He took a big deep breath and stepped in, it was his first day today. Inside the building seemed very busy with a lot of people who were working there, the voice of people talking were all around. Chi-nam walked to the room which had the label hung at the front door “Operating Manager”, he knocked the door and opened it

Chi-nam (cleared the throat) : Um.. Good morning.

Wai-sun looked up and saw Chi-nam standing in front of him, his face did not show much expression : “Have the seat, welcome to work.”

Chi-nam : Thank you.

Wai-sun handed the brown envelop to him “Here is your contract and the office procedure. The company will send you to the mainland and you will work there for at least 6 months.”

Chi-nam shouted “Mainland, six months! What does it mean?”

Wai-sun gave him a timid smile “I forgot to tell you, we have big railway project in mainland and we need more people to work there. Don’t worry the company provide the accommodation and living expenses while you are there.”

Chi-nam stood up with angry, he was very upset by this matter “I don’t take this job.”

Wai-sun “Well, I am sorry to hear that. (insulted) I should know before I offered you this job that you cannot live in such area. (took a sigh) I just want to know how could you tell A-dee about this.

Chi-nam’s face turned a bit pale, Wai-sun was right about A-dee, she would be unhappy if she knew that he turned down this job. Swallowed hard, Chi-nam slowly turned back. Wai-sun stared at him but did not say a word.

Chi-nam: My apology to bad manner. I will take this job and as I said before I will try my best.

Wai-sun nodded, “Welcome to work Chi-nam. Please prepare yourself in the next two weeks.”

In the hospital garden

Ho Tin and Cho Fai were sitting in the hospital garden, enjoying the sweet smell of morning air, listening to the bird singing. , Cho-fai encouraged her to go out and Ho Tin fell much more relax. Both of them were very comfortable in each other’s presence. They were talking about non-consequential things, then something was happened. Cho-fai’s hands began to shake and the tea cup in his hands started rattling, his body was trembling. Ho Tin turned to look and him and she was shocked, right in front of her eyes, Cho-fai turned to a deathly pale white color . The color of death! It was happening in slow motion and she could not move.

The tea cup dropped to the ground with a loud band and this woke Ho Tin from her trance. Immediately Cho-fai crumbled to the ground.

Ho Tin then became hysterical and began screaming : CHO FAI, CHO-FAI. She quickly reached his body and screamed : DOCTOR, NURSES, ANYBODY, CHO-FAI, ……

******

A-dee was on the way to hospital, she was holding the fruit basket and some food that she cooked for Cho-fai. Chi-nam supposed to be with her but she had been waited for him for an hour and he did not show. He might be very busy at work, today was his first day, she thought. She did not feel right since she woke up with some anxious, this feeling was with her for the whole morning and she did not understand why.

A-dee came into Cho-fai’s room and found that his room was empty. The nurses were running outside, A-dee quickly stopped one nurse and asked “Excuse me, where is the patient in this room? His name is Kwan Cho-fai.”

“He is in I.C.U. Excuse me, I have to go.”

A-dee was shocked, what was wrong with Cho-fai. She almost flew to the I.C.U, during the way she kept hoping for him to be saved.

*****

Ho Tin and Bo Bo was waiting outside the room for Doctor Ming’s diagnosis.

Bo-bo (tried to comfort Ho Tin) : Don’t worry too much, he will be saved. She turned to place her hand on Ho Tin’s shoulder. She was now knew that Ho Tin had very strong emotion to Chi-fai, it could have loved. She had been suspicious of Ho Tin’s feeling toward Chi-fai and today her reaction was proof that she was in love with him.

Ho Tin’s face was white and withdrawn : I don’t feel right. I feel very nervous, like something bad was happened! I don’t think Cho-fai’s collapse was just normal collapse.

Bo Bo laughed nervously : Don’t be silly Ho Tin. Cho-fai will be fine.

Both females were then silent, each having her own thoughts. Bo Bo hoping that Cho-fai was all right because he was her friend. Ho Tin hoping he was all right because she loved him, but for some reason she could not remove the feeling that his collapsed was her fault.

A door was opened, Doctor Ming had a grim look on his face.

Bo Bo : How was he?

Doctor Ming : I don’t know how to say this but it seems that Chi-fai has been poisoned!

A scream rang out. It was Ho Tin’s : NO!!! NO!!! NO!!! …

She then grabbed Doctor Ming’s coat : You are lying! How could he be poisoned!!! NO!!! NO!!!. It’s all my fault that he was poisoned, it’s my fault. I know he did it, he did it, I know!…

Ho Tin kept screaming and yelling. Bo Bo and Doctor Ming tried to calm her down, but nothing they said could calm her.

Mr. Kwok Ka Lung was in his office talking to many other business associates. When all of a sudden Lai Ming Choi opened his office with angrily and strode into the room demanding a private audience with Kwok Ka Lung. Behind Lai Ming Choi was Kwok Ka Lung’s secretary.

Kwok Ka Lung’s secretary : (said with an apologetic voice): I am sorry Mr. Kwok. I am so sorry. I told Mr. Lai that you are in the meeting and you cannot see him but he pushed me aside and walked in.

Kwok Ka Lung lifted his cold eyes from the document that he was reading, gazed at Lai Ming Choi and then spoke to the other business associates with the cold voice “It seems that I have something more important to discuss with Mr. Lai at the moment. This meeting is adjourned, we will continue the other day.”

He turned to his secretary : Show these men out for me.

After the door closed behind the last of the business associate and the secretary leaving. Kwok Ka Lung once more turned his cold eyes to Lai Ming Choi.

Kwok Ka Lung : (said with the menacing voice) What can I do for you? You know that I hate being disrupted when I am in my private meetings!

Lai Ming Choi : (very angry but controlled his voice) You know why I have come here!

Kwok Ka Lung took off his glasses and slowly began to clean them : No I don’t. Why don’t you enlighten me?

Lai Ming Choi : I asked you to find a place for my son in your business.

Kwok Ka Lung replied with a very hateful smile on his face : So I did!

Lai Ming Choi finally lost his control and yelled : You know that I meant for you to find him a position in the legitimate side of your business!

Kwok Ka Lung replied with the calm voice : Really? How was I supposed to know that? You only asked me to find him a position and you did not specified. So I find him a position.

Lai Ming Choi was very angry but tried not to lose control because Kwok Ka Lung was still his boss : I would like to have him removed from the position that you gave him.

Kwok Ka Lung : Fine, if your son wants to be removed.

He then turned to the document that he was reading and dismissed Lai Ming Choi.

Lai Ming Choi knew that he was dismissed, he walked out from the room but was still very upset. When he walked back to his office, his secretary came running to him and spoke with the low voice.

The secretary : Mr. Choi, something disastrous has happened to your daughter. The hospital just rung and said that your daughter, who was recovering so well recently, has suffered a major downturn and is going crazy. She is screaming and yelling terribly and can’t be controlled. They say that this is her worst, and if you don’t come to help calm her down she may harm herself…

Lai Ming Choi did not listen for the whole sentence, he faced turned pale. He rushed out from his office, wanted to arrive the hospital as fast as he could.

*****

In front of I.C.U. room

A-dee did not believe what she was seeing, in front of her was one young lady crying terribly, screaming and yelling to the nurses and doctor who tried to calm her down. All the time she kept screaming “Cho-fai, Cho-fai” and “It’s my fault, my fault, I know who did it” as if she were insane. Finally the Doctor Ming gave her a shot and the nurses took her out.

Bo Bo found A-dee was there. “Bo-Bo, what happening. How is Cho-fai? Where is he?” she asked with worrying.

Bo-Bo “Calm down A-dee, we still don’t know yet.”

A-dee (raised her voice) : Don’t know. Tell me what’s wrong with him. Bo-Bo tell me. Please.

Bo-Bo fell that it was very difficult to give the answer : Doctor assumed that he was poisoned.

A-dee : (shocked) Poison! How could it be? Cho-fai is very good guy, he has no enemy.

Doctor Ming came back with the worried look on his face, A-dee ran to him “Doctor, Doctor, please tell me Cho-fai is saved. Please.”

Doctor Ming : I cannot tell you now, his condition is very heavy. (took a big sigh)

A-dee’s tears starting dropping : Doctor, please. Please help him, please, don’t let him die.

Doctor Ming (took another sigh) If he could pass tonight…

A-dee said with hope : He will, Doctor. (begged) Please, let me stay with him.

Bo-Bo : Please, Ming. I will stay with her too.

Doctor Ming nodded and said : Yes, you can stay with him. I will also stay here whole night and will come by to check him.

A-dee came in the room, Cho-fai laying on the bed, his face was very white and his breath was so light “Cho-fai, please wake up, Cho-fai. I am here now, I cannot lose you. Cho-fai, please.” She sobbed, her shoulders was trembling as she was crying very hard. Bo-Bo almost cried but she tried to hold her tear, she touched A-dee’s shoulder “We will pray for him, A-dee.”

outside Cho Fai’s room

Bo Bo with a worried look on her face: Doctor Ming will Ho Tin be all right?

Doctor Ming: don’t worry, Ho Tin will be all right. Its just the shock of hearing about Cho Fai being poisoned.

Bo Bo then turned to face Doctor Ming and asked nervously, a question which had been in the upper part of her mind ever since hearing about Cho Fai’s poison: Tell me truthfully, will Cho Fai recover?

Doctor Ming couldn’t look Bo Bo in the eyes: I’m sorry Bo Bo I can’t give u an answer. He has slipped into a coma. It could be a few hours, maybe days, months or even years before he regains consciousness. Even if he does regain consciousness I can’t assure u that Cho Fai will be the same man. He . . .

Bo Bo with tears in her eyes: Stop! Please don’t say anymore! I don’t want u to put his condition into words, I understand perfectly what your trying to say. Just please don’t put it into words, if u don’t put it into words then I can keep hoping that this horrible incident has never occurred, I can just pretend to myself that he has had another one of his heart seizures and soon he will wake up and be the same happy guy.

Bo Bo with sadness in her voice: Why does this have to happen to Cho Fai? He was just getting so much better.

Doctor Ming places his hand around her shoulder: I’m sorry Bo Bo. U really do care for all your friends don’t u?

To himself, Doctor Ming thought “I just never knew how much before”. Doctor Ming now knew why he had feelings for Bo Bo. Before he hadn’t understood why he had feelings for her, he had thought that he was attracted to her because of her pretty face, but then there were many females who were prettier than Bo Bo, but he wasn’t attracted to them. But now he knew why. His feelings were much deeper than that. All along he had been attracted to her not because of her looks but because of her caring, compassionate nature, on a subconscious level this was what had drawn him to her.

Bo Bo truly cared and loved all the people around her. Bo Bo was a volunteer at the hospital and whomever she attended to, she lit up their day because she truly cared for their welfare. She would work tirelessly to raise money for someone to have an operation or put in the required money herself. She would visit patients even after they had been discharged from the hospital to just make sure that they were okay. It was the same with her friends, if anything hurt them then she would also hurt. Cho Fai was Bo Bo’s friend, she cared for him. There was nothing disgusting in her feelings towards Cho Fai, she truly thought of him as her friend.

*********

In Ho Tin’s room, the tranquilisers were starting to work when someone opened the door . . .

Ho Tin’s stepfather walked in. It was Lai Ming Choi. He quietly walked over to the bed. Previously when he had just arrived at the hospital he was fearful of finding a hysteric Ho Tin but Doctor Ming told him that they had been forced to give her some tranquilisers to calm her down.

Lai Ming Choi entered Ho Tin’s room. He turned to the nurse who had followed him into Ho Tin’s room: What happend with my daughter? She was getting better wasn’t she?

The nurse answered politely: Mr Lai, your daughter entered into a state of shock today because of her friend Kwan Cho Fai’s collapse. His collapse made her lose control and become hysterical again.

Lai Ming Choi asked in bewildernment: Kwan Cho Fai, who is he?

The nurse explained to him: He is one of our patients. He has been a patient of this hospital for many months because of his weak heart condition. He too, like your daughter was getting better but I heard that his recent collapse was because he was poisoned.

Mr Choi repeated: Poisoned?

The nurse then left the room, so that Lai Ming Choi could be alone with his daughter!!

Lai Ming Choi silently pulled a chair next to Ho Tin’s bed. Ho Tin was laying on the bed, her little face was so pale, her eyes were wide open but staring blankly into space.

He asked: Ho Tin, are u awake? What happened? What set u off? Doctor Ming told me that u were getting so much better until u heard your friend was poisoned. Its not your fault, my daughter. He probably has a lot of enemies.

Ho Tin did not reply.

He pleaded: talk to me Ho Tin talk to your father. If u like I will get some of Mr Kwok’s men to find out who poisoned your friend.

He then smoothed Ho Tin’s hair off of her forehead. He could remember the happy days when she was so healthy and well. But now, Ho Tin was so fragile.

Feeling the touch of Lai Ming Choi’s hand on her forehead, Ho Tin all of a sudden sat straight up and screamed at him: GET OUT OF MY ROOM I HATE U! U MAKE MY SKIN CRAWL!! GET OUT!!! And don’t u ever call me your daughter because I am not your daughter, you are not my father, I am only your stepdaughter!!! GET OUT. Mother, mother, help me.

She started screaming more and more at the same time trying to push him away from her.

Lai Ming Choi was shocked by her reaction, he grabbed Ho Tin’s hands and cried out: Ho Tin, please calm down, Ho Tin, Listen to me, I am your father.

She then gave a cruel laugh: I bet u if u had the chance u would do the same thing to me as Kwok did!!

She was so angry, she hated what Kwok did to her, it made her feel disgusted, his actions also made her feel that she was the lowest of low. She then grabbed the vase on the table next to the bed and smashed it over his head, it wasn’t Kwok’s head but who cared Lai Ming Choi was his assistant. The vase smashed and blood appeared on on Lai Ming Choi’s forehead.

Upon hearing the noise of something smashing, the nurse who was waiting outside the door rushed into the room and immediately seeing the situation ushered Mr Choi out so that she could tend to his wound.

All this time Mr Choi’s couldn’t feel the pain that his stepdaughter had inflicted upon him, instead in his mind he kept wondering what Ho Tin said: “if u had the chance u would do the same thing to me as Kwok did”.

He kept thinking to himself what had she meant? What had she meant? What had she meant? What had she meant? What had she meant? What had she meant? . . .

Didn’t she know that he loved her for she was his real daughter not stepdaughter!!!

After a doctor had attended to his wound he went back to see Ho Tin, HIS daughter. The doctor had tried to stop him but he wouldn’t listen. He also told the doctor that it didn’t matter what the noises they heard coming from the room, they were not to enter it, until he told them that they could.

Question

Why would the doctors listen to Lai Ming Choi’s orders? The reason is because Mr Choi is a sponsor of the hospital, ever since Ho Tin was admitted to this hospital Mr Choi began making huge cash donations to the hospital.

Once more Mr Choi entered his daughter’s room. This time though, he knew that he had to tell her that she was his daughter and asked her what she meant about Kwok.

Upon seeing Lai Ming Choi enter her room again Ho Tin yelled: Mother, mother, help me!!! Don’t let him take me away. He's come for me!!!

She then pointed towards the door: get out, don’t come near me. please don’t hurt me. Cho fai help me. he is going to take me to the man who hurt me, the man who is a bad guy. Cho Fai!!!

Pulling herself into a small ball on the bed and holding onto one of the bedposts: don’t come near me, get out!!!

She then whimpered: please ...

Ho Tin was out of energy, she knew that if this man wanted to take her back to Kwok, then she could do nothing about it. Tears starting falling down her cheeks, tears that she couldn’t stop. She didn’t want to appear weak in front of this man, the assistant of Kwok.

Lai Ming Choi didn’t know what to say. He knew though that he had to tell her the truth, so then she would trust him enough to tell him what she had meant before

Mr Choi sat down onto the chair next to the bed and in a very gentle voice: Ho Tin, your mother and I should have told u this years ago but the truth is I am your real father. I am not your stepfather but your real father.

He then took her small hand and held it in his large ones, Ho Tin tried to pull hers away, but he held onto it firmly: the blood in your veins is the same blood in mine. I am your biological father.

Ho Tin: No!!! No, your lying . . . my name is Chueng Ho Tin and my father is dead, he died as a warhero. My family name is Cheung and yours is Lai.

He couldn’t be her real father.

Lai Ming Choi: No, I am your real father. A long time ago your mother and I were young sweethearts but because of my ambition to be rich I left your mother. If I had known that she was carrying my child I would have never left her. Eventually 5 years later as a wealthy man, I came back for her. By then u were 5 years old and your mother had lied to the world that your father, her husband had died in the war. This was to protect u from the stigma that u would have had to suffer if anyone had found that u were born out of wedlock.

Ho tin started hitting Lai Ming Choi: no your lying, I won’t believe u!!

But in her heart she knew it was the truth. She could remember clearly on her mother’s deathbed her mother telling her that she knew that Ho Tin would be well cared for after she had gone, because her father had come back. At that time Ho Tin hadn’t understood what her mother had said, but now she did.

Ho Tin started crying hysterically again: your lying, your lying, your lying. U can’t be my father. That means u helped him rape me!!! if you are my true father, kill him then!!! Kill him for he has violated your daughter.

Lai Ming Choi went still. Raped her? Who had raped her?

Lai Ming Choi in a very silent voice: tell me, who raped u?

Ho Tin laughed hysterically: don’t u know, it was Kwok!! Kwok who also poisoned Cho Fai . . .

*****************

outside the hospital grounds

Lai Ming Choi let out a hideous scream, he then began to pound his hands together. Kwok, Kwok had raped his daughter and introduced his son to the tastes of heroin. Kwok!!!! Inside Ho Tin’s room he had kept himself controlled. He had held onto her and let her cry, he had told her . . .

Lai Ming Choi: don’t cry anymore. Don’t cry anymore, I promise u everything will be alright. He won’t hurt u anymore . . .

But he knew that his words could never take away or heal her pains. He had failed her once, but not again!!!

He wanted to draw blood. He thought of Kwok as his brother, but this was the way Kwok returned his friendship. He then swore to himself: u will pay Kwok. Pay for everything. In his mind he then began slowly plotting Kwok’s downfall and to himself he thought, beware Kwok for I am a patient man.

It has long been stated and proven many times in history: Beware the fury of a patient man.

in Cho Fai’s room . . .

Wai sun, A-dee and Bo-Bo were in Cho-fai’s room, Bo-Bo was sleeping on the couch and Wai sun had gone outside for a brief nightwalk because he couldn’t bear to see Cho Fai so lifeless. However, A-dee was still awake and in the room, she was holding onto Cho-fai’s hand and talking to him. Doctor Ming had told A-dee, Wai-sun and Bo-bo to continuously talk to him for this would help wake him up.

A dee: Remember, Cho-fai. The day we were young and about 9 years old. It was the lunar festival and we went to the temple. You wore a very nice suit and I wore the pink dress. U, me and Wai-sun played with firecrackers and it brunt someone’s dress. We laughed a lot. I remember that Wai-sun and u had a beautiful dragon lantern but I got a fish lantern. I didn’t like that lantern and u were so kind and swapped yours for mine.

She continued with a shaking voice: another story, remember when we walked pass an orange stall and the oranges looked very yummy. U tried to stop me from stealing the oranges but I wouldn’t listen to u. I was very naughty, wasn’t I? Unfortunately, the owner caught us and we were punished. It should have been only me who was punished but u said it was your fault too. I am very sorry for that Cho-fai, u were so nice and u never got angry with me.

Tears started falling from her eyes, A dee quickly wiped them away: she then pleaded Cho-fai, please wake up.

Bo-bo had woken up and heard all the things that A dee said. Bo bo cried: A dee?

A dee turned to Bo-bo: What should I do Bo-bo? I . . . I . .

She choked, her tears were now falling as quickly as a waterfalls.

Bo-bo did not know what to say, the only thing she could do was to hold A-dee but she too, was crying inside for Cho-fai.

*****

Cho Fai was dreaming . . .

Cho-fai was walking in a beautiful garden. He could smell the fresh air and the sweet scent of the flowers. He felt much better now, he did not feel tired or needed to rest although it was a long walk. He was all alone in the garden and wondered where other people were. He kept walking and then he saw a man sitting on a bench with his bowed down. The man then lifted his face and smiled at Cho Fai, it was his father.

Cho fai began to ran towards his father: Father, Father its u!!!

His father stood up and waited for Cho Fai to reach him.

Then he heard his name being called: Cho Fai, Cho Fai!!

He turned around to see who it was that was calling him, it was A dee.

A dee kept calling: Cho-fai, please come back. Don’t leave us, there is me, Wai Sun, Bo Bo . . .

Cho-fai was in the middle of the garden. His father was on one side and A dee on the other. Who should he choose?

A dee then said: there’s also Ho Tin.

Ho Tin, Ho Tin. If he left her she would be all alone and forlorn. She had no friends apart from himself. He had promised her that he would look after her and not let anyone hurt her. He couldn’t leave her!!!

Cho Fai then turned around and began running towards A dee’s side.

*****

The next morning, A-dee was sitting next to Cho Fai’s bed. Her eyes were red and black lines clung under her eyes.

Bo Bo had gone out of the room to get some water, when she re-entered she said: A dee, have some water. You must take a rest. I will look after him.

A dee refused: No, I will stay here, I cannot leave him.

They did not notice a little movement in Cho Fai’s little finger.

Bo Bo tried again: A dee, u must get some sleep, u did not sleep for the whole night. I will stay with him and as soon as he wakes up I will tell u.

A dee insisted: No, Bo Bo, I am not going anywhere, I want to stay with him

“Ho Tin, A dee, Wai Sun, Bo bo . . .?” the voice was so soft but A dee and Bo Bo heard it clearly. They immediately rushed to Cho Fai’s side. At that moment, Wai sun had also just entered the room, upon hearing his voice he also immediately rushed over.

Cho-fai opened his eyes in front of him were all of his closest friends, people who cared about him. Wai Sun, Bobo and A dee.

Cho Fai could see the tears in A dee and Bobo’s eyes, he then told them in a very soft voice: don’t cry for me beautiful ladies.

All three of the people beside the bedside burst into huge smiles even while tears dropped from their eyes. They smiled because they knew that Cho Fai had truly recovered if he could joke with them.

Wai Sun in a happy voice: I will get the doctor now.

He then rushed out the door.

Cho Fai then turned his head as if looking for someone else, he then asked: Where is Ho Tin?

At the hospital, outside Cho Fai’s room . . .

A-dee was waiting outside Cho Fai’s room while Doctor Cheung Ming was treating

Cho-fai, Doctor Ming had said that it was a miracle that Cho-fai had woken up. A-dee

thought about the girl named “Ho Tin”, Cho-fai kept asking about her and wanting to

see her, but Doctor Ming had told him that he could see her when he was stronger. She

remembered having seen that girl once, a fragile girl whom people believed was insane.

However, Cho-fai didn’t believe that she was insane and he had become her only

friend in the hospital. A dee thought to herself, “that is the real Cho-fai, born with a

golden heart, he does not look skin deep but looks deeper than that, into the real

person”.

Ho Tin was standing behind a column, staring at A-dee. Was this the girl who had

Cho-fai’s love? Ho Tin was envious of this girl, both because Cho-fai treated her like a

princess and the position that this girl had in Cho-fai’s heart. That girl was so adorable

with her cute pretty face . . .

Ho Tin was in her own world and did not notice someone standing in front of her until it

was too late, she focused her eyes and in front of her was A dee.

A-dee : Excuse me, are you Ho Tin?

A-dee gave her a brilliant smile, Ho Tin could not help but smile back for she had seen

clearly that A dee’s big black eyes reflected her true feelings and Ho Tin had seen that

A dee was a gentle and honest person.

A dee: He has woken from his unconsciousness and keeps asking for u. Do you want

to see Cho-fai?

Ho Tin quickly nodded.

A dee then grab hold of Ho Tin’s hand leading Ho Tin to Cho Fai’s room. Ho Tin

looked down at A-dee holding her hand and a warm feeling of friendship ran straight to

Ho Tin’s heart. In that instant, Ho Tin realised that A-dee was her friend and that she

would never be jealous of A dee again.

At Kwok Enterprise . . .

Kwok Ka Lung stepped out of his Limousine, his secretary came to his side.

Secretary: Sir, Master Yang Wai Leung is waiting for you.

Kwok Ka Lung did not say a word instead his reply was a glare which was so

frightening, the secretary took a step backwards.

Master Yang was waiting impatiently for Kwok Ka Lung. He had almost bumped into

Leung Yong last night at a restaurant. Luckily for him, Leung Yong had not seen him

and he had to immediately excuse himself to his friends saying that something more

important and unexpected had occurred. Leung Yong was a very intelligent man, his

intelligence had made him one of the richest men of Shanghai and Hong Kong. He,

Yang, could not easily lie to Leung Yong as he had Chan Khun. This was the reason he

had come to see Kwok Ka Lung today.

Out of frustration he began pacing the room. He then walked near to Kwok’s table and

looked at the pictures hanging on the wall. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see a

photo hidden in Kwok’s chair. Pulling the picture carefully out from the soft chair, it

was the picture of a young girl with the name “Cheung Ho Tin” written on it.

“Chueng Ho Tin” he repeated. It was the name of the girl who had paid the hospital fee

for Cho-fai, he remembered Wai-sun telling him. His eyes opened wider with

recognition, this girl was Lai Ming Choi’s stepdaughter. What was the relation between

kwok and this girl? He then quickly pushed the photo back where it had come from

and stepped away from the chair, he was just in time as the door opened.

Kwok Ka Lung : Well, well. Master Yang, what makes you come to see me?

Master Yang : I have something very urgent to discuss with you. I met Leung Yong last

night, but he did not see me. What should we do now?

Kwok Ka Lung (raised one of his eyebrows): We. You mean YOU, not WE.

Master Yang: what do u mean?

Kwok Ka Lung had a wicked smile on his face: I have a lot of work to do today and I

don’t have time to listen to you. I had nothing to do with Leung Yong, I was not the

one who betrayed friends and was not the person who organised the killing of the Fook

family.

Master Yang was shocked and then in an angry voice: You have to help me. Leung

Yong will find me, he is a very intelligent man, if not he would not be where he is today,

and he will know what I had done. It’s because of you, if you didn’t trick me, all those

things would not have happened. You have to help me!

Kwok in a harsh voice: didn’t u hear me? Get out!! Or I will call security to throw you

out.

Master Yang’s face turned red and then purple, he tried very hard to control himself,

he then left the room slamming the door behind him.

All this time Lai Ming Choi had been standing outside Kwok’s room, the door had not

been closed properly and he had heard everything. He had also seen Master Yang’s

face after leaving Kwok’s room. He had never liked Kwok before a pretentious

person who would betray all those around him for enough money, but now maybe he

would be useful.

inside a very luxury room in an expensive hotel, Leung Yong was sipping tea while

reading a letter . . .

Leung Yong called out: Chi-zen, read this letter.

Chi-zen quickly read the letter: Sir, what should we do?

He gave his boss a worried look: If the strike occurs, it will ruin our business.

Leung Yong in a calm voice: Don’t worry Chi-zen. They just want more money,

actually I was intending to raise their pay but not very soon though. I will go back to

Shanghai and talk to them about the strike.

Chi-zen: I will arrange 2 the train tickets Sir.

Leung Yong: Just one ticket and I want to go tonight. You are to stay here and look

after my business in Hong Kong.

Chi-zen tried to say: Sir, but . . .

Leung Yong: don’t worry about me. I need you to stay here not only for work but to

also look out for my headstrong son.

He sighed.

Chi-zen looked at his boss with understanding: I understand Sir. Please take care of

yourself.

Leung Yong patted Chi-zen’s shoulders: I will.

****

At a party . . .

Fong Fong was in attendance at a party, a party in which she had not wanted to come

but she had been unable to say “no” to her father. Fong Fong never liked attending

parties. Tonight she looked very sophisticated, her dress was very expensive and

beautiful but hung off her shoulder. As a result many men were staring at her pale, white

delicate bare shoulders.

Pan Wang, Fong Fong’s father never missed any party because he did not want to miss

any opportunity to become acquainted with rich people. He now approached one of

the most powerful person in Hong Kong, Kwok Ka Lung.

Kwok Ka Lung attended this party with his daughter, Kwok Hui Yee, she was wearing

a very fashionable dress with very expensive jewelry. Many men were attracted to her,

like bees attracted to honey, not for her beauty but rather because of the power that

her father wielded.

Pan Wang grabbed hold of Fong Fong’s hand and dragging her after him, led her

towards Kwok Ka Lung.

Pan Wang: Mr. Kwok, may I introduce my daughter to you, Fong Fong.

Kwok Ka Lung gave her a leering smile, a smile which disgusted Fong Fong.

Kwok Ka Lung taking hold of the hand which Fong Fong was forced to give him, and

raising it to his face placed a disgusting kiss on it. He then looked at her and never once

letting go of her hand or removing his eyes from her face: It is my pleasure to meet you,

Miss Fong Fong.

A man then interrupted them: Excuse me, Sir. May I introduce myself. I am Wong

Chi-zen.

Fong Fong turned to look at him with surprise and then a grateful look, at the same

time also pulling her hand out of Kwok Ka Lung’s grasp. Kwok Ka Lung gave Wong

Chi-zen an unpleasant look.

Wong Chi-zen: I am Mr. Leung Yong's assistant and I represent him at this party.

He then turned to Pan Wang: You should be Mr. Pan Wang, my boss always talk

about you.

Pan Wang gave him a big smile and shook his hand: Nice to meet you too. This is Fong

Fong, my daughter.

Chi-zen gave a brilliant smile and said: Mr Pan Wang, u are fortunate to have such a

beautiful daughter, it would be my pleasure to invite her to a dance.

Chi-zen then took Fong Fong away from Kwok Ka Lung and her father. Instead of

taking her to dance he led her to the balcony, he then took off his jacket and

approached Fong Fong. Fong Fong automatically stepped backwards but Chi-zen said

. . .

Chi-zen in a gentle voice: don’t be afraid, I just want to place my jacket around your

shoulder, u must be cold.

Chi-zen then placed his jacket on her shoulders.

Fong Fong looked at him with surprise.

Chi-zen continued: if u want to go home, my driver will be waiting for you at the front

door. Don’t worry about your father, I will look after him.

He then walked back to the party room.

He left Fong Fong looking at his retreating back with astonishment. No man had ever

been as gentle with her as Chi-zen, most men wanted to take advantage of her, Fong

Fong left the party with his gentleman behaviour stamped on her memory.

Ziu Hua closed her eyes and slowly placed her head on Tin Yau's shoulders. Both of them were sitting under the moving tree ,under the night sky and were simply musing. Tin Yau looked down at Zui Hua's face on his shoulder and carefully placed his hands on her hair and caressed it. He then gently placedd his hand on Ziu Hua's head and moved it so her head was leaning on the tree instead. Before he let go of her, he kissed her gently on her forehead. He then quietly stood up and walked forward but he heard a voice behin him

Ziu Hua: You're leaving again?

Tin Yau stopped in his tracks but did not say anything. Ziu Hua slwoly stood up and walked to him knowing he would not answer.

Ziu Hua: Why do you have to leave me again?!Why?Haven't I showed you that I do care for you and don't want you to see you go and kill anyone again?!

Tin Yau turned around and placed both his hands on her shoulders.

Tin Yau: Don't worry, I will come back, I have some matters I need to take care of.

Ziu Hua: Matters? What kind of matters?Killing Chi-nam?!Please, I beg you Tin Yau, don't do it!I can't watch you do it.

Tin Yau turned around frustrated

TIn Yau: (sigh) You don't understand.

Ziu Hua: Understand?WHat is tehre to understand , all you want to do is kill Chi-nam!I beg you ,don't do it!

Tin Yau made no sound of answering her. Ziu Hua slowly dropped her knees to the ground and whispered looking to the floor

Ziu Hua: There's someone standing right in front of you who cares and will and always wish the best for you but for some reason you keep wanting to push me further and further away from you. But no matter how much I care for you, I cannot see you go kill someone, especially my friend Leung Chi-nam. I beg you Tin Yau, i don't care if you see me as just a total stranger, I'm begging you one last time ,don't do it.

TIn Yau knelt down on the ground to face her, shocked at what she was saying. He slowly wiped the tears off of her face with his fingers and led her up to her feet.

Tin Yau: *sigh* Give me 3 days. If I come back and meet you here on the beach again in 3 days, then that means I have chosen not to kill Leung Chi-nam, but if I don't, then I suppose I would be the person you never want to see again.

He gently kissed her on her forehead again and whispered

Tin Yau: If fate wishes to bring us back together then we shall see other once again.

He slowly release his grip on her hands and turned around and left.

*****

Chi-nam: A-dee, where are you?

He was pacing back and forthe and back and forth and back and forth on the sandy beach. He looked at his watch again and looked around to see if she had come, but instead he saw a dark figure walking towards him. He squinted his eyes to see better in the dark

Chi-nam: Tin Yau?

****

On the opposite side of Chi-nam, Tin Yau was looking intently at Chi-nam. Ziu Hua's words were running through his mind. HE began to get nervous and slowly but nervously reached for something inside his jacket.

*****

Chi-nam: It's really Tin Yau!

He ran down the beach toward TIn Yau surprising him.

Chi-nam reached TIn Yau and slapped him playfully on the shoulders, making Tin yau quickkly pull his hands out away from inside his jacket where his gun was.

Chi-nam: Tin Yau!Where were you!

Tin Yau: Long story, I'll tell you later. Are you still staying with ,umm,A-dee?

Chi-nam: Actually no, long story there too, well not really, actually I'm waiting to see her now.

Tin Yau: *smiled* oh, i see, I have some matters I need to take care of now,so I...

Chi-nam:Matters?

Tin Yau: I'll tell you later, I must go.

Chi-nam: Wait, I haven't even told you where I was staying at.

Tin Yau: OH yes, why don't we meet here again at 11:00 and you can take me there.

Chi-nam: Sure, oh yeah, I got a new job.

Tin Yau: REally? You?

Chi-nam: You seem quite surprised. Well I guess you would considering you haven't even talked to me since years ago when you thought my father killed your..

Tin Yau: Let's not mention those things now, what kind of job is it?

Chi-nam: Actually, it's an engineer job, and I have to go to the mainland some time soon.

Tin Yau: THe Mainland?and you're willing to go?

Chi-nam:Willing to? No ,not really, but this is the only job I could get and I want to stay dedicated to it.

Tin Yau:Wow, you seemed quite changed. How long will you be gone? What about A-dee and you, you two just got back together.

Chi-nam: Well....

A-dee: what about me?

Chi-nam turned around and saw A-dee smiling happily.

Tin Yau: I must go now, I won't bother you two, I will talk to you later Chi-nam, goodnight.

He quickly left and dissapeared in the darkness.

A-dee: *frowned* was that Fook Tin Yau?

Chi-nam: Yes, that was him

A-dee: Where's he going now?

Chi-nam: Look, he's not out looking for trouble he's changed . But anyways, that's not the reason why I asked you to come out here. Where have you been?

A-dee: Master Yang and Master Chan , I mean father and I went out to eat and talk so I guess time just flew by, sorry.

Chi-nam: No,that's ok, I understand you're just getting used to knowing who your real father is and all

A-dee: WHy'd you ask me to come out here?

Chi-nam: I have something to tell you.

A-dee: What is it, why are you so serious looking?

Chi-nam: I have to go to Mainland for awhile

A-dee: THe Mainland, why?!

Chi-nam: You know the new job I have now, well, as an engineer, i'm expected to go. And I have to go, if not, I'll let Wai-sun and especially let myself and you down for quitting my new job so soon.

A-dee: Wai-sun?he told you to go?

Chi-nam: Yes, he's m y new boss, so I have to obey orders.

A-dee: Maybe I can talk with Wai-sun and he can send other people to go instead

Chi-nam: But I don't want him to ,I've been think about this for awhile, and it's not a bad idea. I need the experience and the job, but the only thing is, I just don't want to leave you so soon.

A-dee looked to the ground not saying anything. Chi-nam put on a reassuring smile and put his hand on A-dee's chin and moved her face up to his.

Chi-nam: I'm not sure how long I'm going to be gone, but don't worry, I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Please be happy for me. It's something all new to me.

A-dee: I am happy for you, it's just we haven't even been together long and...

Chi-nam huddled her in his arms with A-dee's body leaning against him and her face laying on his chest.

Chi-nam: Don't worry, when I come back, there will be many more days we can be together, and I promised you I would buy a home live a good life with you, I promised. But I do want you to remember, that I will be thinking of you when I'm gone, because I do love you ,you know.

A-dee smiled and gave him a quick kiss on his forehead

A-dee: Of course I know and I'll be waiting for you.

Chi-nam nodded his head and A-dee gently laid her head back on Chi-nam's chest.

*********

Cho-fai: I'm fine you know.

Ho TIn didn't saying anything but steadily poured soup out onto a bowl.

Cho-fai: You don't have to be so worried over me

Ho Tin: WHo said I was worried.

HO TIn continued looking away from him as if ignoring him. She carefully carried the bowl of soup and carefully placed it in Cho-fai's hands.

Cho-fai:THank you

Ho Tin didn't say anything and carefully looked and stared as CHo-fai imbibed the soup. Ho Tin seemed to be ingnoring everything and looked deep into thought but she then suddenly screamed out

Ho Tin: It's him,why did he have to do this to you???!!!Why?Why?!

She began walking away from Cho-fai's bed and a rampage and threw the mug full of soup onto the ground and placed her hands on her head screaming and yellingand shaking her head.

Cho-fai quickly tried to get out of bed to help Ho Tin, but knew it was impossible. Instead, when he tried to stand up, his feet fell under him and he fell to the ground.Ho Tin seeing this quickly knelt beside him trying to hlep him.

Ho Tin: i'm so sorry Cho-fai!I'm so sorry!I'm so sorry, please forgive me!!

Cho-fai:Calm down Ho Tin!Sorry for what?!Ho TIn!Listen to me!

Suddenly the door was pushed open and Bo-Bo and Doctor Ming and other nurses quickly rushed into the room.

Bo-bo: What happened?

Doctor Ming: Quickly, bring the girl into her own roon and give her a sedative!

The nurses quickly followed the orders while Bo-bo and Doctor Ming tried to help Cho-fai get up.

Cho-fai: No!I have to see her!I have to know what she was talking about!

Chi-zen: Of course sir. I hope the problem in Shanghai will be resolved soon.

Leung Yong: Me too, apparently someone seems like they want to take over my buisness over there.

Chi-zen: Please be careful sir.

Leung Yong: *sigh* And please keep a look out for Chi-nam for me.

Chi-zen: Don't worry sir, I spotted him yesterday and he seemed perfectly fine. He seems to doing better than we thought.

********

Bo-bo carefully laid the covers and blankets on top of the sleeping Cho-fai.

Dr. Ming: Don't worry, he will turn out ok.

Bo-bo: I'm not sure him and Ho Tin are having such a good relationship as we thought. Everytime I see them together, one or the other gets hurt.

Dr. Ming: Ah yes, that maybe what it looks like on the outside, but you never know what they are feeling inside. Like how I never know what you feel like inside.

Bo-bo looked away from Dr. Ming and back at Cho-fai as if trying to ignore what he had said.

Dr. Ming: Sometimes it is better to say what you are feeling instead of cramming it all to yourself.

Bo-bo still tried to ingore him.

Dr. Ming: Bo-bo, I wish you would tell me what you are feeling inside now. I've seen you act so quiet nowadays and it's scaring me. Everytime I try to talk to you ,you avoid me. Is there something wrong with me? Am I scaring you?If I am, then just say so, I'll..

Bo-bo: No, it has nothing to do you. You are being a great friend toward me and I appreciate it, but somethings are left better to be unspoken of.

Dr. Ming: *sigh* I know it's no use trying to let you tell me what's wrong, but I don't want to push you. I know if it's about a man , maybe even about Yang Wai Sun, you wouldn't want to talk about it to me. You're right, something are better kept secret. It's late, I won't bother you anymore, goodnight Bo-bo.

He turned around to open the door but stopped when he heard Bo-bo's voice

Bo-bo: Wait!If your shift is over and you're not busy, would you mind walking home with me?

Dr. Ming's frown all along turned into a smile

Dr. Ming: Sure!

*******

A-dee: Chi-zen?

A-dee squinted her eyes and looked down the street to see if it really was him. A-dee walked up to him

A-dee: Wong Chi-zen?

Chi-zen: A-dee?Is that you?

A-dee: It's nice to see you again!

Chi-zen: Same here!

A-dee: How is Master Leung Yong doing?

Chi-zen: It is nice of you to ask. He is doing fine. But I know he is missing Chi-nam even if he doesn't show it on the outside.

A-dee: Oh. I know Chi-nam also misses his father now, but I know in the end, he will make him proud. Oh yeah,I wanted to tell you that Chi-nam is going to the Mainland tomorrow.

Chi-zen: The Mainland?

A-dee: Yes, he was offered a job as an engineer and is being sent there to do work.

Chi-zen: Master Chi-nam has a job now?

A-dee: It may be hard for you to beleive, but it isn't to me. To me, Chi-nam has the ability to really do what he wants, he tries, and sometimes he may fail, but he still tries and gets committed. I'm telling you this because I want Master Leung to know his son is doing well and has a job now and is working on his own.

Chi-zen: Thank you A-dee. Hopefully Master Leung will feel the same way about his son as you do. I have seen you two together, and he seems happy enough. But all things come to an end, so I ask that you and Chi-nam be careful.

A-dee: Be careful?

Chi-zen: Chi-nam may think that Fook Tin Yau has changed, but Chi-nam is still young and unexperienced, his decision of thinking that may be a harm to him.

A-dee: Although I don't beleive in my heart that Fook Tin Yau has changed, I do beleive in Chi-nam and I trust his decision and you're wrong, Chi-nam is not young and unexperienced, I beleive he is capable of making good decisions and is more omniscient than you think he is.

Chi-zen: I can tell now why Chi-nam likes you so much . But either way, be careful A-dee, not only of Fook Tin Yau but maybe even of Master Yang. It's a strange world out there and the world is moving faster than you think it is.

Fong Fong: What are you guys so caught up talking about?

Fong Fong walked up behind Chi-zen.

A-dee: Fong Fong! What are you doing here so late?

Fong Fong: Actually, I came here to meet with Chi-zen.

A-dee: Chi-zen?

Fong Fong : We planned on going to the church tonight.

A-dee: Both of you?Is that really necessary?

Chi-zen: I am quite fond of going to church too, ever since I was little, my mother used to take me there to pray.

A-dee: Well then ,I suppose I wo n't be bothering you two any longer, good bye.

Fong Fong: I'll talk to you later A-dee, good night.

Chi-zen: Goodnight A-dee, and remember what I have said.

*******

Chi-nam: This is the room I have been staying in.

Chi-nam had pulled up the thin piece of curtain that had hung as a little door to his small, musty room. Tin Yau brushed the dust out of his face with his hand.

Chi-nam: I know it doesn't look so great, but it was all i could get now. If you want to, when I go to the Mainland, you can stay here if you can bear with it.Oh yeah, I have something to give you, hold on.

Tin Yau seemed to be not listening to Chi-nam and slowly looked about the small and cramped room and saw something that caught his attention. He saw a silver necklace on a small writing table. He slowly picked it up and examineed it.

Chi-nam: Hey! (he quickly grabbed the necklace from Tin Yau's hands)

Tin Yau: Sorry, I didn't know I couldn't see it.

Chi-nam: No, I'm sorry. This is actually for A-dee. I bought it awhile back, but never gave it to her. I was hoping to give it to her before I leave tomorrow, so she can have something to remember me by while I am gone. *sigh*I just hope she's ok by herself.

Tin Yau put his hands on Chi-nam's shoulder.

Tin Yau: Don't worry, you will be back soon.

Chi-nam: Yeah, that is I hope so . Oh yeah, here (he handed Tin Yau a few bills of money) This money is for you, I thought you might need it now when I'm gone. It will be useful.

Tin Yau: But this is a lot of money, I can't...

Chi-nam: Don't worry, I trust you now, as a friend.

Tin Yau smiled and Chi-nam put his hand out and both men clasped their hands together in a firm shake.

*******

Dr. Ming: I beleive that Cheung Ho Tin is an intelligent young woman, but for some reason she has never told us why she is acting in such ,such a odd way all the time.

Bo-bo: But I have seen her interact with Cho-fai and they both seem, Ow!

Her shoulder suddenly bumped into someone

Bo-bo: Oh , I'm sorry, i didn't mean to, A-dee?Is that you?

A-dee: bo-bo?

Bo-bo: What are you doing out so late?

A-dee: I'm just walking home, and accidentaly bumped into you! And this other man must be, uhh, Dr. Ming is it?

Dr. Ming: I remember you A-dee,the last time I saw you was at the hospital with Cho-fai.

A-dee nodded her head and smiled.

A-dee: I was just talking to Fong Fong a minute ago.

Bo-bo: Really?

A-dee: yeah, she was going to church with Chi-zen.

Bo-bo: You mean Wong Chi-zen?

A-deeL of course him, who else would I be talking about.

Bo-bo: *frowned*Oh

A-dee: Is something wrong?

Bo-bo: Oh no, I just, oh I just feel tired now.

A-dee: Where are you two going now so late?

Bo-bo: Oh nowhere, Dr. Ming was just taking me home. How are you and Chi-nam?

A-dee: We are doing fine, except for the fact that he has to go the the Mainland tomorrow.

Bo-bo: The Mainland?

A-dee: I'll tell you later, I don't want to bother you now, goodnight Bo-bo!And goodnight Dr. Ming, nice seeing you again.

Dr. Ming waved goodbye but Bo-bo stood deep in thought. Fong Fong was with another man?She knew Fong FOng long enough to know that she barely ever had a man as a friend besides Wai-sun. What could this new man mean to Fong Fong?

Dr. Ming: Bo-bo, Bo-bo??Bo-bo?

Bo-bo snapped out of her trance.

Bo-bo: I'm sorry , I'm , I"m just tired.

Dr. Ming: It's ok, let's go.

***********

*Knock Knock*

*Knock Knock*

Wai-sun: Oh, I'm coming. Who would come here this late?

Wai-sun opened the door wide and to his surprise it was A-dee.

Wai-sun: A-dee??!

A-dee: Brother Wai-sun!

A-dee jumped onto Wai-sun and gave him a great comforting hug that lasted a few minutes. They finally released each other

Wai-sun: Why are you visiting me so late?

A-dee: No reason, I just wanted to see you. I havent visited you in awhile, and you never bothered to visit me.

Wai-sun: Oh well, it's been quite busy now at work for me and you know it. Here, come and sit.

A-dee sat down on a chair while Wai-sun poured out cup of teas for the both of them.

A-dee: I also came here for a specific reason.

Wai-sun: And what would that be/?

A-dee: I came here to ask you something about Chi-nam.

Wai-sun stopped short from drinking his tea and put the cup down.

Wai-sun: Is something wrong?

A-dee: You are like a brother to me and I want you to tell me the truth. Did you purposely send Chi-nam to the Mainland?

Wai-sun: What? Why would I purposely do it? You know we have been running short of workers and he was the one who agreed to going there, I never forced him to do it.

A-dee: I know, I know. I know you wouldn't have but, it's just I know you and him may not get along well together considering you think he isn't good for me, but, I had to ask.

Wai-sun: Don't worry I understand, but remember it's never to late to find someone else....

A-dee punched him on the shoulder.

Wai-sun: Ow!

A-dee: You know I never would.

Wai-sun: Just kidding , just kidding.

A-dee: Oh yeah, have you visited Bo-bo lately?

Wai-sun looked away after hearing Bo-bo's name.

Wai-sun: No, I never had the time to and doubt she would even want to see me.

A-dee: I just saw Bo-bo on the street walking with another man, I know it may not mean anything, but I just wanted to let you know, so...

Wai-sun: I know what you mean,a nd I know what to do.

FOng FOng blushed. The old woman handed Fong Fong the hairpins and the both were about to leave when Wai-sun spotted something at the woman's cart. He took a closer look at the hair pin with a dove on it and picked it up to look at it closer.

Old Woman: you're a very smart young man, this hairpin is one of the most beautiful ones at my shop, you picked a very good one!

Wai-sun: Don't worry, it's not for you.

The old woman handed Wai-sun back his change and the hairpin.

Fong Fong: Oh. If it is for A-dee, I beleive she'll really like it.

Chi-zen: Master Leung, the train to Shanghai is about to leave.

Leung Yong: Ah yes. When did you say Chi-nam was leaving to Mainland?

Chi-zen: This morning sir.

Leung Yong: Ah yes.

Leung Yong kept sitting for a few minutes as if thinking of something.

Chi-zen: Uh, sir, it's time to go.

Leung Yong: Oh yes, let's go.

Chi-zen: Don't worry sir, everything will be fine here in Hong Kong while you are gone and..

Leung Yong: Chi-nam??

Chi-zen: (puzzled look)Excuse me sir?

Leung Yong: Chi-nam , I see him, over there.

Chi-zen tried to look out to where he was pointing but couldn't see exactly where he was pointing at the in the big crowd.

Chi-zen: I"m sorry sir, but I don't think that's Chi-nam.

Leung Yong: Ah yes, maybe I was wrong. I'm getting old and my eyesight is getting worse. Besides, what are the chances of me seeing him here?

Chi-zen: Don't worry so much sir. Here, it's your turn to go in.

Leung Yong nodded and stepped onto the train.

A-dee: What are you looking at Chi-nam?

CHi-nam: I swear I saw my father just right there!

A-dee looked out and around but got a puzzled look on her face.

A-dee: I don't see him, are you sure it wasn't someone else?

CHi-nam: But, but, nevermind, it probably wasn't him, anyways, why would I see him here?

A-dee: Here, we better line up or you'll be late to get on your train.

Chi-nam nodded his head.

Chi-nam: Wait, before we do, I have something to give you.

He took out something from his pocket and unraveled the necklace.

Chi-nam: It's for you.

A-dee: For me?

Chi-nam: I know all along I never gave you much. I bought this along time ago, but I just never had the chance to give it to you. I hope you will wear it while I'm gone as to remember me by, I know it's not much, but...

A-dee: I never even wanted anything from you before and I'm not expecting to get anything from you now either. Thank you for the necklace. I hope that on the day I die, I will still be wearing it.

Chi-nam: *smiled* Here let me put it on you.

*********

A man was sitting alone on a bench wearing a black hat and a long, stiff black jacket. He watched as the bustling crowd walked in front of him and even took a special notice as he watched

young man gently put a necklace on a young lady not far from him. The man finally stood up from watching his target and walked slowly and carefully toward the young couple. He was getting closer and closer to the young man and woman and as he did, he slowly pulled out a gun from inside his jacket. No one noticed the man slowly pulling the trigger to the gun as the busy crowd just kept walking and talking by him while the man was only a few feet from them.

When the man was only a few feet from the young man, he held out the gun, and he kept on walking until he was but a few inches from him and he slowly pointed it at the young man but suddenly changed direction of the gun and shot the gun randomly at a old man next by him. Shrieks and screams went out all over the place in the train staton except from the man with the gun as he simply walked away from the crowd with no one noticing him as the only one not stopping and not paying attention the dying man. The man slowly walked into a corner and took off his hat and threw it to the ground. He slammed his fist onto the wall angrily

Tin Yau: Leung Chi-nam!I may not have had the strength to kill you today, but tomorrow, you shall see if I am truly your real friend!

A-dee took one thing out from her pocket, it was a scarf, she put it around his neck "I did it for you Chi-nam, it was my first time doing that, it's probably cold in the mainland and I think it will be useful for you." Chi-nam gently touched the scarf "I will use it A-dee and I will write to you every week". Chi-nam could not turn his gaze away from A-dee, he needed to stamp every details of her in his heart. So did A-dee, she could not let go off his hands, Chi-nam caressed her hair and held A-dee into his arms. "Take care A-dee, I will come back". He whispered. A-dee tighten her arms around his body. Suddenly the bell was rung and it was the time the train would leave.

She saw him waving her a good-bye from the train's window until the train ran far away. A-dee quickly wiped her tears, she did not notice that from the opposite corner, there was a young, pretty woman staring at her and Chi-nam.

She was Zia Hua, it was the third day that Tin Yua promised her that he would come to her if he could give up the revenge but when she came to the beach she only found the letter on the sand "Don't wait for me". Her heart was broken, however she knew herself that she could not forget her love for him and no matter what he said she would wait for him.

She came to the station because she knew that Tin Yua might come, it was her little hope, with half disappointing and relieve he did not appear. At the hospital Dr. Ming talked to Bo Bo while they were walking at the hall, Bo Bo tried to avoid him but Ming had always brought her to the interesting topic.

Dr. Ming : He is getting much better now. It was the miracle that he could survive from the poisoning incident. Ming said while he looked at her carefully, he knew that she tried not to make eye contact with him.

Bo-Bo : I always wonder who did it to Cho-fai, he is very good guy and barely has an enemy. And about Ho-Tin" then she paused.

Dr. Ming : Do you also think that Ho Tin know the person who did it to Chi-fai.?

"I am not very sure, but she looked strange and she kept repeating she knew who did it all the time." Bo-Bo answered. Suddenly the wind blew strongly, the chart that Doctor Ming held had fallen down on the ground. Both of Ming and Bo-Bo quickly picked it up but their hands touched each other by accident. Ming gazed Bo-Bo as she turned away, her face turned pink with embarrassment since it reminded her the dream of her and Ming.

"I think you both have a good time" Bo Bo quickly looked up and she found Wai Sun stayed in front of her. As usual he was in white shirt and neat jacket, he still looked very smart. "I should leave now, I don't want to interrupt your good time." He said with mockery smile.

Without a second thought, Bo Bo gave all the papers to Dr. Ming and ran followed Wai-sun, left Ming with a lot of questions in his mind.

"What was wrong with you? she asked. "Why are you so rude? Wai-sun turned to her "I just said for what I have seen." his voice was very cold and that made Bo Bo got more angry. "What did you see? I helped Ming to collect the papers, just the person who has bad things in mind could do such things" Pretended as an innocent from her accusation he pointed to himself "Me? a bad person. What are talking about?"

Bo Bo glared to him "I know your intention Wai-sun, you send Chi-nam to the mainland to take him away from A-dee. You will never know how it hurts to them, and today what you did to me was really bad. You disappointed me." She raised her voice.

"Well" Wai-sun said calmly "I did not send Chi-nam for my own good, that project needed people and Chi-nam agreed with that. He then jeered at her "For you and that Doctor, I have no idea." Bo Bo's face turned red with anger, she needed to scream and cry in the same time. "Get out from my face Wai-sun. We have nothing to talk anymore" "As your command" Wai-sun bowed his head for insulting and walked to Cho-fai's room.

After he left, Bo Bo's teas start dropping, the tears with anger and sad. She did not know that Wai-sun also fell the same, he did not walk to see Cho-fai but chose to hide himself at the corner. He took out one box, the box which the beautiful pin was in. When he bought this pin he had the imagination that it would look very pretty when Bo-Bo used it. But the scenes between Dr. Ming and Bo Bo made him jealous and he was rude to her.

Finally he admitted that Bo Bo was so special for him, apart from A-dee, Bo Bo was the only girl that he wanted to come close and never get bore to talk with like many others. But now, the wall between he and Bo Bo was thickening, Wai-sun took a big sigh and put the box back to the pocket. One day, he thought he would able to give it to her with the apologize.

Many beautiful kites were flying up to the sky, the cheerful voice from many groups of children came from everywhere, it was an amusement place, all children had their good time playing kites and kicking the ball.

"Sister A-dee, come join us" one little boy tugged her sleeve, A-dee gave him a thinly smile "No, I don't want to play today, you go and have fun.

The little boy looked at her in wonderment, but he was too young to understand. "I will go now, come to join us if you want. A-dee was sitting still, the day passed slowly for her since Chi-nam had gone.

She then stood up, stretched her body and took a deep breath "I cannot be like this, I have many things to do. Come to visit Cho-fai would be a good idea."

At the hospital

Cho-fai and Ho Tin were sitting at the hospital garden again, the scenes that Cho-fai was collapsed still in her mind, Cho-fai tried very hard to courage her going out. She finally came out with him but nervously looked at Cho-fai and he always gave her a warm and tender smile until Ho Tin fell relaxing enough to laugh when he told her a joke.

"Cho-fai, Ho Tin, good morning" Both of them saw A-dee smiled brilliantly to them. "Good morning to you" Ho Tin said with a big smile, so did Cho-fai, he wheeled the chair and came to her.

A-dee sat down on the ground "What are you talking about? I am glad to see you like this laughing and talking." Cho-fai and Ho Tin exchanged a smile to each other "Nothing interesting, Cho-fai told very funny story and make me laugh" Ho tin replied.

"I am glad you feel better." A-dee paused, she thought of Chi-nam again, he always made her laugh.

Cho-fai knew in sudden that A-dee was not very happy, "A-dee" with concerned voice he said "What happen A-dee, you look different today" He came more close to her. "I heard from Bo-Bo that Chi-nam goes to work in mainland". A-dee nodded. "and you miss him" she nodded again. Cho-fai held her hands, his heart was still hurt, A-dee did not belong to him, all of these years she cared for him like brother. However, after he passed the experience of "living" and "dying" he learnt the treasure of life. Although his physical was still week but he got stronger inside. He would keep A-dee in the special place in his heart and now was the time for him to be a good brother.

"He will come back A-dee, don't worry. He tried to comfort her. "Oh, look at you, you look like 30 years old lady. Come on! give me a smile A-dee, the sad face is not suit you. Smile and sweetly smile" he teased her until she laughed and hit him gently at his arm.

Ho Tin turned away from that scenes, she knew that A-dee always in Cho-fai's heart and nobody could replace her…however, she had no more envious for A-dee. "Look" Ho Tin pointed her fingers "very beautiful butterflies are over there" she ran and tried to catch them. A-dee helped Cho-fai wheel the chair to help Ho-tin, the pleasant laughing were all around the garden.

In the patient's room, the room was crowded, Bo-Bo, Doctor Ming and other nurses were very busy to take care all of them. This ward was prepared to the patients who had no money, many times that there had not enough staffs and medical supplies to help the patients. Both of Ming and Bo-Bo spun around helping the patient until lunch time.

"What a day" Ming said while he sat on the chair. Bo-Bo gave him a cup of tea "Have some tea". "Thanks" Ming looked at her carefully, what was happened yesterday still in his mind and he had a lot of questions to ask her, yet he knew that he could not ask her.

Bo-Bo would keep everything in mind rather than let anyone knew she was depress. It was obvious that she fell for that guy more than friend.

Broken off the silence in this room "I think we should write the report to the director about this special ward, so we will have enough people and medical supplies but I need someone to help me" Ming gave his opinion, he gazed on Bo-Bo, expecting for her answer.

"Good idea, we do need more people, I will help you" she said "I will go to see Cho-fai". She understood Ming's purpose, he was a good guy but Bo-Bo was not ready to let someone come close to her. Wai-sun made her a big disappointment and she did not want it happen again. She had non-stop working today, did not let herself have free time thinking of him.

"Bo-Bo, Bo-Bo" someone called out her name "Wait for me" she stopped and saw A-dee was running to her "You walked so fast." She said and wiped the sweat from her face.

"Sorry, A-dee. I am thinking something so I don't hear you" answered with smiled "Thinking of what, Brother Wai-sun?' A-dee asked back but Bo-Bo frowned over that name "No" she quickly answered "I am thinking about something that will be useful for the patients"

"Oh, I am sorry Bo-Bo" A-dee noticed that Bo-Bo was getting upset. "I am sorry too A-dee, I am very tired today" she excused and changed the subject "Do you hear anything from Chi-nam?" A-dee shook her head "Nothing, it was 5 days now and I am waiting for his letter."

During talking with Bo-Bo, A-dee noticed that a lot of people make a queue outside the ward. "What are these people doling here?" she wondered. "They come here to see doctor, here's we have the ward for the poor patients. But most of the time we lack of people and medical supplies." she explained with a big sigh "Ming and me is going to write the report and hope we will get more budget." she added

A-dee looked around, her heart was fill with sympathy for them. "If you don't mind, I volunteer myself to help you" Bo-Bo's eyes grew with surprise "That would be great A-dee, thank you. But it's very hard and tired job." Bo-Bo said softly. "You can teach me and I want to do something that will be useful." A-dee then concluded "Let's start today."

******

Chi-nam finished his letter and it would send to A-dee tomorrow, as he promised. It was his first week in mainland and he missed her every single day. He opened the door, the cold wind blew into his small house.

Everything was new to him, to learn about job and had a responsibility. Liked he just grew up from a little boy to a mature person. He got on quite well with the workers. The leader was a local man, he was around his father age but totally different than his father. He taught Chi-nam many things and that made Chi-nam gave him a respectful.

The voice from the workers were getting louder outside, the staffs held a party tonight, the job had done smoothly so far. As a chief, Chi-nam was proud of himself. If A-dee was here, he would loved to share with her. He walked with a fast pace to join them, he did not notice that there was one man staring at him, his life was now again in danger.

Tin Yua pointed the gun to his number one enemy, his fingers was in trigger, ready to fire. His hands were trembling when he thought about his past life, it was clear like yesterday. Chi-nam and him grew up together, shared all good and bad times. Until this day Chi-nam still believed that he was his best friend. The thin smile appeared on his lips and the gun was pointed down to the ground.

Then the flashback of the blood soaking night came to his mind, it was reprinting over and over in his dream throughout these years, his life had changed and it would never be the same. The gun had raised up again and aimed to the target!

"Boom! Boom!" after the gun had fired, the smoke was all around, covered everything, only the red blood soaking onto the ground….

"It is very humiliated A-dee" her face was sad when she told the story to A-dee and Chi-zen. Chi-zen took a big deep breath as he tried to calm himself from anger while A-dee fell sorry for Fong Fong.

"I don't believe it. But Fong Fong, listen to me, you cannot stay here for long. If you don't mind, I want you to live with me." A-dee suggested. Chi-zen nodded his head as he agreed when Fong Fong turned to him. "I will come with you both, and don't be too worried Fong Fong, you always have friends when you need help." He added.

He took out the knife and walked quietly, he approached one guy and locked his neck until he fell down. One man ran to him but it was too late, he threw the knife and it hit at the chest. Then he pulled the two dead bodies to the other side and sneaked into the warehouse.

It was dark inside the warehouse, Tin Yua swept his eyes around carefully and took out his gun. Suddenly the light had turned on! Brother Eleventh sat on the chair comfortably, surrounded with his men “Welcome, Fook Tin Yua” Tin Yua was stunned by the picture in front of him, one man held Zia Hua as a hostage and put the knife at her neck. She was crying when she saw him and shook her head as she did not want him be here. Tin Yua clenched his fist “What do you want?” Brother Eleventh curved his lips to a wicked smile “Well, well, you know what I need Tin Yua. You never believed me, Leung Chi-nam still alive and you killed my man.” He slowly stood up “I have to ask you what do you want?” Tin Yua swallowed hard, he realised that Zia Hua’s life was in great danger. “I killed your man because I was about to shot Chi-nam but he came in the way.” Tin Yua made up the story, tried to buy a time while he observed the way to escape.

“It’s not what I want to hear” said with harsh voice. “Is she your woman?.” he then laughed and glanced to Zia Hua “Pretty woman, you have a good taste.” Tin Yua fixed his eyes at him “That’s all I can say, Brother Eleventh, you know I want to kill Chi-nam all the time. Send her back to me and I will do what you want.”

Then someone turned off the light and everything was in the dark!

Tin Yua jumped to the man who held Zia Hua and knocked him down, he grabbed hold of her hands and started to run while the gun started firing “Boom! Boom! Boom!." The bullet flies, Tin Yua shot back and took Zia Hua ran out from the warehouse.

“Ouch!” Tin Yua cried out as he got shot at his leg, he fell down on the ground. Zia Hua screamed in panic “Tin Yua” “Get away, Zia Hua, run.” He pushed her away, Zia shook her head “No, I will not leave you.” “You both die together” Brother Eleventh said cruelly, he took off his mask. The face behind the mask was Kwok Ka Lung!

“You can die in peace now.” Kwok said with cold-blooded voice, he walked toward to Tin Yua and Zia Hua who tried to move back.

Suddenly, one car ran in the middle then stopped in front of Tin Yua “Get in” the driver who covered his face with the white mask shouted while he fired the gun killing many men. Tin Yua and Zia Hua quickly jumped in the car, the car ran out very fast and disappeared in the darkness.

*****

“Get down” he ordered and stopped the car, Tin Yua and Zia Hua met their eyes in wonder. “Who are you?” Tin Yua asked “We need to change the car, follow me” that man leaded them to the small road. Tin Yua held his one arm around Zia Hua’s shoulders, his blood started bleeding again “Who are you? Why did you help us?” Tin Yua repeated his question, he did not move until that man turned back to him. He slowly took off the mask, he was Lai Ming Choi! “No need to ask, just follow me.” Tin Yua and Zia Hua met their eyes again, Tin Yua and Zia Hua walked followed him. He did not know who this man was but whoever he was, he and Zia Hua was saved.

******

“Get Fook Tin Yua, I need him alive.” Kwok Ka Lung or Brother Eleventh commanded furiously, his eyes shown like a fire “Send our man to find our who helped them. Whoever obstructs me, must pay me with the life”.

Ho Tin was his most beloved daughter, she used to be pretty and vibrant girl, but now, the painful from the past swamped to his body. People believed that she was insane, that evil man stole her soul. “Forgive me, Ho Tin.” he whispered near to her ears “I am such a bad father, I should not trust that evil. I should not let him come close to you.” He held his daughter’s hand and groaned “I will make up for you Ho Tin, the guy who harmed you must pay it. I swear. We will live together again, my dear.” He stroked her hair again, and left.

Yang Wai-leung was standing outside the hospital, he had followed Lai and witnessed everything that happened tonight. A wicked smile curved on his lips, who could imagine that the most powerful tycoon in Hong Kong was also the most powerful underworld Mafia – Brother Eleventh. Too bad Fook Tin Yua was still alive, that person should die with his family. Suddenly intrigued, this was a golden opportunity, his chance was coming. He would not miss it again, everything would do – clean and clear.

*********

Chi-nam laid on his bed in the small room, it was almost 2 months since he worked in mainland. He tossed on the bed, attempting to sleep but then A-dee came in his mind, he missed her everyday and night, he send her several letters but he had never received the answer. He just send one more letter to her and hope he would get the answer. Chi-nam walked outside, everything was the same, it was cold, dark and quiet night.

“Hey, come here. Have some drink with me.” Chi-nam turned to that voice, one of the chief was sipping the local liquor next to the fire. He walked toward and sat down next to him, the chief gave him that drink “It is late night now. Why don’t you sleep?”

Chi-nam said “I try but I cannot sleep.” The old man asked jokingly “Do you miss anyone at home?” Chi-nam was in silent and sipping the liquor. The old man squinted his eyes, young, rich, arrogant guy. Chi-nam had changed. Unlike his first started, he became more patient and mature. The workers here were under estimated him, due to the tough condition in Mainland, everyone thought that he could not work here longer than 1 week. But Chi-nam tried very hard, he was fast learner, finally he proved himself and everyone looked at him in a new perspective.

Every Wednesday, the delivery stuffs would arrive from the head office, most of the workers would received letters from their family. Chi-nam was counting the day to receiving his letter, with disappointment he did not receive anything.

“She is very nice girl.” Suddenly he said, gazed on the stars which were shining on the dark blue sky “You must see her, she is very lovely and lively. She is the most wonderful person in my life.” He put a smile on his face when he thought of her. The old man asked carefully “Boy, don’t you think she changes her mind?” “No” replied immediately “She loves me and I trust her.” The old man stopped asking, the answer was very clear, he raised the glass “Cheers.”

********

Meanwhile in Hong Kong, the letters that Chi-nam sent to A-dee were with Wai-sun. These letters arrived many weeks ago, Wai-sun knew that A-dee was waiting but he kept telling himself that he did the best thing for her.

Leung Chi-nam was a playboy, his father once said, one day he would dump A-dee. His beloved sister was too naïve to prevent her heart not to fall in love with such a playboy. What would happen to her made him scare to death. He could not let it happen, he must protect her from any harmful. But then, the other side of his conscience was telling him that he was wrong. A-dee and Chi-nam were deeply in love and nothing was wrong about their love.

Wai-sun was in confusion, he did not know what he did was right or wrong. He then grabbed his jacket and left the house.

Found himself standing in front of Cho-fai’s room in the hospital. With hesitation, he decided to open the door and gave the excuse to the nurse for visiting the patient in the late night. The nurse smiled to him as she remembered he was Bo-bo’s friend “I will leave you with him but only for half and hour. The patient needs to take a full rest.” She informed “Thank you” said Wai-sun.

Cho-fai was still awake “Wai-sun” he greeted, Wai-sun put the pillow behind his back and helped him sit comfortably. “Why did you come to visit me so late?” Cho-fai wondered “Nothing” Wia-sun quickly answered, Cho-fai stared at him. He was very sure that Wai-sun was hiding something from him, something that was hard to speak.

"I'm sure you have, if not why you come to visit me this late." Cho-fai said "Don't tell me that you miss me until you cannot wait to see me tomorrow" Wa-sun fell uncomfortably "About, A-dee and Leung Chi-nam" finally he spoke up "I don't know what to say."

"Do you still love her?" suddenly asked, fixed his eyes on Cho-fai "I do, I always do." Cho-fai confessed, his heart was sinking when he continued "She is not belonged to me, I cannot make her happy. She deserves better man who can give her the happiness." Wai-sun gazed on his friend, Cho-fai was born with golden heart. He always thought about other people before himself.

Then the words from Bo-Bo “You disappointment me” and “You are hurting A-dee” echoed in his head

At the hospital hall, Wai-sun was walking alone, suddenly the feeling of loneliness came to his heart, he tugged his jacket tightly when the cold wind blew. His feet lead him to the unit that Bo-Bo was working at . From the small window, he could see she was busy taking care of the patients, she looked tired but the gentle smile was always on her face. Her kindness had touched his heart. Wai-sun was overwhelmed with his feeling toward her, he needed to hold her in his arms and wanted to beg for her forgiveness as he was a fool. He would correct his mistake and hope for the chance that she would forgive him.

Fong Fong was slowly combing her hair in front of the mirror, she wanted to get ready before Chi-zen came to pick her up. Her days were now very peaceful and she was very happy as she was surrounded with people who loved her and cared about her. A-dee was her best friend and Master Chan looked after her as if she was his daughter, moreover she had Chi-zen. The sweet smile spread on her beautiful face when she thought of him, since she moved to stay with A-dee, he always came to visit her. They spent time together and she got to know him slowly. The feeling of unsecurity had gone away when Chi-zen stayed besides her.

There was a knock on the door, Fong Fong opened the door, her eyes grew with surprise when she saw the man who was standing in front of her.

"Wai-sun" she called out.

Wai-sun gave her a tender smile "Good morning, Fong Fong". He stepped into the room, "Good morning, Wai-sun. A-dee is in the kitchen." She said, Wai-sun nodded "I haven't seen you for a long time. How are you?" he continued the conversation "A-dee told me that you are a teacher now." Fong Fong answered shyly "Only kindergarten teacher, it's not a big job but I love the job." She handed him a cup of tea "Chi-zen introduced the job for me" she added. Her face turned little pink when she said the name Chi-zen, she then realized that her heart was not fluttering like it used to when she met Wai-sun.

A-dee ran into the room when she saw Wai-sun, she squeezed his hands "How are you? Why do you come here so early? How is Master?" Wai-sun raised his hands "I am fine A-dee and I have something very important to tell you." Fong Fong stood up "A-dee, I will wait for Chi-zen at the visiting room, see you later, Wai-sun"

After Fong Fong left, A-dee looked up at him, she was surprise to see him. She then noticed that he had black lines under his eyes, showing that he did not get enough sleep. With worry she placed her hands on his forehead "What's wrong Wai-sun?" Wai-sun remained quiet, he stared at her for a moment. With a big deep breath, he pulled something from his jacket. They were letters from Chi-nam.

A-dee looked at the letters, her eyes puzzled with many questions when she looked at him "I am sorry A-dee. I should not have hid them. I know that you are waiting for these letters." He held her shoulders "Please forgive me. I don't want him to hurt you, I used to think that he was just playing games with you but, I am wrong." Wai-sun confessed. "As I am your brother, I cannot see you get hurt or let anyone else hurt you for that matter. You deserve the best, but……" his face was down right, with sadness. "I am wrong. He loves you and you love him."

A-dee grabbed the letters, yes, Wai-sun was wrong for doing so, but when she saw the sadness in his eyes, she understood. Wai-sun only wanted to protect her from any harm, since she was the little child, he always thought about her happiness in the first thing. And he was her only brother, she cried inside "Chi-nam will never betray me, he loves me." she told him then wrapped her hands around his body "Just don't do it again." Wai-sun took a big sigh with relief. His heart was fulfilled with happiness "Thank you A-dee." "Let's go and get breakfast" she smiled into his eyes, they both exchanged a smile and left the room.

The sun was raising slowly, Tin Yua had been awake for a long time. Zia Hua was sleeping beside him peacefully, she put her head on his shoulder and put her arms around his waist. This was the second day since he escaped from Brother Eleventh, he still did not know much about the man who helped him except for his name. Everything was mysterious, Lai Ming Choi took him to the house located near the harbor, it was a rural area and not too many people lived there. He had almost recovered from his injury. Zia Hau lost her tears when she saw his blood.

He turned to Zia Hua, she looked vulnerable. Yet, her beauty remained like the first time he met her. Zia Hua came from a rich family and he did not want her to risk her life for him. He did not have a family, noone cared for him but Zia Hua did. He did not know how it would feel when he had someone caring for him.. If something bad would happen to her… no, he must protect her, he reached out his hands and touched her cheek gently. "I will protect you, Zia Hau, I will not let anyone to hurt you." he whispered and kissed her softly at her lips and left silently.

Lai Ming Choi was drinking quietly in the room, he looked at his family picture – Ho Tin, Lai Khang and him, remembering the happier time when all of them lived together, Lai drank again, his son Lai Khang would now arrive from Guangtong.

Flashback

"Father, let me go. Father, please" Lai Khang screamed to his father, his arms were chained. His need for drug was killing him, he looked like an injured animal, dirty and disgusting. "Ah Khang, you will be OK." Lai held his son's shoulder "It will be over soon."

Other flashback

"Father, come with me." Lai Khang pursued his father to leave Hong Kong with him "Please.." Lai Ming Choi handed a envelope to his son. "Here is the money, use this money carefully. I have to stay here, I will do a few things and will come to see you in a month", Lai said, he still remained calm. "Look after yourself, ah-Khang. Your auntie will look after you for me." He stopped for a second and continued "Don't forget Ho Tin, she is your real sister." Lai Khang said nothing but nodded his head, he looked at his father in which he realized that he loved him very much. 'One more thing, if something happens to me, don't take revenge." Ah-Khang was shocked by his word "What? Father." He choked "I need you to stay in a normal life, far away from blood. Promise me, Ah-Khang, leave everything behind and start your new life."

End of flashback

Lai's shoulders bend down in despair, his eyes were red with his feeling inside.

Tin-Yua called out "Mr. Lai"

Lai: You are probably wondering why I chose to save your life and brought you here instaed of killing you. *he hesistated*Simple reason, I want you to know the real truth. Leung Yong didn't kill your family.

Tin-Yau: *he quickly stood up*That's a lie! That is all a lie!

Lai: You must calm down young man. Sit down. I will explain to you what

Suddenly, before Lai ming Choi could finish his sentence, he could see a fire suddenly starting on top of the roof. Suddenly another spot of fire was caught on his roof. Tin Yau and Lai Ming Choi quickly looked out the window, they could see about 5 men shooting arrows of fire at their house. Tin Yau quickly looked to see the leader of the pack and saw him standing behind the men. He squinted his eyes to see better

Tin Yau: (he whispered)It can't be. Kwok Ka Lung's found us.

Lai: Tin Yau, get Zia-Hua and you two get out of here now!

Tin Yau: But you're going to die-

Lai: Listen to me, if you want Zia-Hua to live, then get her out of here at once!but do remember what I have told you, Leung Yong is a good man, he did not kill your family.
