FRIDAY OCTOBER 30, 1998

MADAME CARMEN'S SHOP: An excited Carmen welcomed her daughter home, but Maria was apprehensive. Maria spotted her self-portrait. She remarked that the fact that she painted her self-portrait faceless is ironic because the face of that painting is as blank as her memory is. Maria lost her temper at her family while they were trying to prompt her memories. She could tell how much they wanted her to be the person she used to be, but said she needed just a little space. They left her alone.

THE BEACH: Meg bolted after she had a flashback of hearing Maria say that she loved Ben.

BEN'S HOUSE: Ben caught up to Meg, and she told him that she had overheard Maria saying that she loved him. He responded that Maria had just had a flash of memory, and that she wasn't saying that she loved him at the time. Meg asked Ben what he would have done if Maria did love him now. He replied that he chose Meg and that he's not going to change his mind. Meg told Ben that the only way they could be free of Maria would be if they could help her remember. Ben decided that he wants to give Maria's personal effects to her, in hopes that they could trigger her memories. When Ben brought the box downstairs, Meg offered to take it to Maria.

BEN'S HOUSE/MADAME CARMEN'S SHOP: Ben and Maria looked at a picture of Maria in her wedding dress.

MADAME CARMEN'S SHOP: Maria found her wedding dress.

SEA BREEZE MOTEL: Assuming that Gregory was setting him up, Cole told Francesca that he planned to steal the necklace that night and that in order to protect her, he was going to do it by himself. After he left, Francesca decided to sneak into the party in a nun's costume.

RICHARDS HOUSE: While Annie was admiring herself wearing the necklace, it turned into a snake. She unwrapped the snake and threw it onto the floor, where it turned back into the necklace again. Caitlin walked in on Annie when she was reflecting on Olivia's plan. Annie taunted Caitlin that Cole was going to steal the necklace, and the two bickered.

Caitlin told Cole that she and Annie had been arguing while she was putting the necklace in the safe. When Caitlin left to change, Cole looked in the safe, but the necklace wasn't there. Caitlin saw Cole replace the statue in front of the safe. He told her that he was just examining the safe, and that it was airtight. Caitlin revealed that she had taken the necklace from the safe to wear to the party.

GREGORY'S OFFICE: Bernie told Gregory that in the wrong hands, the rubies could be very dangerous. He then offered to buy the necklace from Gregory, and warned him that if he won't sell it, he would live to regret it. When Gregory asked why he was so desperate, Bernie said that he needed the rubies to replace some valuable gems that he recently lost, and that Annie would be in danger if she kept the necklace.

Annie arrived to see Gregory. At first, it appeared that his office was abandoned, but then she saw that his light was on. While she was walking through the darkened outer office, Bernie cornered her and demanded the necklace. In her escape from him, she broke the cross that Bernie was clinging to.

A frantic Annie told Gregory that she was accosted by a walking dead man who demanded her necklace. Gregory realized that she was talking about Bernie. She was surprised that he knew who she was talking about and said that there was seriously wrong with him, and that looking at him was like looking at evil.

THE DEEP: Amy told the others that her father hadn't been himself for a long time, and that she'd rather fail her class than see him again. Sean was concerned about Amy, but Leo warned him not to trust her.

BERNIE'S HOUSE: When they commented on how dark the house was, Amy replied that her father has been keeping things dark lately. She went into his office to get her paper and shrieked when she opened the door. The others came to her aid and found that the room was filled with lit candles. Amy was relieved that at least there was no chanting. Brad found a stereo and played the recording of the chanting. Brad said that bad things always happen in threes -- first there was the earthquake, then there was the tidal wave, and what will be next? Just as Amy was ready to leave, Bernie returned home. They heard him scream.
