The plane was descending when Callie finally woke up again. She sat with her feet tucked under her looking excitedly out the window. She was talking incessantly, Jax stifled a laugh, she really was just like her mother. When his parent's house came into view her eyes widened.
"The fortress. "
"Hmmm. I guess it is. "
As he angled the plane towards the runway Callie startled him again.
"Is this where Lady Jane lives? "
"Yes. How do you know about Lady Jane? "
But Callie was too excited. She clapped her hands together and was beaming.
"The real Lady Jane. Honest, we're going to meet her? "
"Yes darling, but how…"
"Mommy tells me a fairy tale about a beautiful queen named Lady Jane. She lives in a fortress in Alaska with her wonderful husband…ummm, King John. Yeah, and they have two beautiful ad—adv…"
She bit her lip while she struggled to find the word. Jax grinned. Brenda told Callie fairy tales about his mother, oh it was priceless.
"Adventurous. "
Jax supplied the word for her.
"Yup, "
Callie clutched the yacht to her and bobbed her head.
"Are you one of Lady Jane's son's daddy? "
He still didn't know how she knew he was her father.
"That's right. Callie? "
The plane dipped lower and touched down.
"How did you know who I am? "
She frowned.
"Mommy showed me your picture. Sometimes when I would go sleep with her she'd be holding it. It confused her. "
"How? "
"Sometimes she'd be happy and say, this is your daddy Calliope. And other times she'd sit and cry. I don't like it when mommy cries. "
Jax reached out and gently touched her cheek.
"I don't like it either luv. "
John wrapped his arms around Jane as they watched the plane touch down.
"A corporation for your thoughts dear. "
Jane smiled and took John's hand that was resting on her shoulder.
"Our grand-daughter John. Why didn't Brenda tell anyone? "
"Jax didn't say much luv, but I think the WSB was behind all of this. "
"I hope they find Brenda. I don't think Jax could take losing her again. "
"Let's go meet our son's child Jane. Jerry will take care of Brenda. "
The nightmare was coming again. Brenda moaned and tried to fight it off but she couldn't. Where was Jeryy's voice? Where was he? She only heard Darius now. Fighting against the darkness she opened her eyes and shut them against the bright light.
"Now cara, we have gotten rid of your night watchman. I don't like my plans being thwarted so we're going to have to re-double our efforts. "
Jerry, oh no, what had happened to Jerry.
"They'll find me Darius. "
He just laughed.
"Of course they will Brenda. And when they do you will kill them . Whoever comes for you. Do you understand me? YOU WILL KILL THEM! "
She felt the prick of the needle under her skin, and then a strange tingly feeling. It wasn't RX-2300, but what… oh no. Brenda shook her head and her eyes flew open.
"I see you know what I've just given you Brenda. There will be no return now. Brenda Barrett is dead. "
