Season Five, Episode Eleven - Killswitch

5x11 - Killswitch

"Twilight Time" . . . "Mulder, that's evidence," Scully cried in alarm as Mulder flipped open Donald Gelman's laptop. Without halting his snooping, he responded softly, the hint of a smile in his voice.

     "Gee, I hope so."

Fiddling around with some buttons, out popped a CD. Mulder held it up as Scully looked about, glancing out the back windshield before settling into her seat, still slightly apprehensive. Mulder slipped the CD into the car's CD player.

Almost immediately, a gentle, old fashioned melody filled the air and a flashing light beamed upon the couple sitting still in bemusement as:

filled the car. Mulder's eyes widened in amusement before he sent a slight smile Scully's way, his eyebrows raised.

His smile widened a bit as Scully glanced about the car, perhaps looking for an explanation. As he caught the question on her face, his smile broke into a full grin, the golden light intermittently bathing his profile.

"Hey" . . . "Why don't you bite me!" snapped Esther peevishly. Before Scully could respond, Mulder interjected with a sharp "hey!" obviously in a defend-my woman mode.

Scully spared not even a glance of censure, so apparently she didn't mind.

"The Bass Player" . . . "A primoridal slime," explained 'Invisigoth,' she paused a moment, glancing out the window, "except this time it's artifical slime . . . artifical life."

Mulder pursed his lips together as if testing her words. He glanced over at Scully, gauging her reaction as Esther continued.

"One man alone achieving the equivalent of Copernicus, Magellan and Darwin," she finished, glowing admiration for the one man -- Donald Gelman -- evident in her voice.

Admiration that Scully seemed to not have time for, "and what was your role in all of this?" she questioned sarcastically. "We're you the bass player?"

Mulder glanced over at the driving Scully, the hint of just the slightest turn on in his eyes as Scully unsheathed her claws.
