Chapter 3-"In the arms of the Angel"

Jax gasped as he saw her, at first faintly, and then more distinctly, appear in his embrace. "Jax…" she whispered, almost inaudibly. "Brenda, oh-Brenda!" The tears streamed down both of their faces, as they held on to each other, each terrified to let go. "Are you…" "Dead? Yes…Jax, I am." The color drained out of him again, and she took his face in her hands. "I know…I know, Jax. Nobody leaves." She sighed, and buried her head in his neck. "I know, I know…I'm here, Jax…I am. But only this once. I mean, you'll only be able to see me, this once…Sometimes you'll think that you…" "Shhh," he said, pressing his lips to hers, sweetly reuniting them as he had only dreamed possible. He relished the taste of her, the feel of her in his arms; she was back, she was his, if only for a moment. As their kissed ended, Brenda turned to him, breathless. "I've missed you. I've been watching you, Jax." " I know, Brenda. Earlier, at the cemetery…the raindrop…" "My tears. How did you…?" "How could I not, Brenda. I would know you anywhere…The light in your eyes-I see it now in the stars; the sound of your laughter echoes in the wind; your tears mix with raindrops; your smile is reflected in rainbows; your heartbeat resonates in the crash of the waves…You are everywhere Brenda, everywhere except where I want you: in my arms." He brushed the tears from her cheek, and put his head on her chest, listening to her faint heartbeat, feeling her arms around him, her breath on his skin…

Spend all your time waiting

for that second chance

for a break that would make it okay

there's always one reason

to feel not good enough

and it's hard at the end of the day

I need some distraction

oh beautiful release

memory seeps from my veins

let me be empty

and weightless and maybe

I'll find some peace tonight

In the arms of an angel

fly away from here

from this dark cold hotel room

and the endlessness that you fear

you are pulled from the wreckage

of your silent reverie

you're in the arms of the angel

may you find some comfort there…

…It don't make no difference

escaping one last time

it's easier to believe in this sweet madness oh

this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

In the arms of an angel

fly away from here

from this dark cold hotel room

and the endlessness that you fear

you are pulled from the wreckage

of your silent reverie

you're in the arms of the angel

may you find some comfort there

you're in the arms of the angel

may you find some comfort here
