Emotions In Motion

It is the beginning of their sophomore year of high school, and Dawson Leery and his best friend, Josephine "Joey" Potter, realize that their lifelong friendship may be changing into something more. Along with Joey's confusing emotions this episode presents the arrival of the beautiful Jennifer Lindley, who is now Dawson’s next door neighbor. There is an air of mystery surrounding her, though as she conceals a dark secret about her past. Included in the clique is Pacey, who is sarcastic, but over-confidant which sends him into adult situations that he is unprepared for, such as the budding romance between him and his.... ENGLISH TEACHER!!!

Dirty Dancing

Dawson feels jealousy when Jen, who he is falling for, accepts a date with Cliff, a popular jock. Tamara, Pacey’s English teacher, does her best to avoid Pacey and his comments, but they once again find themselves in a situation that really isn’t a *normal* situation between a student and his teacher! Also, Joey makes it clear to Dawson¹s mother, Gale, that she knows her secret, which is that she’s having an affair with her co-anchor, Bob.

Prelude to a Kiss

Dawson dreams of a perfect, storybook first kiss with Jen, and it may finally be coming true, but his plans don’t go according to plan when Jen discovers that Dawson was trying to VIDEOTAPE the moment! At school, Dawson gets the opportunity to join the film class as a silent observer, as they won’t allow him to participate for various reasons, but he can't keep his mouth shut when he sees thatthe film the class is making is in trouble. He figures out for the class how to fix the problem. Meanwhile, Joey is allowing herself swept away by Anderson Crawford, who is an attractive, wealthy prep who is docked in Capeside with his family on their sailboat. Joey tells Crawford lies about herself, including her real name and what she is doing in Capeside. She leads him to believe that she is *also* rich. Also, Pacey and Tamara realize that they may have trouble keeping their secret. It may not be a secret for much longer!

Carnal Knowledge

On the day of Dawson's parents' twentieth wedding anniversary, he sees his mother, Gale, kissing her co-anchor, Bob. Joey, of course, knew about the affair all along. Later, Dawson turns to his best friend, who is Joey to confide in about his suspicions, which he has done his whole life. Joey confesses she has known about his mother’s dishonesty, and Dawson feels betrayed. Also, Jen finally reveals to Dawson her dark past about her life in New York, which, basically, is that she was a ‘bad’ girl, into guys, drugs, and alcohol. She is slightly unprepared for Dawson’s reaction. Meanwhile, Pacey and Tamara continue their affair, growing closer, but they have trouble keeping it secret - Dawson captures them having sex on tape in his attempt to videotape his and Jen’s first kiss.

Blown Away

A hurricane hits Capeside, and the Leerys, the Potters, Jen, and Jen’s grandmother are confined to the Leery household. Tempers rise, and when Dawson angrily confronts his mother about her affair; Gale confesses to it, which instantly shatters Mitch’s, her husband’s, world. Jen's grandmother exchanges accusing words with Bessie, Joey’s older sister who is in place of her mother, and Bodie, her boyfriend about their relationship and their unborn child. Jen’s grandmother thinks it is wrong because she is very religios and a.) the couple is not married and is having a child, and b.) it is an inter-racial relationship. Meanwhile, across town, Pacey and Tamara stay away from the storm in Pacey’s house, along with Pacey’s older brother, Deputy Doug Witter. Doug continuously insults Pacey and also makes passes at Tamara, privately angering Pacey.

Look Who's Talking

Bessie goes into labor at the Leery household, and Joey turns to Jen’s grandmother, Gram, for help, because she realizes that she is the only one who can help. She also turns to Dawson for solace when her sister's anguish floods her with memories of her mother's death, who died painfully of breast cancer a few years before. Jen is forced to put aside her religious differences with Gram, who must overcome her own racial judgements, when they are the only ones who are available to deliver Bessie’s baby. Also, at the beginning of the episode, Pacey confessed his affair to Dawson in the school bathroom, and somebody overheard. When rumors of Pacey's closeness with Tamara begin to spread, the school board calls for an emergency meeting to decide what they should do about the illegal situation.

The Breakfast Club

Emotions run rampant in the Capeside High library when Dawson, Joey, Jen and Pacey all end up with Saturday detention, somehow or other. The day of detention turns into a game of truth or dare, forcing the friends to face their true feelings for each other (think - Joey likes Dawson!). Joey secretly admits that she likes Dawson, but in such a way that he *still* doesn’t realize it!

Escape from New York

Jen's ex-boyfriend from New York shows up in Capeside to win her back, and to Dawson it seems like the guy’s plan is working. Pacey convinces an overworked and tired Joey to crash a party and her evening ends in unpredicted results - she ends up drunk, and Dawson ‘saves’ her from an agressive guy, and afterwards she kisses Dawson. Of course he chalks it up to the fact that she’s drunk. Gale and Mitch continue to work on bringing romance back into their ruined marriage. Also, Jen ends up dumping Dawson, saying she needs space, and that she wants to be able to stand alone, without a guy.

In the Company of Men

Dawson, heartbroken after his break-up with Jen, allows himself to be convinced into a road trip with Pacey and Jen's ex-boyfriend, Billy. They end up at a club, where Dawson is hit on by an older woman. Meanwhile, Jen and Joey find common ground confronting an arrogant jock who led the school to believe that he and Joey had slept together. Jen comes up with the perfect plan to get back at him. Joey starts a rumor that she is pregnant and in the end Warren apologizes.

Modern Romance

Dawson, who is still sulking over his break-up with Jen and the knowledge that she has another date with Cliff, a popular jock, masterminds a double date to stay close to Jen. Meaning, he *uses* another girl, who agrees to go on this double date with him, but soon realizes that it was just in an attempt to be near Jen. Meanwhile, Pacey starts to see Joey in a different light and asks Dawson if it would be OK if he asked her out. Dawson then is forced to reevaluates his own feelings about his childhood friend.

The Scare

It's Friday the 13th and Dawson revels in his infamous blood curdling practical jokes, which he plans every Friday the 13th. Also, news hits Capeside that young women are being brutally murdered, and Jen thinks she may be the next victim when she receives a scary anonymous phone call. Dawson invites everyone to his house, and Pacey brings a peculiar woman , who does not know she is being stalked, to Dawson's where all guests have encounters of the scariest kind, most all from Dawson!!!

Pretty Woman

Joey becomes the center of attention when Jen convinces her to enter a local beauty competition to earn money towards her future education. Also, to the pageant judges’ dismay, Pacey decides to enter the pageant, saying that he is asqualified as any female contestant. Furthermore, on the eve of the pageant, Dawson is surprised when Jen confesses her regrets about breaking up with him. At the end of the episode, after Dawson began to see Joey in a different light during the pagenat, Joey unburdens her heart, and let’s Dawson in on how she feels.

Breaking Away

Joey is invited to spend a semester in France for school. When Dawson learns that Joey might leave Capeside, he is forced to analyze his true feelings for her. Even though Joey has yearned for Dawson for years, she must now decide if this is her one true love, and if going to France and leaving Capeside is more important than a relationship that may not work out anyway. In the meantime, Jen and Grams forget about their religious differences to mourn the death of Jen’s grandfather, Grams’ husband. It ends with Dawson kissing Joey.
