriously consider another soap.

Q: Do you prefer living in New York or Los Angeles?
A: New York without a doubt! There are certain things about California that I love. The coast of California is gorgeous, and I love Northern California. I try not to compare them, but New York is it for me. When I came here for the first time and got off the plane, I felt like I had lived here all my life.

Q: In high school, were you the class clown or the serious student?
A: I wasn't the class clown, but I don't know how serious I was either. I didn't dislike being in school, but I really didn't love being there either. I went and did my thing, but that was about it.

Q: What did you ever get in the most trouble for?
A: I didn't get in too much trouble, but I did get in some fights. I was never in trouble with the law, but sometimes I'd get called in by a teacher. I was kind of like Antonio in the beginning. I wasn't a bad guy, I just made some bad choices and didn't think things through - without even having the intention of causing trouble. I've always been one of those people that fought against injustice. Now, I like to fight with my brain and words, not my fists.

Q: A quiet evening at home or a night out on the town?
A: A quiet evening at home at this point in my life! A bottle of wine, some friends, that's all I need.

Q: What's the last good movie you saw?
A: "The Insider." Russell Crowe and Al Pacino were excellent. Michael Mann did an amazing job directing it. It's just a wonderful film. I really enjoyed it. I think Russell Crowe should get the Oscar this year, he was just phenomenal. The movie was about twenty minutes too long, though.
