Josiah uses what looks like a Model 1876 Winchester carbine for his long gun. I originally thought it was a '76 musket, but the barrel length is wrong. His choice in revolvers is different as well (in terms of TV westerns, that is) -- he shoots a Smith & Wesson Schofield .45--nice. |

S&W Schofield
Notes:
The S&W Schofield competed head to head with the Colt Model P (the Peacemaker) for selection as the standard sidearm of the Army. While both weapons were .45s, their ammunition was not completely interchangeable--the .45 Schofield was a shorter round than the .45LC, enabling the Colt to use either cartridge, but the Schofield only it's own. |
