What is RP?

RP is short for "role play." At various times, us people in #bc get bored and decide we want to insanely pretend we're animal transforming robots tryin to kill each other. We set up characters, more commonly called chars, that are joined to a faction. And then we role play them.

How do I start RPing?

If it's your first time, you'll need to set up a char. Choose a name, faction, beast mode, gender, personality, etc. Then introduce yourself to RP. The most common way is through stasis pods. Announce that a stasis pod is falling, and play it out. Eg, *stasis pod falls to the ground*, *stasis pod scans a lifeform*, etc. If you want, and it's happened before, just introduce yourself to RP and join the Predacon or Maximal faction.

How do I get my text pink?

Pink text is what we use for actions in RP. What makes it different? For one, it's pink. Another thing, is instead of having your name in < and >, your name has a * in front of it. In #bc, *s designate actions. To get pink text, type /me or /action. For example, if you're nick is, say, Bob, and you type /me falls asleep, you'll get * Bob falls asleep.

What's a desc, and how do I get one?

Sometimes in RP, someone will ask for a desc. 'Desc' or 'descrip' is short for description. A description informs other RPers what your name, beast mode, faction, gender, and abilities are. Getting a desc involves complicated aliases. If you have mIRC (and you really should) there is a green button at the top that says /a. Click it, and click the tab "Alias" if it's not on it already. Then, underneath anything else, type a desc. Type /desc /me is a ... and fill out your info. For an example, ask for people's desc while in the chan. Now, whenever you type /desc in #bc, your desc will pop up, like * Bob is a....

What is 'powerplaying'?

Powerplaying is one of the most common newbie RPer faults there is. Powerplaying is when someone designs themselves to be so powerful that no one can defeat them. Inpenetrable armor, for one. If no one can stop you, what's the point of RPing? Calling damage and not taking hits are other forms of powerplaying. Also, teleportation and cloaking devices, dodging every single autogun shot or shot fired at you, marching into enemy bases, suddenly appearing behind someone without warning and kicking them in the @$$... along with using common sense, check the RP Rules to see what isn't allowed.

What's 'calling damage'?

Calling Damage is when you name the damage you have done to someone else's character. You can't shoot someone and say you shot them directly in the eyes and blinded them, for example. Wording is everything. You CAN shoot someone, and say you AIMED at their eyes. This gives your opponent the chance to move, dodge, or take the hit as you planned.

What's 'taking hits'?

You've probably figured this one out by now. Taking hits is getting hit by the shots that have been fired at you. You can dodge some, but you have to take some shots, or you're powerplaying. Taking hits is not only getting shot, but making the shots do something to you. You can't take 10 shots and come out perfectly clean. Bleed a little. Have some fun. Of course, you don't take every hit thrown at you, or you'll be dead in 2 seconds flat.

Do you guys do anything else then just RP?!

Sure we do. Just not much else. ;)

What are the rules?

Check out the Channel Rules page for a full list of the chan and RP rules. In general, though, it's get out there and have a bit of fun, obey the leaders and don't go around slaughtering everyone you come across.

Who are the leaders, factions, etc?

There's a faction page under construction, but until then, we have this question here. There are, and always will be, 2 factions. The good guys, the Maximals, led by Phoenix. And then, the Predacons, the evil ones, led by Botcat. As you've noticed, we are NOT like the show Beast Wars at all. Most of the original characters are dead, and you can't RP an original char. (So, you can't march into the channel, say you're Primal, and take over the Maximals. Primal is dead.)

Someone's breaking the rules. Who do I contact?

If someone is breaking the rules, file a complaint to an op. Do this in a in the channel, in a /msg query, or use SorceryNet's MemoServ if no op is present at the time in #bc. type /msg MemoServ SEND nick message. Replace 'nick' with an Op's nick (you can get a list of em on the Channel Ops page) and replace 'message' with your message.

What's goin on with the dark CR Chambers?!

Eh.... heh. Sooner or later you'll figure it out. *g*

My question isn't on here!

Tough! No, if you have a question that isn't answered here, email the ops at beastieschat@hotmail.com with your question. We'll get to ya ASAP.

Groundrules

Well, after some confusion, I've decided to lay a few groundrules. First of all, LOOK AT THE RP RULES! It'll save you A LOT of trouble! Us ops are *very* picky. There IS a limit of 5 characters per RPer! Also... when RPing, it's suggested that you use capitalization, punctuation, at least TRY to spell, and when you're speaking IN CHARACTER (ic), use quotation marks. Example:

* Bob gets up and walks over to the group. "Hey guys!"

When speaking OUT OF CHARACTER (ooc. This term is very important to remember.), use parenthesis. Example:

<Bob> (Will you all be here tomorrow?)

Please excersize good use of common sense. There are no individual attacks on the bases, and common sense would tell you that you'd get your butt whooped anyway. It is advised that you ask before joining an already started RP, it's very annoying when someone marches in on an established "couple" RP saying that someone is on the telephone for them. (Ok, that hasn't happened yet, but still, ask.) If an op tells you that you're doing something wrong, please do not argue. The ops have been here for a long time, and they know what they're talking about. It's likely that they are just trying to help you out anyway, even if it doesn't sound like it. If you have any further questions, MEMO an op, or email us.

Primus, this one actually says BACK!
