Hello Vice lovers!!! I have been watching the show for years. I always felt that seasons 3 to 5 were more interesting from both a stylistic and thematic point of view. Specifically, I am talking about the genre of firm noir. I love that style of firmaking (Kiss Me Deadly is my favorate film noir) and have noticed that in the show, FN techniques and conventions were used to great effect. My favorite episode is a great example. The FN themes of fate, the world being unjust with evil being unpunished (?), and the idea of an off-center/out of kilt universe were present. The episode was haunting. The opening scene was shocking (surprised it was put on the air in that form), the final scene, surrealistic. BYW, as Crockett is walking away from Hackman, the words " o be continued" appear. I initially thought that the storyline with Hackman would continue but I guess he was never REALLY caught or killed. After all, the confrontation on the lawn has to be considered Crockett's fantasy. I think there is an essay on MV and film noir out there but I can't remember the publication (hell, I think I could write it!). Great sight about a great, intresting, and grounbreaking show.

Outstanding website. Miami Vice turned me onto the 10mm gun scene in a big way. They were way ahead of their time. Iheard that Don Johnson trained at Gunsite, the premire gunshooting school. It shows in his acting. I think that if Nash had a Bren Ten, he ight be more popular! LOL. However their is rumor of a Bren Ten resurrection. Well what can I say except that I'm back again!. I felt that I didn't really say enough that explains my addiction, or obsession!. My mummy got me into Vice (un-intentionally),years ago now, when she played Crockett's theme on the old record player and it reminded me of when she used to play it in the 8 's when it first came out. I thought 'oh there's something groovy & different about this !, the mood, the characters, the story, the look. I'm always ready to add another poster to the bedroom walls. You thought your Momma's room was bad Keegan?, well I t ink I've topped you there!. Mad aren't I?. I now watch Starsky & Hutch, remembering that both Paul Micheal Glaser & David soul directed a few Vice episodes as well. But looking back over the years it's hard to find any cop show that rivals the unique flav ur that Vice gave us isn't it?. Lets just say that they don't make em' like they used to!!. I love this site !.

One night in 1984, I was in my music room, listening to some records. I had to get something out of the kitchen, and heard what I thought sounded like JAN HAMMER playing in the backround on TV. I was and have been a big HAMMER fan, and my ears didn't deci ve me. My (now ex)wife was watching the first episode of MV! In the ensuing years I recorded MV periodicaly, and even recorded the show on USA and NBC during the final years. In 1989 I was able to go to FLORIDA, and although it was on the west coast (MARC ISLAND), it was still close to MIAMI! While there, I also was able to ride in a 10 meter FOUNTAIN (which was like the SCARAB, from BOCA to POMPANO! ...I have two pair of black WAYFERER sunglasses that CROCKETT used during one of the seasons. I grew up watching Miami Vice with my dad and was totally amazed by it. I then didn't see anything for a long time until I found some of my dads' old beta tapes and watched them. Being a editor by profession, I found the editing, music selection, dialogue, camerawork, acting, and directing, broke new ground in episodic television and brought broadcast television to a cinematic level not seen before 1984. Vice's promos for its pilo episode rocked thanks in part to the Phil Collins song,"In the Air Tonight." If you watch the movie "Thief", you will see a scene where Michael Mann developed his trademark 'dark car moving under the city lights at night' scene used often in Vice. I also liked "Last of the Mohicans" ... another Mann production.

I am 16 years old. I grew up watching Miami Vice. It was my Mom's favorite show. She never missed and episode and niether did I. I wished it still came on NBC. Nash Bridges is a cool show but Miami Vice was THE BEST!!!
