CORY MANSION-DAY
CARL is seated on the sofa in the living room, a glass of red
wine in his hands. He holds it gently, as he reads a thick
printout. He looks up as ALLI comes into the room.
ALLI
Hi, Grandpa Carl. What are you doing?
CARL
Alli, my little love. I'm going over the records for Cory
Publishing for the past several months. Catching up on what I've
missed, so to speak.
ALLI
Yuck. Isn't that boring?
CARL
Slightly. But it must be done. So tell me, young lady, how have
you gotten along
without me?
Alli grins at him and sits next to him.
ALLI
It's been awful without you. Nothing's the same without you,
Grandpa Carl. And it's nice to see how happy Grandma Rachel is
since you've come back.
CARL
Well, I'm back where I belong, and I don't plan on leaving again
for a long, long time. You're stuck with me, I'm afraid.
ALLI
(Hugging him)
I can handle that.
The doorbell rings and Alli jumps up to answer it. She flings it
open to find VICKY standing at the door.
ALLI (cont'd)
Hi, Aunt Vicky!
They hug, quickly, and Vicky steps inside.
VICKY
Hey, kiddo. It's good to see you.
Carl walks out from the living room at the sound of Vicky's
voice. Without a word, he holds out his arms and Vicky goes into
them, smiling. They hug for a minute, then Carl holds Vicky out
at arm's length.
CARL
You're looking wonderful for a pregnant woman.
VICKY
I don't feel pregnant yet. It's too soon. But I'm sure morning
sickness, swollen feet, and constant trips to the bathroom will
hit me soon enough. I should be grateful.
CARL
I'm glad you were able to come over here. I've been looking
forward to having a chat with you.
ALLI
Hey, I'm going to take off, okay, Carl? Vicky, do you know where
Sean is?
VICKY
I think he went to the Lucky Lady. You can probably catch him.
ALLI
Okay, cool. See you later!
Alli leaves through the front door. Carl takes Vicky by the arm
and leads her to the sofa in the living room, where they both
sit.
CARL
Well, how are you feeling? Honestly?
VICKY
Wonderful. Really. I'm not expecting this to be a difficult
pregnancy. More importantly, how are YOU feeling?
CARL
I'm getting back to my old self. Becoming acclimated to Bay City
yet again, spending time with my children, getting acquainted
with Cory Publishing once again. I suppose after a month or two,
everything will be back to normal.
VICKY
(teasingly)
Bay City, normal? You really have been gone quite awhile, haven't
you, Carl?
CARL
Long enough to know that I don't want to leave again.
They smile at each other.

JOSIE AND GARY'S APARTMENT-SAME DAY
JOSIE is holding a long, flowing white dress to her chest,
twirling around the room with it. She twirls towards the bedroom
door and runs into GARY, who's in the doorway smiling at her with
an amused look on his face.
GARY
Practicing for our first dance?
JOSIE
Just imagining how wonderful it's going to be tonight when we're
renewing our vows. We can put the past behind us and concentrate
on our future.
GARY
(Putting his arms around her)
I can't wait, either. We've got a lot of future ahead of us and I
want to spend every moment of it with you.
JOSIE
(tears suddenly filling her eyes, she pushes him away)
Are you sure?
GARY
Josie, honey, why wouldn't I be sure? We've been through all
this.
JOSIE
I just want to be positive. I can't take losing you again, Gary.
GARY
Well, good, because it's not going to happen. You are never going
to lose me again.
JOSIE
I keep thinking that we should never have been apart in the first
place.
GARY
In a perfect world, maybe. But the world isn't perfect and
neither are we. We do what we can.
JOSIE
I want to believe that there's a Cinderella ending for us, Gary.
GARY
It's there. We just have to reach out and grab it. In fifty
years, I want to see us celebrating with our children and our
grandchildren and our GREAT grandchildren.
JOSIE
Kids....do you think that's going to happen for us?
GARY
I KNOW it will happen for us...Josie, our chances to have a
family weren't buried with Gary, Jr. We loved him dearly, and he
was a part of our life, but he has brothers and sisters waiting
to be born.
JOSIE
What if we can't.....what if we can't have more children, Gary?
GARY
Then we'll adopt. We'll find a surrogate, we'll do something. We
will have our family, Josie.
JOSIE
I can't help thinking that Gary, Jr. is up there watching us and
when the time comes, he's going to pick out his little brother or
sister and send them to us.
GARY
I think you're right. Now....don't we have a party to get ready
for?
JOSIE
(putting on a southern accent)
Why, for that little shindig of ours? I think you look purty darn
handsome like you are.
GARY
Well, thank you, Miss Josie...and you're lookin' awfully gorgeous
yourself.
JOSIE
When did we suddenly become Bonanza?
GARY
Don't ask me. Come on, Mrs. Sinclair, let's get married again.
As they kiss, we:

FELICIA'S APARTMENT-SAME DAY
SERGEI is walking around the apartment, wearing only a pair of
boxers. He is singing loudly as he folds a blanket, his back
turned to the door. It opens and he whirles around, smiling.
SERGEI
Felicia---!
He pauses as he sees that it is NOT Felicia watching him.
LORNA
Who are you and why are you in my mother's house?
She has a young child in her arms and is glaring at Sergei. The
baby is about a year and a half old. Lorna puts down the shoulder
bag she's carrying.
SERGEI
Your mother? Please to be telling me that the beautiful Felicia
Gallant is your mother?
LORNA
Yes, Felicia is my mother. But you still haven't answered my
question.
SERGEI
Oh, please to accept my sorries. I am Sergei Radzinsky. Your
mother and I are friends, she has been helping me with my living.
LORNA
Well, Sergei, if my mother likes you, you must not be too bad.
I'm Lorna Devon, Felicia's oldest daughter.
SERGEI
It is lovely to be meeting you, Miss Lorna. You have a beautiful
child.
LORNA
(smiles at the baby in her arms)
Thank you. This is my daughter, Gabrielle.
Sergei reaches out and tickles Gabrielle under the chin.
SERGEI
Hello, Gabrielle. You are a very pretty little girl. I am sure
your father is very proud of you.
Lorna turns away, silently, and Sergei's face is concerned.
SERGEI (cont'd)
I am sorry. I have said something wrong?
LORNA
(shaking her head)
No. You didn't know. Her father was killed before she was born.
As Sergei opens his mouth to speak, the door opens again and
FELICIA walks in. She stops short as she sees her daughter and
granddaughter.
LORNA (smiling)
Hi, Mom.
