Nurses' Ball!

Well, it's that time of year again. Both the charitable and the self-preserving of Port Charles will come together under one roof, for one cause -- the Nurses' Ball!

Each year, Lucy Coe outdoes herself to recruit, train, entertain, and get the wealthy to empty their pocket books (or at least lighten them a little.) We've seen PC'ers do themselves up in everything from "Wizzard of Oz" costumes, to designer formal wear, to "The Names Project: AIDS Memorial Quilt".

Last year, we watched our favorite characters have a good time and give us one as well. We laughed at Lucy and Katherine's not-so-friendly rivalry. We tapped our feet along with the musical numbers. And we cried, along with Robin, as she gave her heart-wrenching speach.

And do you know what else? Thousands of people called to get AIDS and HIV testing information because of that episode! This year, the Nurses' Ball, along with ABC's "Day of Compassion" line-up, will reach thousands more.

This year our Miss Lucy has her work cut out for her! She will no doubt give us an event to remember. But this year, she has other things to worry about. Those of you who have been keeping up with Lucy know she is dealing with the kidnapping of her surrogate child, Serena. She is the one the kidnappers have chosen to deal with. They want her to do the drop off on the night of the Ball and, she can't tell Doc a thing! As, if that isn't enough, Lucy has her pregnancy to think of! We all know she has a history of miscariages, what kind of stress to be under! Good luck, Lucy. If anyone can pull this off, Lucy can!
