Tad and Liza

Tad and Liza, circa 1983

Tad and Liza... In Michael E. Knight's own words, "Tad was conceived as God's vengeance on Liza for being a bitch to Jenny." (SOD 5/13/97) Tad and Liza have never shared a really good history. In fact, it's rather dysfunctional.

When Tad returned home to Pine Valley, he was no longer the same Tad he was when he left. (Duh, MEK assumed the role) He was suave, smooth, and handsome. (drool)

While he had been gone, Liza Colby had tortured his younger sister, Jenny Gardner. Jenny had "stolen" Liza's so-called boyfriend, Greg Nelson. Liza didn't take this nicely, and plotted against her. In the end, Liza's machinations always failed. Liza planned in every way to bring Jenny down.

When Tad returned from California, he immediately started. Alfred Vanderpoole, the college nerd, accidentally spilled a shake n Tad's new suit. What did Tad do for retribution? He switched a film for PVU's film club to a porno. Little did Tad know that Liza had pasted a different head on the actress -- it was now Jenny Gardner's! In short, Greg Nelson would up paralyzed from the fall that ensued.

Tad also was a man with a mission -- he wanted to land "that gorgeous blonde ice princess" Liza Colby.

Soon after, Tad was reluctantly hired at the Glamorama to be a shampoo boy. The women loved him for his good looks and charm, but one soon caught his eye -- Marian Colby. They began an affair, all the while Tad keeping his eye on Liza. Liza, in his opinion, as a virgin, was fresh meat... and in Tad the Cad's mind, she was his for the taking.

While Jenny modeled in New York, he was soon discovered by Olga Svenson. He began modeling in New York, but soon lost that job when he was discovered sleeping with another model in Erica Kane's apartment. He was fired, and soon after, bedded Liza for the first time.

He continued sleeping with Marian while he was in Pine Valley, all the while sleeping with Liza. Neither mother or daughter knew that Tad was involved with each other.

Soon, Marian would find out the truth. She found Tad and Liza together in her room. Marian, to her credit, wanted to end the affair, knowing what would happen. In order to continue this with Marian, he resorted to blackmail. He kept it hanging over her head that he would tell her husband he was involved with his wife. Marian continued the affair.

All the while, Tad never felt guilty about his actions. He told his best friend Bob Georgia that he was attracted to both, so why the hell not? He continued sleeping with mother and daughter.

Liza soon found a chain in her mother's bedroom. She recognized the chain. It belonged to Tad. She confronted Tad and thanks to Tad, she found herselt beaten and raped by a trucker. (OK. There is a mixed consensus on this. Some say Liza was not raped, others say she was.) While Tad continued on his merry way, sleeping with everything with a pulse, Liza turned into an alcoholic nymphomanic wannabe. She had an ill-fated crush on Cliff Warner, who worked at the television station with her. Tad had several misadventures before finding true love in Dixie Cooney.

Fastforward to October 2, 1995 -- a day that lives in infamy for some, a day to celebrate for others.(Me? I'm somewhere in between. Love LCC-C, but HATED what she did to Tad and Dixie!) Liza Colby had returned to Pine Valley after a long absence. While she was gone, she obviously had used her brains and body to climb the ladder in the television industry. At WRCW, Tad was the host of the hit talk show The Cutting Edge. He thought he was a shoo-in for the job. Well, guess what? Martin thought wrong. Liza had convinced the owner (this was before Adam bought WRCW) that she was the better person for the job. Tad soon found who the new station manager was. He was shocked. Liza Colby? Back in Pine Valley?

Ugh. Excuse me... I can't finish this... Becoming nauseated... Blecch! Can't write anymore. Can't do it. Won't do it. Won't subject myself to hell again! Thinking of Tad and Liza in same air space making me dizzy... The FATAList Cause must continue! Together? Not ever!!

Oh, by the way... I am grateful to Founding FATAList EG for providing the Tad and Liza history!
