Sons of Thunder

Part Two

We begin by watching the sun hide between clouds and traveling watching the road. We then hear sirens and watch a speeding car being chased by police. The car then veers into the lane of a truck, causing two police cars to collide, and he continues on. This car then comes upon Walker's truck and is pushed onto another road. This car desperately tries to run the truck off the road, as a roadblock of local sheriff is made (not smart).

A Dallas cruiser comes up and a young officer gets out, this is our first look at Officer Carlos Sandoval (oh my he's using a 9mm). Just as the officer and sheriffs discuss stopping this guy, the car comes in at high speeds with Walker's truck following. The officers draw their weapons and hold the line. But when they see the car is going to blow through, the officers move their assets before becoming road pizza.

Officer Sandoval's car wasn't wrecked in the blockade and he gets into his car to help in the chase. The driver of the hot rod sees hot air balloons going up. At this field with the balloons, three children are in one (Tommy, Tyler and Tandy Malloy) and standing next to another is Thunder and Katie.

The oldest boy is yelling to have his parents get into the balloon while his mother refuses to get in. This car stops in the field just as Katie Malloy gets in. Thunder Malloy is pushed off by the man and Katie is told to stay in the balloon as this guy tells the balloon operator to get it up (watch those gutter minds of yours).

Walker comes on the scene and rolls from gunshots to see that pastor Malloy is all right (yes I said pastor, and obviously they know each other).

Just as Walker gets into the third balloon, officer Sandoval gets to the scene and runs to the balloon (he is haulin' butt) and Walker pulls him up as Carlos is screaming (why is he screaming like a child?).

In the air the bank robber puts off a couple of shots to the balloon that Sandoval and Walker are in, as their balloon rises to get above the other balloon. In the background, officer Sandoval begins to hyperventilate and Walker asks if he's ok. Officer Sandoval says he's fine looks over the edge and goes panicky then tells Walker and the balloon operator that he's acrophobic (good one officer Sandoval).

The balloon operator thinks the officer is nuts and Walker questions why he got in the balloon then. The officer's response is "it seemed a good idea at the time" (anyone got something we can knock him out with before he really gets nervous and does something really stupid?).

Walker borrows the balloon operators gloves and gets ready to jump (officer Sandoval thinks that Walker is nuts to do this). And as Walker jumps, officer Sandoval screams (thank god no obscenities though) and we watch Walker hit the other balloon as officer Sandoval shows his joy then cringes in fear to the bottom of the balloon (how brave). {editor's note -- a fellow acrophobic, just want to say, bravery has nothing to do with it. If one could control it, it would be a fear, not a phobia (putting away soap box now)}

We watch as Walker slow slides down the side of the other hot air balloon and surprises the armed robber. Walker and the robber fight in this little basket as he asks if Mrs. Malloy is fine. She replies yes, but points out that the gunman isn't--Walker had him in a chokehold and knocked the robber out.

Once on the ground, officer Sandoval looks as though he has tossed his cookies as Walker and Trivette haul off the bank robber. The Malloy family comes over to Walker and Trivette to thank them and invite them to their annual picnic.

Carlos then gets up and asks the Malloy's if they're fine and they say yes. Mrs. Malloy asks if Carlos is ok cause he looks a little pale and Carlos tells them he doesn't like heights (he sounds like a little child). Mrs. Malloy then tells her husband that Carlos is Trent's friend from when they were little. Walker asks about Trent and Mr. Malloy tells Walker he's fine.

We then switch over to a military base. We hear a voice saying that he's Sergeant Malloy and his training could someday save their lives.

We then see a man standing encircled by others and close into his face as he calls a name (and fingers him over). This blonde in the middle (Sergeant Malloy) defeats the first that comes to his challenge and downs a second. After going through the whole circle, Malloy tells them things to fix and live by (Sergeant Malloy looks really scary).

Back to Dallas, an officer is pulled over a car that was speeding. As the car pulls away, another comes up behind the police car and the officer turns ready to unholster his gun. The mystery man in the steel-toed boots calls the officer by his first name (Mitch) and asks Mitch if her remembers who he is.

Mitch has a flashback where we see a police road block car being rammed into and Mitch's face flash in. Mitch says that he remembers the steel toed boot guy and decides not to unholster his gun, just as the man raises his gun (equipped with a silencer and a laser sight) and shoots Mitch in the heart. Our mystery man gets back into his car and leaves the scene, to return to an abandoned industrial building (which will later double as Carlos' apartment in SOT).

In this building, the mystery man walks into a room and picks up a small object. We then see the object is a black marker, as the mystery man crosses out the State Police Officer Mitch's picture. We also see there are several other pictures there, but we cannot identify whom the pictures are of and whether or not they are also part of law enforcement.

Switching over to seeing a pair of really skinny ankles touching a base, we widen the view to see that it's Alex Cahil tagging base at the Malloy's ball game and family outing. Trivette yells to Alex, as she bows, to stop gloating and we shoot over to see Walker's shaking of the head reaction.

Moving to home plate we see little Tandy (that's the way I want to spell it) Malloy carrying a bat to her father, Thunder Malloy, and telling him to bring Alex in.

As Thunder goes to the plate, we see and hear Rev. Roscoe Jones telling Thunder that he's had it and that he's lost to Thunder's team for five years, and that it's going to end today. Thunder tells Roscoe that this is a ball game and not a sermon as Roscoe replies with an Amen and pitches the ball.

As the ball moves to Thunder, he does not swing and the umpire calls it as a strike. Thunder turns to the ump. and questions if she's blind. Katie Malloy takes off her protective mask and tells Thunder while she may have married him, she's not blind and to stop whining play ball (don't fight with the ump. especially if she's your wife).

Tyler Malloy calls to his mom that she made a good call and then we see Thunder slowly back down from fighting about the strike call, as Katie has her mask on and Rev. Jones is ready to pitch again. This time Thunder connects with the ball and sends it flying into the field. Alex gets to home plate as Thunder is running with his dog, Moses, by his side. Tyler tosses the ball to Walker, who has just missed tagging Thunder by a smidge.

As Thunder tells Tyler he had a good throw, we watch Thunder squelch a bit in pain (probably didn't get enough oxygen in his lungs when running). Walker asks Thunder if he's all right and Thunder tells Walker that he's fine, just that he shouldn't have had a second helping of apple pie before the game.

We then see Tommy Molly come up to bat as Thunder calls to his son to bring him home. Trivette calls Tommy for the ball his way as Tommy says that it's going right over their heads, and we watch Rev. Jones look back at Thunder then at his target. Roscoe throws and Tommy sends the ball flying as Thunder and Tommy begin to take off, as we hear Rev. Jones calling out to his team to hustle it up. Tommy comes around the bases enjoying the moment just as his father is and ends up right on his father's heels.

The ball is coming in and Tommy is pushing his dad to get to home plate so the two of them can make the run. The two Malloy's cross the plate and we see in the background that Thunder ran right into the fence round home plate, as Rev. Jones throws down his glove and says "six years in a row".

Everyone gathers around Tommy at home plate as we see Thunder leaning against the fence and clench his chest. Tommy turns in his celebration and sees the pain in his father's eyes, as Thunder slumps to the ground. We see Moses holding Thunder's hat in his mouth and Thunder hit the ground as Tommy calls out and runs to Thunder's side.

Everyone looks to Thunder and runs over to him, and in this flurry of movement we see the youngest Malloy, Tandy, standing in place with her hands folded staring at everything around her (this is a very touching seen, tissues needed).

We turn to Thunder again, whose eyes are now closed and focus on Moses who is still holding Thunder's hat and is now whimpering.

*****Credits & Opening Walker Theme*****

We come back to a crime scene as we watch the medics load up a black body bag. It is night and we hear Trivette tell Walker that this is the second murder in three days, as the body is seen passing by the two Texas Rangers. Walker voices that someone is randomly taking out cops and Trivette suggests that it might just be someone taking people out, who just happen to be cops. Trivette says that he's tried to find a link, but he's had no luck since the officers killed worked different departments/jurisdictions and they're of different ages. Walker suggests that Trivette then check their arrest records for the last five years, seeing as this might be their only shot to figure out what is going on.

Back at our mystery man's hide out we see him again take the black marker and mark out his victim's face, as we fade into hear the hymn Amazing Grace and see the First Christian Church of Dallas, with Pastor Thunder Malloy written below.

Inside this small but beautiful church, we see Katie Malloy standing next to Thunder's coffin saying that she loved the time they had together, but she wished that it still didn't have to end so soon. As Mrs. Malloy is crying, we see a young man in full dress army uniform coming up behind her as Katie says that she knows Thunder is in a better place and for him not to worry.

We look at the young man standing behind Katie as he hesitates and calls her mom. Katie turns around, with tears in her eyes, and calls the young man Trent and cries into his arms. Trent holds his mother and tells her that everything is going to be fine as Katie tells him that she's glad he's with her now. Trent looks over at his father for a moment, then closes his eyes and continues to comfort his mother.

Moving from above, down the skyline of Dallas we come to see a few people, in dark clothing, walking into a large old style home. And off the to right side of the wrap around porch (or veranda if you prefer) we see Tommy Malloy in a medium weight jacket, sitting in a chair with Moses beside him. Moses is laying in a large dog fluff pillow whimpering and has Thunder's hat sitting right next to him.

Inside the kitchen was see Katie Malloy moving about and Trent asking if she needs help. She declines and tells him that he should go into the livingroom and get to catching up with those out there, just as Alex comes in and says "starting with me," then shoos Trent out of the kitchen while she helps out his mom.

Walking into the dining room, CD tells Trent that the service was beautiful and that Thunder would have been proud. Trent shakes CD's hand, thanks him and CD tells Trent that he should stay by the family because they're going to need him, then Trent continues on to the living room.

As Trent walks about the house looking lost and seeing his little brother and sister being talked to about what's going on, Trent opens the sliding door to Thunder's study and looks at the picture of the church high on the wall. As Trent looks at it, he hears his father reading the Beatitudes and we watch a fading melt of Trent's face, the church and Thunder at the pulpit.

We then hear an old woman's voice calling out Trenton, which brings Trent out of his thoughts. He closes the study doors, thanks the woman and kisses her cheek, then shakes the hand of another woman. They three depart and the woman says to her companion that she's known the family for over 30 years.

Now outside, we see Trent with his sad eyes leaning against the house and move out from his face to see that Rev. Roscoe Jones has also come out side and is just behind Trent. Roscoe is carrying a large book at his side and has asked Trent why he's not inside with everyone else. Trent turns around with his sad eyes, looks about ready to cry, and tells Roscoe that it's hard.

Roscoe tells Trent to sit down and they can talk. Trent sits and thinks for a moment, before telling Roscoe that he feels like he doesn't belong at home. And since he left the seminary for the army he and Thunder (Trent does not refer to his father as dad) didn't have things 100%.

Roscoe then comes in to remind Trent that his father was a great man, but that he took things to the letter, then Roscoe hands Trent a Bible and tells him to look inside it. As Trent flips through the pages of the Bible he finds a picture of himself in dress uniform as the bookmark. As Trent looks at the picture in shock, Roscoe tells him that Thunder never took that picture out of the Bible. Trent looks up from the Bible at Roscoe with relief and sadness in his eyes, as he thanks Roscoe for sharing this moment.

Back inside the house, we see Trent put down the Bible next to a few Karate trophies just as Walker enters the study and comments about the memories from one trophy that Trent now has in his hands. Walker continues to think about when Trent won the trophy in hand and Trent also remembers that day as Walker then asks him how he's doing. Trent says that he really doesn't know how he's doing, but he knows that with everything having to be taken care of, he's antsy as ever. So Walker of course, has a solution and puts the trophy back in its place.

We then move to see Trent and Walker in a ring working out with their martial arts moves (this clip is used in the SOT opening credits). After some time elapse, Walker kicks Trent and Trent falls into the ropes telling Walker that he feels much better now.

Walker comes over to Trent and asks him what his plans are, but Trent shakes his head and tells Walker that at this point he doesn't have a clue. Trent tells Walker that he has to be on base by Monday, but that he has responsibilities to his family and that is what has his mind working overtime.

Walker begins to reminisce about another time when Trent was in a fix and Trent points out that Walker was the one to help. Walker tells Trent that if he needs him, that he'd be there for Trent. Trent thanks Walker (calls him Mr. Walker) and Walker helps Trent up off the ropes.

Switching over to the mystery man's hideout, we see him pipetting a silver substance as he is listening to a police scanner. We then watch as the pipette puts drops of the silver liquid onto bullets and is sealed with candle wax. We then get a look at the pictures that this man has some crossed off and others not.

On the wall are about four more officers, one of which is Carlos Sandoval. We focus in on the top row of pictures where there is a picture of a black officer and we hear the dispatch on the scanner giving an ok to the location of dinner at Mario's.

At Mario's we see the black officer, who is the target of our mystery man laughing with his partner. He excuses himself and goes to the bathroom to "talk to a man about a horse."

We then see our steel toed mystery man walk into the men's room as the black officer is washing his hands (that was quick) and tells the mystery man that the bathroom is all his.

He then turns and looks at the mystery man again and we see the officer flashback to where a blonde white boy is on the ground, then flash to the officer's face. As the officer tries to ID the mystery man, the man calls the officer Ed and says that yes he is….

Then as Ed goes for his gun, the mystery man shoots Ed and leaves the men's room (the gun still had the silencer on). As the mystery man leaves the men's room, we see the officer's hand in the running water of the sink with blood flowing into the sink. The mystery man leaves and the officer Ed's partner is seen sitting in his seat eating his dinner.

Coming upon another bright day in Dallas, we are at the Malloy house where Moses is on his pillow with Thunder's hat under his chin. Moses continues to whimper and perks up as he hears the door of the house open. Trent comes out of the house and asks Moses what he has on the pillow with him. As Trent goes to take Thunder's hat from Moses, Moses puts his chin on Trent's hands. Trent comments on Moses missing Thunder and pets Moses then leaves the hat with Moses and walks over to the garage.

In the garage, Trent uncovers a motorcycle and rides out to the cemetery to talk to his father and clear his thoughts on how to take care of the family (in the background we hear a song with the words "I am my father's son").

Back at the Malloy house, we see the rest of the Malloy family sitting at the kitchen table having breakfast, when Tyler asks his mother why God took their father from them. Katie looks at her son in mild shock and sadness as she tells him that she doesn't know why, but that their father is now their very own guardian angel.

In the background we hear a motorcycle, just as Tandy asks her mom if what she said is right and Katie tells her yes. Just as Trent enters the house, Tommy looks back and tells his mother that he has to go.

As Trent asks how Tommy is, Tommy just blows by Trent. Trent then walks over to his sister and kisses the top of her head and rubs Tyler's head as they say good morning to their brother. Trent then asks his mother what's up with Tommy and she says that he's having a rough time adjusting. Trent then says that he needs to talk to his mom, so she makes sure the little ones are done with breakfast and sends them off to brush their teeth, make their beds and get ready.

As the little ones leave Trent leaves to his little sister and hi-fives Tyler. Trent then tells his mother that he's leaving the army. Katie is shocked and asks why and Trent tells her that he talked to Roscoe and knows how the insurance paid off the house, but beyond that, the family has no money.

Katie says that things will fall into place and Trent points out that is why he needs to be at home, to make sure everything pans out just fine. He then tells his mother that he's applied for an honorable discharge and that until then he has some un-used leave that he can take. He also says that he's got some money saved up and that he's already applied for a job.

Katie gets up from the table and looks at her son, then tells him no and that the army was his life. She continues on that foot and Trent gets up from the table and stands in front of his mother saying that he wants to and has to do this. Katie caves in and tells her son fine and welcomes him home ("CBS…Welcome home" what a cute slogan at this point)

Through out this little talk, the little ones Tyler and Tandy have been at the stairs listening to the conversation and light up with joy as they hear their brother is staying home with them.

At the local mall, we see a woman in a department store looking at clothes and asking her son if he'd think that grandma would like the shirt (the boy is about 5). But we see that the boy is not with his mother, but instead on a tricycle and moving out of the store. She turns around to see that her son Billy is gone and we watch as he approaches an escalator.

The woman goes out of the store as we watch Trent grab a hold of Billy just as the trike goes tumbling down the escalator. Trent tells the boy that it was a close call and Billy tells him yes, with smiles, as Trent asks Billy where his mommy is.

Trent takes Billy to his mom and he comments on Billy turning into an Evil Kinevil (don't look at me I'm not a pro speller) just as a jewelry store is robbed.

Trent looks over the railing as one of the robbers shoots at him, then Trent takes off on the railing of the escalator and does a right outside kick to one robber. Trent then continues with his martial arts knowledge to kick the bad guys' butts (sorry can't give a play by play, don't know the terminology).

As one robber is down, the other gets up and points his gun at Trent, but Trent takes his police baton and throws it at the second robber, knocking the gun out his hand and the guy to the ground.

The jewelry storeowner walks over to his stolen jewels and sees that they're still in the box and thanks Trent for his work, as the jewels were in for appraisal but not yet insured. Trent plays it down as part of the job description, but the jewelry storeowner insists that Trent did much more and that his talent is wasted in the mall.

As Trent moves to take the gun away and to remove their clips, Officer Carlos Sandoval comes on the scene and asks the mother (Billy's mom) who took care of the bad guys. The woman points to Trent and tells Officer Sandoval that he did. Carlos looks over and sees that it's Trent then says his name and smiles. {editor's note -- and it is SOME smile! Be still my beating heart!}

*****Commercials (and non too soon)*****

Coming from a coffee shop in the mall's food court, Carlos is telling Trent he's sorry about Thunder. And as the two sit at a nearby table, Carlos asks Trent what's up with the security job and why didn't he join the police force. Trent tells Carlos that he knows why not, and Carlos tells Trent that they were kids and he needs to let that go.

We then see Trent have a flashback of a little black boy going to a dresser and pulling out a revolver. The boy identified as Trent takes hold of the gun and as another boy fights for control of the gun with Trent, Trent accidentally pulls the trigger. We see a fourth boy, identified as Carlos, with his eyes wide as we watch the little boy who had fought Trent for the gun get shot and fall to the floor. Little Trent is still holding the gun and looks down at it, then his friend, completely scared.

As Trent comes out of his flash back, he tells Carlos that he can't forget the incident and won't carry a gun. Carlos then asks how Trent made it through the army with having to use a gun. Trent explains that he became a hand to hand combat expert and instructor, also that this job is what he's doing to pay the bills and figures out what he really wants to do.

Carlos then asks his friend about his family. Trent tells Carlos that his mom misses Thunder and she's trying to be strong, the little ones are still grasping the ideas, but he's really worried about Tommy.

We then focus over to a school. Inside the gym we watch Tommy running laps and see his friend Adam typing on a laptop keeping track of Tommy's laps (there's a song in the background but CC is not getting the words even close to the real song being played).

We then watch three boys enter the gym and stop in front of Adam and take his laptop, then throw it around. As Adam tells them to give his machine back, Tommy comes up and tells the guys to give Adam his laptop.

The "leader" of this group steps up to Tommy and challenges Tommy to make his give Adam back the laptop. The guy gets ready to hand Tommy the laptop. But lets it fall, then does an outside right kick to Tommy's head. Tommy tries to step up to the bully as Adam is pinned by the other two guys. With one last outside left kick, Tommy goes down to the ground and the bullies harass Adam a bit before finally leaving

(warning, the next scene is absolutely funny, do not drink when watching). That night at the Malloy house, Tommy is in Tandy's room having her put make up on to cover his bruises. He wants her to cover up, but not make him look made up, and Tandy tells him to let her do the work and that it's not going to be easy.

Tyler then holds up a mascara wand and asks what it is. Tandy tells the boys what it is and Tommy tells his little brother thanks, but that his lashes are most likely the only thing not bruised.

The three hear a car in the driveway and Tommy yells his little sister to hurry up. She thinks that he's being bossy and Tommy tells her that he needs it done fast and wants her to do a good job. Tandy accepts this and continues to cover Tommy's bruises.

As Tandy puts on the face powder, she tells her brother that he's looking good. As Tommy leaves the room, his little sister makes a face to her brother that says Tommy still does not look good.

At the dinner table, Trent grabs the mashed potatoes and tells his mother that it beats army food. Meanwhile the rest of the family has their hands folded for prayers, as Trent looks at them like "What am I doing?" The look from his mother reminds him that he needs to say prayers and then the family joins hands as Trent does the honor.

As the family begins to pile up their plates, Mrs. Malloy looks over at Tommy and notices he looks a little out of place. Tandy and Tyler try to distract their mother by asking her to pass various foods around the table to them. Finally Katie gets a good look at Tommy and calls out "Thomas Joseph Malloy -- do you have on makeup?"

Tommy freezes in his place and we look at Trent with a mouth full of potatoes, staring in shock at his mother's words. Tommy hesitates then says yes, as we watch Trent try and choke down his food.

Tommy continues to explain that he got into a fight, Mrs. Malloy isn't happy, and Trent comments on how it looks more like Tommy was hit by a truck than in a fight.

Tommy then gets up from the table and as Katie goes to talk to Tommy, Trent stops her and goes off on his own. Katie then looks over as Tandy, who turns back to eating her potatoes, then over at Tyler doing the same and she wonders about their involvement.

Upstairs, we see Trent walking to Tommy. Trent pushes the door open and asks Tommy if he wants to talk about it. Tommy is sitting and has a cloth to his bruises, when he replies that there is nothing to talk about and that he's not like Trent.

Tommy closes the door on Trent and Trent stands there for a few more moments before going down the hall (he Trent has a slight bow legged walk)

Back at the mystery man's hide out we see him grab his trench coat next to the pictures on the wall and we focus on a two pictures of Officer Sandoval and another officer.

We then fade off the picture of the other officer, to him actually in his own home, off of duty. The officer's kids are running in the house and he takes his gun and locks it up in a desk. He then goes into the kitchen where his wife is finishing up dinner and then goes to the stairs of the house and calls his kids to wash up for dinner.

At that moment the doorbell rings and the officer opens the door to find the steel toed mystery man at the door. The man says hi and calls the officer Danny.

Danny then has a flash back of a man on the ground, shouting and we get a close look of Danny's face, just as the mystery man shoots Danny at point blank range. The front door closes and we see Danny fall against and chair and hit the ground, as his wife's voice can be heard calling his name.

A bit later, the officer's (Danny McEvoy) house is a crime scene. Walker asks Trivette for the skinny and Trivette tells him that Danny was a part of the North Dallas police force.

Just then the new forensics psychologist comes to the two Rangers and introduces herself and gives them her preliminary ideas. She says that this killer is making a point of his victims knowing who he is.

As she leaves, Walker spots Officer Carlos Sandoval in a police jacket looking a bit shaken and embracing himself, as if to shake off some bad thoughts. Walker goes over to Carlos and asks if he's still afraid of heights. Carlos says yes and Walker then asks him if something is bothering Carlos. He says not really, but that he knew the victim, though not well. Walker then asks Carlos if he has any idea who could be doing this, Carlos raises his right brow and tells Walker no, but Walker stare off for a bit as we switch over to the mystery man's hide out.

At the hide out we see the picture of Danny McEvoy being crossed out with a black marker and see that Carlos' is the next picture.
