(Marlena, Carrie, and Lexie arrive at St Luke's. The switch is successful. Marlena then thanks Carrie and Lexi for their help. She then finds shelter from the rain storm, in ST Lukes. As she enters the church, we see a shadow following her. We then join John as he is reading over his final letter to his beloved Doc. Dear Marlena, I have been blesses. During our lives we receive many privelages, that are given to us by God. Yet, Doc, God did not grant me any privelages. He instead granted mt the chance to meet an angel. That angel was you. The first time I saw my angel, I was able to read her soul, through her eyes. Also, her touch provided me with such strentgh. Finaly, when she smiled I could read her heart completely. Marlena, I know that loving me has not made your life easy, but I want you to realize that love will help you through this difficult time. Yet, I feel that you will have to continue your journey through life alone, without me. I know that this will pain you greatly. I hope that you realize that I have to take the blame for Greta's death. I do this not because I killed her, but because I brought her into our lives. She caused the death of our daughter. Therefore, pain was felt by you because of me, Doc. I am going to serve punishment for my crimes. I am going to turn myself in and let you go. My angel deserves to fly. I love you, Doc. Please, do not mourn. Take joy in the love that we shared. Belle, was brought into this world because of that love. Remember, Forever and Always in my heart will you be. John (John says to himself) O.K. Doc it is done. Now I have to learn to live without you." "Without me?" (Marlena looks at John with a puzzled look on her face.) "How dare you say that! John what do you have in your hand?" "Doc, this is a letter for you." (Marlena takes the latter and begins reading it) "No, don't read it now!" "Why not now?" (Marlena looks up at John with her eyes filled with tears) "Is this the way it was going to be? I can't believe you! After all that we have been through, you were going to end it with a letter?! Juat a letter!" "No, Doc. That's not it at all." "At all? My God, John, I am not stupid. You bring me here.." (She grabs a rose out of an arrangement at the front of the church) "to St Luke's, the place of our wedding. YOu bring me here to break my heart, to say good-bye." (In hatred she throws the rose at him) "I love you, Doc. I would never intentionally break your heart, because you are my heart. YOu are the single most important thing in my life. It just pains me to know that I might lose you." (Marlena turns John's face and holds it in her hands) "You could never lose me. Never!" (Just then Stefano steps out of the church shadow.) "Oh yes he can and will" "DiMera, why are you here?" "Well, I heard that the man who killed my daughter had escaped from police custody. Knowing you like I do, John, I knew that you would be foolish enough to come here. My goodness St Lukes, don't you have some sence?" (John then walks towards Stefano and points his finger in his face.) "Let's get one thing straight. Greta killed herself and she is not your daughter." "No, John, you get one thing straight, you will get your finger out of my face or I will shootyou!" (Stefano pulls a gun on John) "Oh God, John get back!" (Marlena pulls John away from Stefano) "Now this is so grand. I have both John and Marlena at my mercy." "Come on DiMera, your grief is with me not Marlena. Let her go. We have children that need us. You can kill me, but first I ask you set Doc free." "Set her free, because of the children. What about my child that died. Greta was my child and now she is dead. Yet, that doesn't even phase either one of you. Now..." (He begins walking closer to John and Marlena) "Now a crime was comitted tonight and by law a punishment should be given to those who have sinned. You two have both SINNED! now both of you shall receive your punishment: DEATH!" (Marlena breaks down crying) "No! Please don't kill John. I love him. He did not commit a crime." (Just then Roman enters the church silently. No one notices him. Marlena continues her plea for John's life) "Stefano, you brought John to me many years ago. It's because of you that he is here in Salem. Therefore, it is because of you that Greta met him and fell in love with him. Now, yesterday, Greta tried to kill me because of that love. That love that she possessed drove her to kill my child, John's daughter. Now, I know that you contain a heart and I know that if you look inside it, you will see that we have all lost a great part of us tonight." "I know that we have all lost something. Yet, I CAN'T excuse Greta's death as some act of poetic justice. Now, I shall avenge it by killing both of you. Kneel! Kneel to my mercy and say your last prayer!" (Marlena and John join hands and kneel down. Then the song "When You Love Someone" by Bryan Adams begins to play.) When you love someone- you'll do anything You'll do all the crazy things that you can't explain You'll shoot the moon- put out the sun..... When you love someone (Just then John feels Marlena tighten her grip. He glances up at her and notices that she is crying. He kisses her hand. She looks at him and whispers "I Love You Forever". He repeats the words to her. The song continues...) You'll deny the truth-believe a lie There will be times that you believe you can really fly But your lonely nights-have just begun... When you love someone (Then Stefano speaks. We see Roman pull out his gun) "Stop it you fools! Your time on earth is finished!" (John jumps up and runs toward Stefano. They begin struggling for the gun. Just then lightning cracks and the church becomes pitch black! A gun goes off and the entire church is silent) BACK TO JOHN AND MARLENA FOREVER |
