Starting Over Chapter 34

~*~* Previously in Starting Over: Jax and Kayleigh discussed the loss of the baby and started the New Year with the knowledge that they would get through it together. Kayleigh’s attackers were found dead, thus allowing that particular part of her attack to be put behind her. ~*~*

Spring returned to Port Charles just in the knick of time for Kayleigh and Jax. They had both had enough of winter and all it brought with it. Jane and John had returned home after the New Year with the promise of coming back often for visits. Jerry had taken up residence in Kayleigh’s vacated house, and was still seeing Larissa. They were frequent dinner guests of Jax and Kayleigh’s. The four of them were often seen together out on the town and had become a favorite of the society pages. Since Kayleigh’s attack there had been no missions for either her or Jax with the WSB. And so we begin, again….

Now that spring had finally arrived Kayleigh was spending as much time as possible outside. Jax had been called away on business two days ago and was due to return this evening. Kayleigh had gotten up at dawn and planned her day. She took care of the necessary business duties and had just returned from the nursery with flowers to plant in their back yard. She turned on the stereo and was opening up the house to allow in the fresh spring air when the phone rang.

"Hello." Kayleigh said cheerily as she reached over and turned the radio down.

"Now that’s what I like to hear."

Kayleigh’s heart caught in her throat. She still hadn’t gotten used to the effect Jax’s voice had on her. Especially in his absence.

"Hi baby! Please don’t tell me that you aren’t coming home today."

"Nope. Actually I was calling to make sure that you were home. I’ll be getting in a few hours early."

"Oh honey that’s great. I’ve missed you more then you can imagine."

"Sweetheart believe me I can imagine. I’m not sure what time I will get home, but I will be there in time for dinner."

Kayleigh laughed. "Good! Now I can call Jerry and tell him he doesn’t have to baby sit me tonight. I love your brother Jax but he really can be a pain sometimes. He has been showing up every night since you left. Actually I am surprised he isn’t here right now."

"Sweetheart, he was just worried about you. This is the first time that I’ve been away since you were attacked."

"I know he is and it’s really sweet, but he can’t neglect his life to keep me company. You know last night he slept on the couch."

Jax laughed. "Why on earth did he do that? Did he forget that he just lives right down the road now?"

"Well actually he showed up after work with pizza and beer. He kind of had a little to much to drink and fell asleep around 11. I just took his shoes off, threw a cover on him and went to bed. I sent him packing with cup of coffee this morning, with just enough time to shower and get to the office."

"That’s Jerry for you. You know if it were anyone but you, I might be jealous of the relationship the two of you have. Jerry has a propensity for falling for unavailable women."

"Jax! That’s terrible! You know Jerry would never allow himself to have any feelings for a woman that you were in love with! He loves you to much for that. Besides he is head over heels for Larissa. And he knows just how wild I am about you!"

"I know that Kayleigh." Jax chuckled. "Have you been keeping yourself busy?"

"Yes. I’ve got two new jobs lined up."

"That’s great luv. When do they start?"

"Actually I have already started them. They are relatively small but very lucrative for me. They won’t take me more then a few days. Strictly computer work and phone calls to order fabrics. I’ve actually been busier in the yard."

"Really?"

"Yes. I’ve spent the last 2 days planting. I was getting ready to go back out and do some more when you called."

"Great. I know you have been anxious to get out there."

"Yes I have and the weather has been perfect. I finished the front yesterday and I am working in the back now. And I think the yard work bug catching."

"How so?" Jax asked curiously.

"Jerry is finally starting that yard work that he owes me."

"Your kidding! Jerry doing yard work?"

"Yep. He sure was. Honey not to change the subject but what do you want for dinner?"

"Nothing. That was another reason I was calling. I have already made arrangements for that."

"Jax, You’ve been gone for two days! I do not want to spend our first night together in a restaurant."

"I don’t either luv. I am having it delivered to the house. But I don’t want you to worry about anything, it won’t get there until after I’m home."

"Well hurry home baby but be careful. I miss you!"

"I miss you too. I’ll be home as soon as I can."

"I’ll be here. I love you."

"I love you too."

Kayleigh sighed as she hung up the phone. She couldn’t wait until Jax got home. She missed him more then she thought she could. She wasn’t feeling needy or clingy, just empty. She had been keeping herself busy and was enjoying what she was doing, it just wasn’t the same with Jax gone. She felt it most when she climbed into bed each night without his arms wrapped around her. Kayleigh called and left a message for Jerry with Addie about Jax’s return. She grabbed a bottle of water and headed outside.

She spent the better part of the morning planting the various flowers in the bed that she had prepared. There was one plant left. She stood up and stretched her back and looked at the lilac bush she had bought. It was going to be her living memorial to the baby she and Jax lost. She took a long drink of water and let the surfacing emotions wash over her. Her mind began to reel. She hadn’t dwelt on thoughts of the baby since her and Jax had discussed it New Years eve. Not a day passed without some small thought entering her mind, but it was different this day. Unconsciously her hand went to her stomach. Had things been different her now flat belly would be protruding with life. She would feel the kicks and turns of a growing life. She closed her eyes and imagined Jax, his hand on her belly a big smile on his face as their baby kicked. She could envision his lips almost touching her stomach, talking to his unborn child. Her eyes flew open and she shook her head almost violently to clear the images away.

"Dammit Kayleigh! This isn’t going to turn out to be a sad depressing day!" She cursed to herself. She jogged into the house and turned up the stereo, then made her way over to the Lilac bush. She chose a Lilac because when it bloomed it was an over abundance of life. Beautiful clusters of flowers that filled the yard with it’s wonderful fragrance. As she bent over to pick up the bush the DJ’s voice on the radio caught her attention. She straightened up and listened.

"That’s right folks we got a fax from someone somewhere over the pacific. He has a special request for a song that came with pretty specific instructions. And it’s now time for that request. Here’s what he wrote."

Kayleigh bent back down to pick up the Lilac bush.

" I am on my way back into the arms of the most captivating, beautiful, loving woman God ever blessed this earth with. She is the best thing that ever happened to me and I love her more then I ever thought it possible to love another human being. Now I ask you how can you refuse a request like that? Ok Jax here’s your song!"

Kayleigh stood up when she heard Jax’s name.

"Kayleigh I hope you are listening. This man is crazy about you! And he obviously wants everyone to know it."

Kayleigh didn’t move, her feet seemed to be riveted to the ground.

"So this one goes out to Kayleigh from the man in her life, Jax. And for those of you wondering, yes it is "that" Jax."

As the strains of music filled the yard Kayleigh sat down on the ground and listened. Tears filled her eyes.

The strands in your eyes that color them wonderful
Stop me and steal my breath
Emeralds from mountains thrust toward the sky
Never revealing their depth
Tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love
I'll be captivated
I'll hang from your lips
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from above

I'll be your crying shoulder
I'll be love suicide
I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life

Rain falls angry on the tin roof
As we lie awake in my bed
You're my survival, you're my living proof
My love is alive not dead
Tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love
I'll be captivated I'll hang from your lips
Instead of the gallows of heartache, that hang from above

Her back towards the house she didn’t see Jax standing on the deck watching her, a Lilac bush at his feet.

I'll be your crying shoulder
I'll be love suicide
I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life

I've been dropped out, burned up, fought my way back from the dead
Tuned in, turned on, Remembered the things that you said

Suddenly Kayleigh sensed someone watching her. She turned her head and saw Jax standing on their back deck. He smiled at her. Without a word she stood up and took off running to him. She jumped up into his arms and wrapped her legs around his waist.

I'll be your crying shoulder
I'll be love suicide
I'll be better when I'm older
I'll be the greatest fan of your life.

"Jax!" Kayleigh cried as she covered his face with kisses. "I am so glad your home!"

"Whoa! I think I might have to go away on business more often if this is the kind of reception I get when I get home."

"You will not!" Kayleigh laughed through her tears. "And the song, baby that was so sweet, thank you!"

"No need to thank me luv. And don’t worry, I won’t be going away on any business soon. Jerry can handle the next crisis."

Kayleigh unwrapped her legs from Jax’s waist and stood up. "Did everything go well? Were you able to straighten things out?"

"Yes. Crisis resolved."

"I’m glad. What’s this?" Kayleigh asked as she looked at the Lilac sitting on the deck next to Jax.

"Well." Jax stammered slightly. "I bought it for us to plant for the baby."

Kayleigh turned and pointed to the lone Lilac bush standing in the yard. "Same reason I got that one."

Jax pulled Kayleigh into his arms. "How about we go plant them then."

*************************************************************************************

Kayleigh got undressed and turned the water on to fill the tub. She lit several candles in the bathroom, poured a capful if bubble bath into the streaming water and dimmed the light. She padded over to the CD player and put in a Kenny G. CD adjusted the volume then climbed into the tub.

"I certainly hope that’s a bubble bath for two." Jax asked seductively.

Kayleigh turned to find him standing there in all of his naked glory. She sat up and scooted forward making room for her Greek God. Jax joined her in the hot soapy water, pulling her to him as he laid back. Kayleigh rested her body against his chest, put her hands on his knees that were on either side of her and closed her eyes.

"This." Kayleigh said in a husky voice "Is one of the things I missed the most while you were gone."

Jax scooped bubbles into his hands and gently placed them onto Kayleigh’s chest. He slowly began to run his hands over her silky skin.

"Kayleigh you feel so good." Jax whispered as his hands made soapy trails across her chest.

"Mmmmm. Can’t be half as good as that feels honey."

As Jax ran his hands over Kayleigh’s body she could feel him harden against her back. He leaned down and started kissing her neck, while his hands continued to roam over her. Kayleigh moaned softly. She tried to pull away but Jax wouldn’t let her. He was just getting started and wouldn’t allow her impatience to spoil his fun. He was going to drive her to the brink of her desire before they made love. The first time he had done that she had gotten frustrated with him, until she experienced the glorious pleasures as her reward. Conceding without a fight she relaxed back against his chest and closed her eyes. Jax would have his way, and in the end they would both share in the rapture. Jax cupped Kayleigh’s breasts in his hands and softly squeezed them while running his thumbs over her nipples. Releasing her breasts his hands began to find their way slowly down her body lightly brushing them on her inner thighs, sending fire through her veins. Kayleigh was thisclose to reaching her breaking point.

She twisted her body around so that she was facing Jax, put one leg on either side of his waist and looked into his eyes. They had taken on the sultry blue gray shade that she found so sexy. Jax sat up and started planting little kisses on Kayleigh’s chest, she arched her back, giving him easier access. He ran his tongue between her breasts, giving her goose bumps. He glanced up at her and smiled, then quickly got back to work. He placed a trail of kisses from her cleavage to her left breast and gently took her nipple into his mouth and rolled his tongue around it, causing it to harden instantly. Feeling slightly devious herself Kayleigh decided she would show Jax she could give as good as she got. She moved her body closer to his so that she was pressed against his groin, causing him to gasp. Jax’s breathing became more irregular every time Kayleigh moved, he was quickly reaching his threshold as well. Kayleigh decided to kick it up a notch, she pressed herself against him a little harder and started to run her hands over his chest. She then leaned over and started to kiss his chest while continuing to run her hands along his muscled skin. As she flicked her tongue across one of his nipples he moaned.

Without a word and in one swift motion Jax stood up taking Kayleigh with him. She wrapped her legs tightly around his waist, and her arms around his neck. Jax agilely stepped out of the tub and walked over to the shower. Holding Kayleigh with one arm he turned it on and stepped in. He continued to hold Kayleigh in his arms and let the shower wash the soap off of them. As Jax leaned down and kissed her , she parted her lips willingly for his probing tongue. It was a kiss full of urgency and desire, a carnality that neither of them would be able to control much longer. Never removing his lips from hers, or letting her out of his arms, Jax turned the shower off and stepped out. Kayleigh grabbed a towel and with one hand dried them as best as she could, which proved to be difficult with her legs still wrapped around his waist and one arm around his neck. She tossed the towel on the floor as Jax carried her into the bedroom.

Jax grasped Kayleigh around her waist, leading her to believe that he was going to set her on the bed. Instead he lifted her torso up just enough so that he could enter her. As he did so she let out a guttural cry. He lowered them onto the bed and began slow pulsating movements. Kayleigh could feel herself starting to let go, her desire for this man so strong that she didn’t know how long she could hold on. She wrapped her arms around Jax and pulled him closer to her. If it would have been possible she would have melded into him. As Jax’s motions became more intense and his breathing heavier she knew that he was on the verge of climax as well. She looked into his eyes and let herself explode in ecstasy. Their eyes locked as they reached the pinnacle together.

"OH GOD Kayleigh!" Jax cried out.He shuddered as his body exploded in pure bliss.

Kayleigh pulled Jax into her arms and kissed him tenderly. "Welcome home baby."
