The oboe is a really cool instrument. Lets face it, if your going to spend gosh knows how long devoted to some noise maker, The oboe is one of the best choices you can get.

You get a knife!

You can't march with an oboe
Ducks are cool animals
You can confuse people, 'cause no one seems to know what the heck you are playing
It is an elegant instrument
It is a lot lighter than a tuba
If you screw up, it's not your fault (1st it's the reed, then it's the oboe, and finally, if all else fails it's the player)
You don't need an excuse for being insane!
It's not a brass, so theres no nasty spit valves
You get to sit in the front!
It doesn't hurt your arms like a flute does.
